By the stars, it somehow is.

It's been a long while, hasn't it? Allow me to share some updates on the situation.

I still don't have the renovations done yet - admittedly, I've hardly started. Still working on saving up for that... So as it stands, it's likely this could very well be my only release until fall, when this abysmal heat wave passes us by. Death to oil executives. To try to do anything to balance my productivity, I've been testing out larger batches with the safest colour - that being black - to fantastic results so far. Ideally I can make them even larger, but I have yet to see if my colour formulas are messed up by the increase in direct quantity. Time will tell, if I ever get the time again.

The other pressure pot has been busy making molds, which I've also been trying to make more efficiently. It's only slightly working, but still it's nice to have some old molds replaced.

I unfortunately don't have anything exciting to share regarding new colours, as again I've had very little opportunity to test and what I have taken hasn't yielded any exciting results. There are still new masks in Reclamation though, if folks are looking for strange ones. I was really hoping a test would get me something back with a big hurrah, but I'll take being here at all over fading into the ether.

The colour match to most of them are fantastic! The fact that I can have a dark-purple gen 1 kanohi is truly amazing. Plus as seen from my selection every design from 2001 they have done a cast for.

OH WAIT

Minor updates and a potentially major one depending on community interest. I'll start with the smaller one.

I've been looking into even more sources of pigments for my work now to hopefully get more accurate colours much faster. A lot of stuff I've been using has basically been craft hobbyist stuff aside from the resin itself, and the sheer breadth I've found from this new source should hopefully make things a lot smoother going forward. But time will tell.

For the bigger news! A new events venue in southern Ontario has reached out to me about hosting something there as they look for ideas to get their name out - specifically by their suggestion, a mini Bionicle convention of sorts.

While the space is vastly smaller than what you'd see at a Comic Con or Bricks In The Six, I'm hoping that'd be balanced out by this being a more niche interest. I still need to gather more info about capacity limits and scheduling from them, of course, but I don't wanna invest much into this unless I know there's interest. So lemme know!

I have no idea what sparked it, but I just got a wave of orders recently - many revisits, some unfamiliar names. I haven't had anything new to put out lately (and I've already shown off the cool masks in Reclamation for Mask Monday) which has been a total bummer, but it's real nice to know people are still interested.

Hey everyone! Been a while since I've had something to say or share, hasn't it? So let's talk.

First and foremost - it's winter. The fall cold was tricky enough, but even early winter cold makes my current lab unusable. I've likely mentioned somewhere that I'm in touch with a contractor to get the space professionally renovated instead of flailing around by myself again, so hopefully we can finalize the plan sooner than later.

Now onto the primary news.

My last times doing lab work, I recorded the times for each step. I took careful notes on material quantities used, price of those in the modern economy, and compared all of this by how many masks can be made with a mold and how many in a batch. See, I don't like how expensive my masks are. The whole point of this project is accessibility - making available extremely rare or non-existent parts for the community to go wild with! Putting a price barrier in front of that at all feels bad, but I have to in order to maintain the ability to keep making them.

So, I'm as pleased with the results as I am disappointed in my past self to announce that all my prices are being reduced! Idk how I messed up the math the first time, but apparently I did.

So, to make up for that, the current stock of Metru Matoran masks has also been reduced to the new price of normal masks, and will remain so until I can release a new wave of them at the very least, when I'll be able to recalculate those prices specifically. On top of that, every order placed for the rest of the month at least will include a bonus mask from the Reclamation Yard as a little thank you!

Well. It's Monday again, somehow.

Gonna be completely real folks, I haven't entered the lab in two weeks. Been far too busy for that to be consistent.

Now, the cold weather's coming in. It's gonna be getting harder to do anything in there, because — surprise! — the place still isn't insulated or sealed. Really expensive process, that. And with (the situation in the USA) right now effectively cutting me off from the majority of my audience, I haven't had the time, energy, or finances to justify shoving myself back in there to work.

Suffice to say, progress is going to be really slow for the foreseeable future - I'd assume for the rest of the year, to be safe, as a minimum. Gonna be a while before I can save up the funds for the further renovations, and there aren't any other places I can get anything done.

For those of you subscribed to my Patreon, this also means there won't be any Sneak Peek Saturdays for the rest of the year either - and with no reason to stay subscribed, it only makes sense to drop that. Keep your money to brave the cold.

I'll of course still be around! Always open to chat, love to talk ideas or the process. And when there *is* anything to report, I'll be doing so here and everywhere else.

I missed Mask Monday. Sorry about that. Been super busy lately. Over the course of the last week, I have only managed to make one (1) mold (haven't tested it yet) and make some rather sizable updates to the shop.

Notably, Metru Nui Matoran masks are now available as an independent listing. Or rather, each shape as an independent listing with colour options, so you can pick which masks you get. Now you're not dependent on randomness!

The Metru Nui Matoran Mystery Mask Packs have returned for their second wave! This time, Teal joins the mix for a bit more colour variety.

I'd very much like this time to be keeping them more steadily restocked instead of doing rare waves, but we'll see how feasible that is going forward.
