i like to sometimes think of Fox as pretty judgemental and not very understanding of "defective" clones (or just any of them who don't completely meet Kamino standard, bonus points if he also doesn't meet them) but extremely protective of them anyway and won't let them die or be singled out. it ends up creating complicated feelings towards him since this can look like him pointing out "flaws" and offering/forcing "fixes" (makeup, hair dye, expiremental treatments, etc.) unprompted while also preventing anybody from noticing and reporting these "flaws" in the first place, usually in incredibly convoluted, risky, and/or corrupt-cop ways. basically i just wonder about the clones who accept that it's only natural for the Bad Clones to die, but also try to protect these Bad Clones from their "natural fate" for whatever reason they tell themselves that somehow didn't completely shift their view of personhood.

i like to hc that Stone loves reading romance and mystery novels and has many (strong) opinions on them, and that if anyone asks, he will tell them all about what he loves/hates/doesnt care for in whatever book he's reading. at first a lot of his men aren't sure if he actually enjoys it at all since his voice is very flat, but once they realize it's a genuine interest, some begin to try and secretly read along with him to please/surprise him with their knowledge of the story even if they don't personally care for it. some of them also get into reading in general because of him, so you end up with a handful of clones named after popular fictional characters, actual noteworthy in-universe people, or just other names like Epilouge, Stanza, Hardcover (these names are rarer since physical books are harder for them to come by & excuse stealing from prisoners), Author, etc.

i like to think of Rex as an older brother or uncle-who-isn't-that-much-older-than-you figure to Anakin while maintaining the General-Captain hierarchy & respect they have for each other. and i think Anakin is the one who's awkard and unsure about this (for obvious reasons) meanwhile Rex barely picks up on or thinks deeply about the nuances of this dynamic outside of "is right now a good time to joke around or be personal" after a few months of working with Anakin sort of eases most worries, and he's usually focusing on more important stuff anyway. i think after working under Krell and Anakin returning is when this begins to change a bit and Rex starts really wondering about this, and if he should be following and making distinct boundaries instead of what they've been doing, but i don't believe he would really know where to go from there. i wish i could better articulate this idea.

idea: sometimes Stone will really enjoy the scenery of a planet he's on and send photos of it to the rest of the Coruscant Commanders and a good chunk of his men. Fox hasn't left the planet since he was stationed there, Thorn hardly ever leaves unless he's asked for, and Thire only leaves a little more than Thorn, so they all really appreciate it in their own ways (even though there might be some bitterness). Stone considers giving some of the more artisticslly inclined inmates and guardsmen a chance to recreate the images on canvas, for morale and all that, but isn't optimistic that he'd be able to get enough art supplies, even though he has a Commander Fox at his disposal.

Fox: laughs silently/quietly like someone who pities you but also looks down on you, and he probably does. every laugh is on purpose and strategically placed within the conversation. thinks natural laughter is inherently shameful but only for him.

Thorn: laughs loudly and deeply like a cartoon villain. lightning may strike. does that inhale afterwards like he’s never taken a breath in his life before, which is somehow louder. scares people on accident.

Stone: hasn’t laughed a day in his life. doesn’t even dream of laughing. his one remaining eyebrow and honesty is the only lifeline people have, unfortunately he is not a talker.

Thire: only does quiet chuckles/giggles, but somehow fully laughs exactly like Jango, which irritates every Commander and hypothetical ARC trooper that could hear. uses this for evil and to end unpleasant conversations.

The Coruscant Commanders have different ideas of fun. Stone considers mixing random ingredients (not usually stuff anyone should be ingesting or have even thought of ingesting) into drinks and trying out the concotions by himself without warning anybody pretty fun. Thorn likes to chase his men with sharp obects or repair tools, that's pretty exhilirating and fun when they run into / trip over stuff or when they give him barricades to get through. Fox gets a rush when long efforts of bribing and threats actually pays off without owing anyone else back and from insulting General Skywalker without him realizing. they all think Thire is insane and one of the most reckless people alive for going to clubs and hooking up with people btw

hc that a good chunk of Fox's bonding activities with visiting brothers is having a migraine together in his office, or whichever "safe" spot he's in, in complete silence. maybe he has a very specific thing that helps the visitor's migraines already set up (rare). he won't let "a simple headache" stop him from seeing his brothers, who may die within the next few days, for a couple of minutes, and he expects the same from them.

it would be really nice if Rex got his jaig eyes for any reason besides the battle/bravery reason. he or some other clone saw the design and thought they looked cool, so he or they simply put them on his helmet. or he wanted/needed to stand out, so he just picked a random design he used to see on Kamino, and maybe he didn't even know the meaning behind them beforehand. or maybe he did, and just didn't care one bit since there probably weren't going to be many mandalorians to terrorize him about it once he was deployed.

been liking the idea of Fox somehow learning that Fives is digging into the chips, and then going ahead to ask Rex if he could borrow the ARC trooper for training in a more urban area during shore leave. at this point in this scenario, Fox has already buttered Rex up enough to be on his good side, maybe even going so far as to call each other friends (albeit with different intentions), or maybe Rex just thinks that’s a good idea anyway, so this is agreed to. and so now Fox has Fives in his clutches, and can better control the situation without killing Fives (hopefully). Fox still gets to be controlling, manipulative, and threaten Fives’s life multiple times while getting his men (not him) to help Fives understand more about the chips and their theories, and how he can’t be as loud as he is about it unless he wants to get himself and others killed. whether this works at all is up to Fives though. and i like this becoming something Fox might do with notable troopers getting too close to truths, because he’s a good Big Brother like that

i know it’s “hatching” when it comes to clones being born so i wish some clones would use that to mess with people. Cody’s men say he’s so short compared to everyone else because his tube wasn’t incubated properly by the huge mechanical tip-yip in the center of every “nursery” (which is invisible to the jedi eye, obviously) and nobody noticed until it was too late. Rex has convinced Ahsoka that he’s blonde because he hatched too early and having too much of the yolk left over managed to stain his hair (he then pretends he never said this). Ponds casually mentions to Mace that he’s bald because he grows feathers on his head instead of hair, and this is the case with every bald trooper, you see. no, do not ask them that, it’s a waste of time when you’re going to get this exact answer every time. sir im serious

i love thinking of the clones preparing themselves for civilian life. obviously they can’t do much, but maybe Fox sends other Commanders information that he’s come across on Coruscant about things that are “common sense” for adults, like how to fix their own kitchen appliances, making a resume (though im not sure where he’d learn that), what having a regular doctor would be like, how to manage money, etc., and these Commanders can spread it to their men (as well as other stuff they learned on their own), who might have the time to learn. there’s also the possibility that a lot of these skills are already known, just not spread out, so maybe the chefs/custodians could show a neat trick or two to some other clones after the basics, who could show some other clones. so you have some clones already kind of set up if they survive + don’t all get recalled after the war. i just like it when they get the chance to do normal stuff :)

do you think that some clones would joke that the quickest way to get full rights & abilities to apply for citizenship just like any other human (if they believe they could get to that point) is to let it slip to somebody that they’d also have to pay taxes like everyone else? do you think they are generally unaware of what actual taxes are and the ins and outs (even if they know the word “tax”)? i believe Fox and Ponds know and try to explain, just in case clones are kept around after the war.

thinking of Fox’s weird energy drinks again. do you think he asks GAR Commanders to bring back the venom sacks or poison glands of some creatures just to experiment with adding them to his ultra sweet heart attack neutron star four lokos or

i like to think of Stone being spoiled by the other Coruscant Commanders (except Thire), even if spoiled doesn’t seem entirely like the right word. He wants a certain fruit after a bad mission just to cheer himself up, so Thorn inflicts himself upon a marketplace that afternoon and gets an entire crate full of that specific fruit by any means necessary (despite Stone not saying any of this out loud). Stone hesitantly admitted to his scars starting to hurt again while having a migraine, so Fox cleared his schedule for the day by forcing others to take on his duties (even taking on some of them himself), and bribed/threatened the prisoners just so they’re less likely to not try anything that day, all so Stone could take the day to treat his pain as much as he can and relax.

i like when ppl make Fox power hungry, extremely invasive, and manipulative because he’s scared. Fox is downright obsessed with always knowing everything, always having control over a situation, and if he doesn’t have control, then having more than enough power to change whatever’s happening to work in his favor (which usually results in him gaining control). he’s scarily powerful by clone standards and gets what he wants because he lives in a world where clones aren’t people, so he sees this as the only way to ensure that at least his men and closest brothers survive to see a world where this isn’t true, regardless of what he has to do. & no need for palpatine to corrupt him, he’s already doing that himself lol

sometimes Fox tries very hard to teach Wolffe all the social intricacies that he’s learned but each time ends in failure because Wolffe could see and understand the point in all of it, but ultimately will not care for or do anything Fox teaches. Fox will tell him “now lie about these expenses and imply im a useless addict nepo baby” and Wolffe will respond with “im not doing that” and ask what a nepo baby is in a completely uninterested tone. Fox finds it slightly endearing and will sort of defend this behavior in his own way so that Wolffe doesn’t have to change for anybody, but it does get on his nerves when he has to be around him at social events that he didn’t personally organize (and therefore cannot completely control). one scenario i like to imagine is them both answering the same question, with Fox giving a very confusing, convoluted and subtly insulting answer. meanwhile Wolffe just says “sure/no” and walks off

i hc Wolffe and Fox to be each other’s favorite opposite in a general sense, but my personal favorite way is in how they speak about each other. Wolffe often praises Fox if talking about/to him (don’t let the flat affect fool you), but doesn’t usually exaggerate anything his brother has done or might do, he’s just not that type of guy, really. but when he is genuinely criticizing or insulting Fox, it is very no-nonsense and spoken in the same way praise is. but Fox will invent new types of busses to throw Wolffe under, and reveal him to be specifically created to drain color from the world and give people contact agoraphobia, stuff like that to avoid giving others the chance to see that Wolffe has real meaning to him. however, he will sometimes very subtly and quietly praise Wolffe to his face, to his own men, and maybe even to other Commanders if he feels that everyone’s getting too comfortable with where they stand in his eyes (very normal behavior by the way). i see them having two entirely different ways of communicating (wrecking ball vs labyrinth prisoner), it’s amazing they still get along as well as they do
