location: outside courtyard, post quidditch game | starter: open @fideliusstarters
º ⩇⩇:⩇⩇ 。― "well it was a bummer that I missed the match." Alex arrived to the quidditch game pretty late and saw Ravenclaw take the win just as he had sat down on the stands. "We'll get them next time as they say." He said as he sat on a bench with a book in hand. "Are matches always like this here in Hogwarts? Not that Quidditch weren't like this at Durmstrangs, I mean we had Victor Krum so that is saying something they just feel a little different."
Ariella had made a point of glancing over when the other had sat down, her eyes narrowed and brows furrowed as she studied judged the other for being rather late. "You did- you missed the entire match and, even knowing that, you chose to come here, sit down, and comment on the outcome of an already-completed match. How very interesting. Especially from you." She continued, recognizing the others face. "And you don't come empty-handed. Oh no. You come with something to provide entertainment." Her observations may have come across as harsh, and that's likely because that's what she was. "Why are you just sitting there with all of this, still?"

The celebrations were loud, as CJ was hooting and hollering over his team's victory. It was such a short game, but to see the crestfallen looks on the Slytherins' faces was so very sweet. A large smile is on his face. Surely, this game must be a record, and to think, he can say he was on the Ravenclaw quidditch team during this time. It would be quite a memory. And this memory could get better at the Ravenclaw afterparty. "Hey!" he calls out to a straggler still in the stands, "After-party at Ravenclaw. you coming?"
Like nearly any other member of the magical world, Emmy found Quidditch to be an incredibly invigorating form of entertainment. Since her first year at Hogwarts, she'd committed to attending every game she possibly could, which thus far had been each of them. And, given the circumstances clouding the current climate, nothing had seemed more appealing than attending the Ravenclaw v. Slytherin match that afternoon. Aside from the fact that she herself was a Ravenclaw, any opportunity to potentially see Slytherin get put in their places was one she simply wouldn't pass up. Once the game had concluded Emmy chose to remain in her seat, awaiting the clearing of the crowd before she even began to attempt to make her way back to the dorms. Lost in thought, she nearly failed to notice the nearby voice despite the fact that it was obviously addressing her. Turning, a smile crossed her face as her eyes met CJ's. "Hey, you! Great game, congratulations!" Shaking her head, Emmy widened her grin. "Of course I'm coming! I wouldn't miss it!" Laughing she stood slowly, making her way over. "I mean, we all knew we were coming out today to watch Slytherin get their asses handed to them but that..." Her voice trailed. "That was brutal. I swear, that was the closest thing to a pro game I've seen in a while."
where - grand hall when - after the azkaban escape news who - open (@fideliusstarters)
There's a slight tremor in Neville's hands as he reads the daily prophet. The looping of her maniacal face has him clutching the paper. It was so long ago. He doesn't remember what happened to his parents, only that he was there. He sees the aftermath every time he visits his parents at Mungo's. It makes his blood boil that his parents' abuser has escaped. She should be suffering in Azkaban, like she deserves. Neville hears a cough that disrupts his reading. "What?" he says angrily as he pulls the paper down from his eyes. Neville sighs, pinching his nose. "Sorry, I didn't mean to snap. What did you need?"
Since the news of the Azkaban escapees had broken, tensions had been high everywhere- more than. It was as though the stress emanating from practically everyone on Hogwarts grounds was palpable, and it had certainly become unavoidable. Still, Dom did his best to remain positive, to try and spread just a bit of ease and relaxation in the midst of such turmoil. Rounding a corner in the castle, the Gryffindor came face-to-face with another whom he knew and recognized- Neville. Taking a deep breath, Dominic did his best to formulate what he might say to the other, though unfortunately words failed him. "Hey..." He replied, not really taking note of the snap in the others tone. When the apology came he waived it off, shaking his head. "Nothing to be sorry for. Stress is high for us all right now, it's understandable. Really, I just...Wanted to make sure you're alright. You're staring at that paper like you're trying mental transfiguration." The joke was small, but he offered it nonetheless, wanting nothing more than to assist the other in feeling just a bit better.
his peaceful time alone did not last long, then again it was his fault for complaining to himself, risking someone overhearing him. a fellow six year, though a gryffindor, thought he was making light banter, and adrian would have usually waved off the comment, but he had a rough week and this weekend was all about turning it around, if possible. he eyed the glass in his hand and humming in agreement through clenched teeth. it was a rare moment for adrian to be sober like this. especially lately. "maybe i do, but 'a real blast'? seriously, no one in this room, besides maybe you, is having 'a real blast' while listening to that. i'd have to drink this place dry for that." which he could, and would.
Dom could tell Adrian wasn't anywhere near as thrilled, nor amused, as he himself was. It wasn't as though he'd expected him to be- after all, he'd been aware of the others existence for six years. He was more than aware of the other man's general demeanor. Still, Dom couldn't bring himself not to try. Nodding, he took in what was being said, shrugging a bit at the end as he contemplated how to phrase what he wanted to say. "I think it's all about perspective. Maybe they aren't the best, or maybe they aren't your taste. But, they've still created something. And, not only did they create something, but they then were brave enough to come out and share it with complete strangers. That's pretty...I don't know, beautiful. To me at least."
the parkinson family have always commanded a high level of attention, good or bad, it was all the same. pansy was no different, except where her parents may do it to get where they need to be, when they need to be there, pansy gains so much more from it than that. so to be so rudely stepped in front of, whoever this was either knew what they were doing or were looking for trouble and this serpent was happy to give it to them. an annoyed sigh passed her lips and she shifted her weight from one hip to the other, the person who tempted their fate just happened to be ariella, a witch who was very lucky they were a fellow slytherin. pansy's sharp gaze softened only slightly just so she could give the witch an exaggerated eye roll. "i don't think i will. i respect myself way too much, watch your step next time babe." after flashing a smirk to the other witch, pansy resumed her original act of reaching for a sugar quill, leaning into ariella's space, pulling back only when she had two sugar quills in her grasp. "for you?" she offered one of the quills, wiggling it playfully.
Of course Ariella was no stranger to Pansy, nor to the legacy and reputation the other woman's family had built. Still, that certainly held no intimidation factor for her- a fact that was obvious by the way she stood her ground. Had the returned quip come from anyone else, chances were Ariella would have drawn her wand immediately, unwilling to allow most anyone to speak to her in such a manner. Though, the fact remained that Pansy was a fellow Slytherin, and despite the rudeness they'd both displayed, at the end of the day Ari couldn't help but to feel a certain sort of kinship with the other. The eye roll came and the witch shook her head, returning the gesture with one of her own before shifting slightly to allow the other a mere modicum of space to reach for her favorite treat. When the quill was offered she cocked an eyebrow, reaching forward slowly. "I'll take it, yes." Plucking the quill from Pansy's grasp, Ariella gave a slight smirk before folding her lips around the tip of the sugared feather, eyes never leaving the other's. "So, enjoying the festival are you?" She asked.
melinda's eyes overanalyzed her tree at its current state, trying her best to see what the other witch was saying. she would not classify herself as a perfectionist, not completely, but when it came to arts and crafts she did turn into a little bit of one. it just did not look good to her until it was perfect. "i'll have to just take your word for it, its got a long way to go and a lot more i want to add before i can share that sentiment." the curly headed witch pulled her attention away from the tree in front of her and back to her fellow ravenclaw. "where's your tree?"
Watching the way Melinda scrutinized her tree, Emmy couldn't help but to be the slightest bit amused. The drive and determination the other showed, along with the care she put into her tree had Ravenclaw written all over it, something she saw both the humor and beauty in. "You should. Take my word I mean. Because I'm telling the truth." Nodding, Emmy offered her reassurance. Melinda's question took her off-guard though it shouldn't have, considering where she was. "Me? Oh, you don't want me to decorate a tree. I think they're gorgeous, but I'm definitely nowhere near as talented as you, or anyone else for that matter."
event starter: open | @fideliusstarters location: honeydukes
as pansy took a step into the brightly colored candy shop, the bell chimed. the intense fragrance of sweets hitting her like a brick to her senses. it appeared that honeydukes being her first stop was not as original as she had thought, the building was packed with students. the snake slid through the crowd, heading straight to her usual sweet of choice. "you can wait. or i can hex you, pick now or i'll pick for you." she snapped as someone stepped in front of her outstretched hand that had been reaching for a sugar quill.
Sweets of any kind were, generally speaking, a food group Ariella avoided at all costs. Having been raised by a woman many considered to be a beauty guru, much of her education in life had boiled down to one thing and one thing alone- always look good. No matter the cost. Even so, with the festival in full swing there was no way she was going to return to Hogwarts without stopping by Honeydukes for at least a couple of 'treats'. Arms crossed over her chest, she scanned the shelves, attempting to make her selection. Just as she'd decided to pick up a couple of the sugar quills, a familiar and biting voice caught her attention. Turning slowly, Ariella cocked both her head and an eyebrow, looking her fellow fifth year and fellow Slytherin in the eye. "Well good afternoon to you too, gorgeous. Would you cool it?">

"don't look, it's not finish yet!" melinda exclaimed to the person next to her as she tried her best to shield her tree using her arms, only to give up, chuckling as she went back to decorating her tree. "ok, you can look, but you've got to trust the process." with just a quick glance in their direction, she tried her best to give a serious look before then directing her attention back to the array of decorations in front of her.
Emmy smiled as she made her way through Dogweed and Deathcap, her head on a swivel and eyes bouncing between tables as she took in the trees being decorated all around her. Taking in a deep breath, she took several moments to appreciate the smells surrounding her, as well as the sounds. They had officially reached her favorite time of year, and she could not have been more excited to explore this year's festival. Spotting a familiar face nearby, Emmy made her way over to Melinda's table. Laughing, she shook her head a bit, holding out her palm in an apologetic gesture. "Hey, no worries! I cast absolutely no judgement!" Peeking around Melinda's hands, a smile immediately came to her face. "Oh my gosh, it looks so good! I don't know why you're trying to hide it!"

adrian sat himself as far from the stage as he could. it wasn't like he hated the open mic aspect of the festival, in fact there had been quite a few talented people to grace the stage, but with every talented witch or wizard, there were twice the amount of untalented. the current person on mic at the moment had his skin crawling. "i knew should have gone to the hog's head." he muttered to himself, shaking his head.
The festival was an event Dominic looked forward to each and every school year. Despite the fact that nearly everything was similar to the setup from the past year, and the year before that and the year before that, there was no denying the excitement practically radiating from his body. really, events of all kinds stirred something of a childlike wonder within Dom- something about the people, the food, the activities, and the atmosphere was magical to him (no pun intended). And, historically, the Open Mic event hosted by the Three Broomsticks had been one of his favorites. This year was no exception either- he was even excited to see those who others might have considered talentless- ultimately, he simply admired the ability to perform in front of a crowd. That fact alone made each performance worth watching, in his mind. Settling into a chair near the back, Dom took a sip of his butterbeer and settled in for the show, though he was quickly pulled from his bubble by a nearby commentator. Glancing over, he saw Adrian, another sixth year. Offering a nod, Dominic leaned over to reply. "Awe, don't be that way. You can't tell me you aren't having a real blast here! And, if you can...Maybe you need something a bit stronger than butterbeer." He added with a wink.
