Morax’s lips are surprisingly warm for a god of stone.
the inexplicably bizarre science of writing fan fiction. just me, or can anyone else relate?
this is the dumbest thing i’ve drawn with my bare minimum art skills but i am so mad right now, and i just… had a moment of insanity during my fanfic spiral.
edit: “time to get to work”. there’s a typo because of course there is.
edit 2: i made a part 2, cuz im dumb :)
love is a powerful thing, more powerful than blood, although both run through us like a river
Please read Legendborn
I just finished Legendborn. I’ve never recommended books on tumblr before but it’s really underrated, and more people need to read it, especially considering it’s the author’s debut novel.
It’s so good and is a really fun, tropey YA fantasy whilst seamlessly intertwining commentary on society and racism (the main character is a black girl and faces a lot of shit in the overwhelmingly white magic society because of it) that was at times more interesting than the main fantasy plot. The main character, Bree, has to speak to her ancestors and face her family history as part of the climax of the book.
It’s so diverse in terms of queer characters, there’s casual non binary rep, a side wlw relationship, a mlm character whose boyfriend is not part of the secret society, and one of the main love interests is bi!
Bree also has to face her grief about the death of her mother and I loved how the book didn’t fall into the usual ya fantasy tropes around parental disappearance/death but instead subverted them to examine her grief in a very realistic and touching way.
I loved the inclusion of Arthurian mythology which I’d never seen used in a modern ya fantasy before, and the ending was so gripping and amazing I need the next book immediately.
me? opening a 100k+ fic to avoid the crushing weight of existence? more likely than you think.
i don’t make the rules
Keep refreshing AO3 to see if someone else wrote the fic I made up in my head before I went to sleep last night.
No luck yet, sadly.
seriously? you’re telling me the fanfiction i meticulously planned out in my head doesn’t already exist and i have to write it myself? unbelievable.
“Emma… I’ll live. I’ll live and protect this family. Everyone in this family, just like you. This time, for sure, I swear. No matter what happens, I’ll never abandon them again. So don’t bear this burden alone.”

I stand at that statue and claim the bodies whose names the world wants to forget. I claim those bodies whose names I was taught to forget. And I claim the unsung bloodlines that soak the ground beneath my feet, because I know, I just know, that if they could, they would claim me.
— LEGENDBORN, TRACY DEONN.
I just read the newly released Legendborn by Tracy Deonn and had to do a quick painting of Bree Matthews, the very cool protagonist. This was such a great read and an awesome interpretation of the Arthurian legend, I totally recommend!!
I DESPISED Sel at the beginning of the book, which totally explains why he's my favourite character now. Bad boy with black hair, pretty eyes, a tragic backstory, assholish behaviour and, somehow AMAZING character development within the span of one book? Of COURSE he's gonna be my favourite. OF COURSE HE IS
Me: My standards for male love interests in books are pretty high at the moment. I got to admit that.
Author: His hair was black. His eyes were blue and his smirk was really seductive.
Also me: That will do. Sir, we’re married now.
