Mon Mothma - Chancellor of the New Republic

SHE is now FIFTY-FOUR years old CISWOMAN HUMAN, originally from CHANDRILA but typically reside on ONDERON. after everything they’ve gone through, they show loyalty to THE NEW REPUBLIC. they are best known for being a/an CHANCELLOR, and i hear they’re grown pretty COMPASSIONATE yet also CAUTIOUS at times; i hope they survive the galactic war. Mon Mothma as Chancellor made it her focus to build up resources for the New Republic, so that the worlds hurt most severely by the Empire could begin to heal.

Mon hosted a gala, in hopes to make money to expand her legislative goals, during the event many guests became drugged, much to her chagrin. During it she met Stassam Char, who made a very large donation. 

Shortly after the gala, Mon Mothma announced she would be seeking a second term as Chancellor of the New Republic.

During the Destruction at Sernpidal she immediately began working to help refugees, and trying to figure out the source of this attack.

During the gala on Hapes, she was injured breaking her left arm in the chaos. She chose not to use bacta as more people were severely injured.

   Mon smiled when Rae Sloane approached her. “Grand Admiral, I don’t see why my presence would be a surprise here. The Corporate Sector Authority is a legitimate galactic government, that we both have ties too. Though I must admit, the feeling is mutual. I would have imagined you would have sent someone in proxy.” Mon’s voice was firm, but polite. “I am glad you are here though, there is much for us to discuss. I will be frank, as of right now, you and the Imperial Remnants are not a threat to the New Republic in my eyes.”

meetra narrowly dodged an approaching figure, sidestepping right before they could collide into each other. she gave her a reassuring smile, hands spread to show no harm done. “it’s alright, chancellor. not a scratch on me. are you alright ? “

   “Yes...yes I am fine physically, and mostly mentally.” She chuckled a little. *This event, and everything else just have me so lost in thought. Part of me feels like it is wrong to be here, to be doing all of....” Motioning to the grandeur around them. “This. When there are so many suffering right now, with those invaders waiting to attack. I hope this can contribute to the efforts of the peace talks between the New Republic and the First Order.”

   Mon had finished meeting with the ExO and the Direx Board of the CSA, all of them were vultures, and several of them in her opinion were amongst the worst of the galaxy. The things they did to planets, to people, the way they had supported the Empire through monetary and military means. These people would send 10 billion to perish if it meant increasing their share’s worth by even a hundred thousand credits. She was thinking about this as she walked, not focusing and almost walked right into another person. Stabilizing herself, and them she was almost blushing, 

“I am so sorry, I don’t know what came over me, I was just so deep in thought, I didn’t even see you there. Are you ok? Is there anything I can do?”

   Mon knew in the time to come that the Corporate Sector Authority could be a massive ally, or a major hinderance. It was an idea she did not like, but it was a reality she had to deal with. That was why she was not at some silly little race rather than back on Onderon. Perhaps though some good could come of this trip, meetings with Imperial agents, setting the stage for the peace talks, this was after all neutral ground. Something she had made very clear to everyone affiliated with the New Republic and the Rebellion. Smiling when she saw Zeb, who she had almost felt like was hovering around her all night, she approached. 

“Have you been following me, Garazeb?”

   Some of the last people Mon wanted to speak to during all of this were political operatives, and yet right now they were amongst the most important people she had to speak too. Usually the companies they served, or the special interests they fought for made or break campaigns, and right now while she had no actual opposition, she did not need any such opposition to rise against her during a military crisis, it would only split the New Republic in half. So here she was sitting down with Pandora Galilee, ready to ask for her input on things. Smiling as she offered her a hand, once the other woman entered her office. 

“Pandora, so good to see you, I am sure you have heard about the peace conference that will soon be taking place between Rae Sloane, and I......I wanted to get your input, and thoughts on such an event.”

   “Master Shan, thank for meeting with me.” Mon Mothma was pouring water for both of them as the Jedi sat down across from her. She had a smile on her face, despite everything currently going on in the galaxy. Mon believed that a positive outlook could save almost any day. “Now I know things were probably far different in the time you’ve come from, which is why I asked for this meeting with you. Obviously, you were a Jedi not a politician, but that does not mean your input should mean nothing to me.” 

Sighing softly, as she put the water jug down. “What I mean to ask you is, in your  time were things better  politically? More united? Is there anything I can take from then and incorporate it into my leadership approach?”

There’s a breath that Kylia releases at Mon’s words. In truth, the attack had left her shaken more than she cares to admit. Not only that but for it to happen just after the death of a planet? What was she supposed to believe? Had these new enemies been tied to such an occurrence? Had she lost the ability to tell when something was connected? No. That was still there and a strong part of her had to try and connect the dots. She needed answers but she didn’t know if either side could give them to her. Yet, even as she struggles with her own eternal thoughts, the only thing she desires is to make sure the people are safe. That a surprise attack doesn’t happen again and that everyone can not just breath a little easier, but sleep with both eyes closed.

“Of course.” Kylia smiles just then, leaning back in her chair in a bit more of a relaxed manner. “At this point, I wish I was able to say. With the attack having been so sudden and so many people were injured, I’ve been busying myself with trying to help others while also searching for a friend to make sure he survived. He saved me and stayed behind.” Kylia pauses, looking a bit bashful at admitting the truth. A jedi having to be saved? How silly of a thing to think about. “Though, I cannot help but wonder if this new enemy was also part of the reason a planet died?”

   Mon nodded her head listening to Kylia, understanding her worry. Mon herself had been injured during the attack, though she still remained more worried about everyone else than herself. “Of course, all we can do now is help one another. I think the work of you and the Jedi Order are extremely noble, and I am humbled that you trust me enough to be willing to work with my government.” When it came to Sernpidal, Mon, closed her eyes for a second, before she sighed softly opening them back up. 

“Yes, our intelligence groups now believe they are connected. They had the power to attack us undetected, to shoot lava down on the planet, who knows what they are capable of doing to a moon’s gravitational rotation, which is a very distressing thought indeed. We will overcome this though, together, I believe that.”

   The Emperor’s Rift had brought a slew of people both from the past and the future to the present. Mon was meeting people who were either born thousands of years ago, or wouldn’t be adults for a few more decades. However, with each new person they brought a wealth of information, and skill that could be used to help the New Republic, the Jedi Order, and the Galaxy as a whole. Currently sitting at her desk, she had arranged to meet a future member of the New Republic Defense Fleet, and apparently a member of the future Resistance, who would go on to be one of its leaders.....Poe Dameron. Mon knew their mother and father, and trusted that would be just as great an asset to insuring galactic prosperity. 

“General, it is a pleasure to meet you, again perhaps? I am unfortunately at a disadvantage, you have a future vision that I do not. Still anyone who comes with the resumé that you do has my deepest gratitude, and respect.”

“I, ah, could try and throw together a list.”  Zeb scratched the back of their neck. Politics were far from his strong suit, especially since he’d skipped three years of it. Still, some things never seemed to change, and certain planets always seemed to get fucked over more than others.  “But yeah, border worlds. Places that took a lot of damage like Kashyyyk, Ryloth, Lothal, Mon Cala. Maybe any planets that took a lot of Sernpidal refugees. Anyplace with a lot of Hutt or syndicate activity, spots where people feel like the Core worlds don’t have their best interests. We don’t prove them wrong, they won’t put their people on the line to protect some other New Republic planet. Then it’s everybody for themselves and that way nobody wins.”

Zeb paused before they broached the next topic, their ears slanting to the side.  “Uh, don’t know if you’ll like this.”  He wasn’t sure he liked it either if it meant spreading their resources even thinner, but he also couldn’t justify leaving a growing threat unchecked.  “We’ve gotta keep an eye on those last Imp holdouts. The wrong parts of Coruscant, whatever’s left of Vardos. Those invaders might not care about loyalties, but you know the moment we chase ‘em off the Imps are gonna turn around and bite us in the ass. Any recruits they take on to ‘protect the homeworld’ might just find they want to keep those stupid buckets on their heads.”

   Mon nodded her head, “Yes, all worlds we’ll need to watch, Mon Cala because of its military importance, without their ships the New Republic would be lost. However, with Ryloth we will need to tread carefully, their planetary government has refused New Republic membership, and I do not want to force our hand on them. They would not take kindly to it, especially after the Republic promised to leave after their liberation and instead it became an Imperial occupation.” 

She nodded, before a light chuckle left her lips. “Thankfully, it would seem with the death of Jabba, most Hutt activity has gone back to Hutt Space. I am sure with everything going on they plan on securing their own borders rather than worry about expanding at the moment.” Mon nodded, “I am not sure, Coruscant saw some of the deepest protesting against the Empire as the war raged on, and when I spoke with Mas Amedda during the surrender proceedings he told me it was at the point child tried to murder him. As for Vardos, they know the Empire tried to kill them despite their loyalty, perhaps that will give them second thought.”

it was easy to say those things. they were the right things to say, what they were meant to say because of the role that they played for their people. yet none of them truly had any idea of how they were meant to defeat any enemy like this. clearly they were capable of a massive amount of destruction, but they did not know where they came from, how many of them there were, and so many other questions. “our lack of knowledge on this threat may be as great of a threat as the attackers themselves.” she murmured, her lips pressing into a thin line. she was doing all that she could, but it did not feel like enough.

“yes, he is.” it would have been nice if his presence there could have been used to their advantage, but there had been far too much chaos. “i am if it becomes necessary, but otherwise, i think it… may be best to try and save that particular detail for a rainy day, so to speak.” that would give her time to figure out the technological side of things, if it could even work. “have you ever actually met sloane?”

   “I have to agree, thankfully, and this is a small thank to have but, it would seem all of our contemporaries are also at a severe lack of knowledge, meaning they are not working with these invaders. Had they made alliances then the entire New Republic would be in grave danger.” Mon let out a soft sigh, it seemed anytime things were actually starting to get better, they were hit with a massive setback that put them five steps in reverse. Nodding her head as Padmé further explained the use of their possible asset. 

“Very well, I shall support any decision you make. I am here for anything you may need on that front. As for Rae Sloane, no I have not actually met her, but I have read enough about her to hope that she is the best leader we could wish for the Empire. From what I understand, she at least has honor, and is a dignified leader. She won’t try and pull any tricks, not when working together would save more lives.”

   "My bad decisions? Bold of a member of the Imperial Remnants to say to me. It was your beloved Emperor and his court that stripped so many planets of their resources, and sold them to the highest bidder. It was this action that now leaves us scrambling for resources.

My sources also shared with me that you have your own people meeting with the Corporate Sector Authority, an action both of us must now undertake because once again, your Empire cut back regulations and allowed them to not only grow, but become emboldened in their belief they are a legitimate government.

Now is not the time for petty one liners, Grand Admiral, now is the time for us to put our differences aside, and work together for the betterment of the entire galaxy, if that is truly even your aims."
