{pulse & deceit} g & chrome
Oh, so was that the game she was going to play?
From his place against the wall he could see her lips moving as she talked to the bartender, ordering a drink for him. Well, she was lucky in the fact that he didn’t mind most types, but he wasn’t sure he could say the same for his vessel. The younger ones always tended to have more sensitive taste buds, but that wasn’t something he could help at the moment.
Once the drink had been delivered and placed into his hand, he brought it to his lips for a taste. A perfect martini with just the slightest twinge of lemon—not his preference, but it was safe and therefore tolerable. The corner of his eyes noted the girl’s retreating figure as she disappeared into a further corner of the club, his sight now obscured by the multitudes of dancing humans. The vampire couldn’t fight the feeling he was being toyed with, but he resisted the urge to make his anger detectable—he wasn’t the best at games, unlike a certain blond he had come to know.
As he stood there on his spot against the wall brooding on his next actions, a female approached him with a sultry look in her eyes. Now G was not one for dealing with lustful human females, but perhaps his vessel would be more… inviting? There was a brief and slight spark of magic surrounding him as he loosened the hold on his vessel, just enough for the real owner of the body to surface. With a silent message to amuse the woman without forgetting his mission, he retreated back into the furthest recesses of his consciousness, watching as he pondered on what to do next.
Her wards twinged slight at a sudden, small surge of magic. It was only a brief flicker, nothing enough to have any real effect, unless the vamp’s control was that good. It was slightly suspicious — his presence was obvious, unless he thought she couldn’t tell, even with the drink she bought. Still, she’d keep that incident in mind, although it probably wasn't anything to worry about at the moment.
Extracting her phone from her boot, she checked it for any new messages. One from Chikusa —— he and Ken were arriving in two days. Far too late for them to help finish up the rest of the wards for the apartment; her presence was already known, and while most clan vampires didn’t bother with hunter’s business, it was better to be safe rather than sorry.
Whether the clans approved or disapproved of her presence was irrelevant. If they were unable or unwilling to control the vampires within their territory, the guild stepped in, simple as that. Chrome was pragmatic enough to work with clan vamps without a fuss, but only if they were willing to work with her. Either way, she was getting the job done.
Fiddling with her phone, she waited for the vamp to come to her. This power game was subtle, and she had already made her move. It was up to him to decide whether to work with her now — she wasn’t here to cater to snobby vampires who felt like they were too good to work together with a human. He had half an hour before she went home to finish her wards.
