#I have deep abiding feelings about bouldin creek cafe#starting from when we would go when I was in high school and it was in its old Elizabeth street location#playing the 1960s trivial pursuit on the deck and getting like two answers#and after moving back home from college and going to grad school at UT#sitting up at the bar and getting the half slackers with salad while I did homework#Clare and I used to go daily#I’d get coffee and she’d get the mint maté and sometimes I’d get the mint maté if it was later in the day#and chatting with Leslie while he bussed tables#when I talk about missing a home that doesn’t exist anymore this is a prime example#I haven’t been back to Austin in a couple years but when my dad still lived there I’d try to go to bouldin by myself#so I could get a seat at the bar and get a garden breakfast or slackers#I’m glad they’re successful but it’s bittersweet
