I want Thomas and Edith to be a thing soo bad. They are so charming in the beginning. But I can feel in bones that Thomas is bad (even before he offed dear papa). AHHHH! Why can't I have nice things, Guillermo!?

into the spider-verse is obviously amazing but the most realistic thing was when miles is listening to music with his headphones he does that thing where you kiiiind of know the lyrics but also really don’t, so you just hum to yourself but the music so right there that it doesn’t matter to you and that was refreshing to see in a movie
Glad to know that Alexa’s so forgiving
Introducing Gay Representation™ now in two original flavors: 1. Dead lesbian 2. White gay boy written 100% for the female demographic
how could you forget number 3
gratuitous inaccurate lesbian sex scene made for straight men
and of course the 4th
gay character gets five seconds of screentime at the very end
This is great but it’s missing the 5th: character who is only revealed to be gay by the media’s creator outside of the canon and whose sexuality is never actually present in any capacity in the media
Thank u all for properly extending the Gay Representation Menu
Inception cosplay idea. Pick random spots at cons to just pretend to sleep. Then have someone start playing the music and you wake up suddenly. 😂 I’m doing this.
The funniest thing in the world is Pinterest/Insta Gals™ using the “dream a little bigger darling” quote to be ~aesthetic~ but Tom Hardy’s literally just talking about his grenade launcher
So watching Inception for the first time in a while, and I had a really awesome realization. Even though all the events are sequential, they actually are all happening at the exact same time.
I’m LIVING.
Screen Writing
Okay, listen up, I love screen writing. Script format is my favorite form of writing. But, I’ve seen too many people go into it without knowing anything about it and thinking it’ll just magically work for them.
1. The formatting is a pain. Use a script writing software to do it. I recommend Celtx. It’s easy to use, shows examples, and it has a free trial that’s basically endless. You don’t get as many features as you do if you pay for it, but most of them are pretty unnecessary unless you’re already developing the writing into an actual production.
2. Easy on the action and description. Only be specific when it is absolutely necessary. Wiggle room is unbelievably important for the actors, director, and photography.
3. Always be open to criticism. You have to be a team player. A good project has many different opinions and the opinions are a good thing because it works out any flaws you may have in the production.
4. One page of script is equivalent to around a minute of actual film. And, you should probably go slightly over the required length. The director will cut what is unnecessary.
5. Monologues are fine… in moderation. People go off on tangents all of the time, but they don’t go off on them constantly. The quicker your dialogue, the better the script. It’s different than regular writing because it should be fast-paced. Since the audience is seeing it, they’ll be a lot more quick to pick up on repetitiveness. It’s a lot easier to bore an audience.
6. Don’t describe every single reaction that a character has. The actors need to be able to interpret it so that way they can actually act in a way that doesn’t feel forced.
7. Practice makes perfect. Do it frequently. Read scripts. I’m being serious. You’ll learn a lot.
8. You’re probably not magically going to magically write a hit movie or TV show at first. Experience, experience, experience. I’m starting my first genuine script experience as a script supervisor for an indie short film. My job is to make sure there’s continuity within the script and production. You’re probably not going to get paid as you first start out and you’re probably not going to have your own script used unless you lucked out with some really good connections or have an excess amount of money. It’s a ladder and you have to work your way up. The more experience you have, the more connections you will have in the industry, and you will be more likely to be successful. That being said, try to make it good experience. Avoid working on projects that you’re sure are going to be terrible just because you want the experience. You don’t want to be remembered for something awful. If it’s a little awful, that’s alright, but just watch out for disasters.
9. Beta readers are so, so important. Take as many opinions as you can get. And, make sure to listen to any advice you can get.
10. Parallels in writing come off so
much more noticeably and beautifully in screen writing when they’re done properly. I don’t recommend reusing the same parallel more than a couple times because of repetition, but a scene that’s similar to another is so much easier to see in script than most other forms of writing and will come across in a very prominent way.
11. Character backstories should exist, but don’t focus too much on every character unless it’s important. Script is snappy and quick. You have to focus on the story more than anything else. There isn’t as much time to mess around as there is in other types of stories.
12. Have fun. These are suggestions, not rules. If you can find a way to break some of my suggestions and keep it interesting, go for it. It’ll make it original and originality is always interesting.
bless
me watching a movie 25+ years from now:pride and prejudice (2005) was better than this
I’ve watched fight club and I’m inspired, someone please come and beat the shit out of me
wonder woman’s success just shows how powerful and inspiring a movie can be when a female superhero is at the forefront and when a female director is at the helm. it’s currently the #1 movie in the world and made $223 million dollars at the global box office in its opening weekend and it honestly deserves all of its success.
the reason why you should watch/read Doukyuusei
i know i someone has probably done this already but i just want to truly display why I love “Doukyuusei” so much.
the movie and manga’s visual art is stunning, with a simplistic art-style and light lines with lighter colors. the gorgeous aesthetic is simply too attractive to pass.
the voice acting is simply breath-taking, the well known Hiroshi Kamiya (Levi of snk, Yato of noragami, and Choromatsu of osomatsu) plays Kusakabe Hikaru.
whereas, Kenji Norima (Chiba Mamoru of sailor moon crystal, Taihei Doma of himouto! umaru chan, and Natsuya Kirishima of free! starting days) plays Rihito Sajou.
they play the parts of nervous and shy teenagers in high school beautifully, with all of the normal “hiccups and stutters” of a teenager confessing to a loved one.
however, the most important part of this movie is the message.
the movie’s portrayal of youth finding their sexuality is just so accurate to the real thing, something you do not often find in the shounen-ai community.
the “but we’re boys” comment is mentioned, but is not a revolving issue of the relationship between our two protagonists Kusakabe and Sajou. it is mentioned but quickly dismissed as they realize their feelings for one another.
the two boys suffer the same hardships that any person going through a relationship will suffer such as school and college, and not only that they move at a normal pace of a healthy relationship.
in contrast to the trope in bl stuff today, the couple does not have intimate interactions until they have been going out for a year and this is just deep kissing. this is realistic for a high-school couple of japan, thus displaying how NORMAL a same-sex relationship really is as many depictions of shounen-ai couples have had the couple have bedded one another within days of their “get-together.”
the movie not only depicts a warm and loving romance between two young-men and their innocent love for one another, it also pushes for the acceptance of same-sex couples, showing that they are not any different than the social norm.
same-sex couples have blushing confessions. same-sex couples have arguments. same-sex couples have confusion and thought.
just… this story and series is gorgeous and stunning and something i would absolutely recommend to anyone.
A family doesn’t have to be a mom and a dad. Sometimes a family is happy-go-lucky son, a butler grandpa, a police commissioner big sister, two dads who are actually the same person, and a criminal clown dad.
