#good #beer from #milan : made by Birrificio Lambrate this is the a "Stile Smoked Stout" and awesome beer with the name of the typical #police officer in #milano. "Ghisa" (which actually means "cast #iron ") cames from the hat the police officers used to wear in the late 19th #century which to milanese people seemed to be the #pipe of #ancient stoves, actually #made by cast iron. #italiansdoitbetter #weekend #saturdaynight (presso Milano Centro)

Pink cocktail: born in the second half of the 19th #century it become really popular in the #royal #navy . It born as a #medicine , #angostura was used to #cure and prevent #malaria but mixed with gin it soon became a pupular #drink . It's considered to be the driest #cocktail because of it's ingredients: gin and angostura #bitter only. Because of the cocktail #history I decided to use a #navy gin; the #best choice could be the #Plymouth navy strength gin, which was specifically #distilled for the royal navy, but I decided to use some #haymans royal dock, which was the gin of the navy officers, so I'm probably not that far from the #original #one. 4 dashes of angostura for every #ounce of gin, and here you go, an #amazing #super strong cocktail, I personally think it could be an amazing #aperitivo instead of a #martini . #ginstagram #ilovegin #ginteresting #ginoclock #pink (presso Milan, Italy)

Made following an #ancient #recipe from 1761, this is a real "London dry": 8 simple #botanicals make its taste unique and #delicious . The #vapour #infusion process makes it round and warm, helping all the botanicals get togeter in the most #amazing way. Like most #dry gins the Bombay Dry is perfect #served with a simple unflavoured #tonic #water and a #lemon #peel to garnish. @hendricksgin #one of the most #famous and #popular #gin nowadays. A good unusual #scottish gin that everyone likes. This amazing gin is made in a slightly different way from usual gin #distilling : 2 gins with the same #botanicals are distilled in 2 different sills, a regular pot still distillating and a #vapour #infused one are made. The resulting gins are very different from each other, and the final #hendricks is obtained by #blending the two spirits and then adding #cucumber and #rose #essence , giving Hendrick's its typical #taste . Because of those essences which give Hendrick's strong cucumber and floreal taste it's typical seeing it with a cucumber garnish, but if you are not really into cucumber (like me) drinking it with a fresh unflavoured #tonic #water is perfect. Even a #aromatic #tonicwater like the #fevertree #mediterranean can be really enjoyable. @haymansgin #royal #dock #gin is a #classic. It takes its name from most famous shipbuilding dock in #Deptford , on the #Thames , where the #royal #navy used to equip its ships, and Hayman's gin, being the gin of the navy officers, was part of the supplys every ship needed. This is THE ORIGINAL NAVY GIN, made with the same recipe since the XIX century and can easily be recognized by its #strength . Navy gin used to be very strong (57.5% ABV) because #gunpowder needed be ignited even if gin was accidentally poured on it, and it's impossible with a less #alcoholic gin. Speaking about flavour, this is an #amazing classic gin, where #alcohol is well masked by the #botanicals , which are the same as the Hayman's #londondrygin but in a different ratio. #Dry #simple and #easy , a joy for the mouth, a bit strong if tasted straight, but still enjoyable. I personally like strong gins and old style gins, so I totally recommend this, with a simple unflavored #tonicwater it can make the perfect #gintonic : refreshing, smooth and delicious. A #gin like the #haymans #oldtom has an interesting story to tell, going back to the 18th Century when the English government set prohibitive taxes because of the #gincraze , causing the growth of the #underground #alcohol contraband. Old Tom refers to the typical #blackcat signs used to show where it was possible to buy illegal alcohol, especially illegal gin. Old Tom gin is characterized by a sweeter and rounder taste than the classic #londondrygin , but dryer than the #Dutch #genever , and is sometimes considered the missing link between these two. As time passed the Old Tom gin almost disappeared, but now it's becoming popular again mostly thanks to @haymansgin which in 2007 relaunched their Old Tom gin following the ancient family recipe. This is a lightly #spiced awesome gin, and with #schweppes #premium #tonicwater makes the perfect #gintonic , easy and smooth to drink, and a pleasure for the mouth (I had another one after this). Tonight I went to Blenderino, a small colorful cocktail bar in Milan, to try their special version of the classic champagne cocktail, where #tanqueray #rangpur #gin, tonic water and berry juice are used instead of the classic champagne, and brandy dash. The result is a colorful sweet refreshing sparkling cocktail. Good to look and to drink. Even if it's really sweet it is really easy to drink and the sugar on the bottom of the glass keeps sparkling till the end of the drink. I totally recommend it, it's something I'll drink again.
