Just so you know, a normal response to a child breaking something is to first check to see if they got hurt and then if they’re old enough make them help clean it up. And then afterwards explaining to them how to avoid doing that in the future. At no point is yelling necessary to make them understand why they shouldn’t do that.
This also works for teenz. Teenager get drunk? Well, that’s a good opportunity to check in with their mental health and teach them how to drink responsibly in the future. Don’t try to match the amount your boyfriend drinks, Jessica. You have an estrogen system and you’re like four feet tall. Eat some bread.
A lot of people say this method is “too soft” but my dad taught me how to drink when I was fifteen and I never once got yelled at for breaking things and guess who doesn’t go around binge drinking and breaking stuff over peoples heads? Me, that’s who. I didn’t need fear or treats to learn things because I’m not a dog and neither is your child
As someone whose father was the “yell about it” type of parent, I eventually figured out that if he was determined to see everything I did as intentionally malicious no matter what, then I had nothing to lose or gain by putting the effort in and just quit trying. I already knew not to break things on purpose because I wasn’t an idiot, but I had no reason to be polite or generous with HIM because he made it clear through his actions that effort or intent would never be appreciated.
I moved out at 17 and didn’t talk to him again till I was 25.
If your actions show that you are determined to see someone as malicious, they will eventually become malicious.

The onion absolutely skewering AI tech bros.
Tumblr is doing some stupid AI shit so go to blog settings > Visibility > Prevent third-party sharing.
also use Nightshade and Glaze to protect your artwork and images!!!!
here's a link to Nightshade
here's a link to Glaze
best combination is usin Nightshade then Glaze on your images. Glaze creates a protective layer and Nightshade poisons the A.I. software.
It's the best defense we've got from all this (the bar is so fucking low)
Please be aware that the "opt-out" choice is just a way to try to appease people. But Tumblr has not been transparent about when has data been sold and shared with AI companies, and there are sources that confirm that data has already been shared before the toggle was even provided to users.
Also, it seems to include data they should not have been able to give under any circumstance, including that of deactivated blogs, private messages and conversations, stuff from private blogs, and so on.
Do not believe that "AI companies will honor the "opt-out request retroactively". Once they've got their hands on your data (and they have), they won't be "honoring" an opt-out option retroactively. There is no way to confirm or deny what data do they have: The fact they are completely opaque on what do they currently "own" and have, means that they can do whatever they want with it. How can you prove they have your data if they don't give everyone free access to see what they've stolen already?
So, yeah, opt out of data sharing, but be aware that this isn't stopping anyone from taking your data. They already have been taking it, before you were given that option. Go and go to Tumblr's Suppport and leave your Feedback on this (politely, but firmly- not everyone in the company is responsible for this.)
Finally: Opt out is not good under any circumstance. Deactivated people can't opt out. People who have lost their passwords can't opt out. People who can't access internet or computers can't opt out. People who had their content reposted can't opt out. Dead people can't opt out. When DeviantArt released their AI image generator, saying that it wasn't trained on people who didn't consent to it, it was proven it could easily replicate the styles of people who had passed away, as seen here. So, yeah. AI companies cannot be trusted to have any sort of respect for people's data and content, because this entire thing is just a data laundering scheme.
Please do reblog for awareness.
By the way, I think it’s important to note that DeviantArt wants to monetize their AI tool, too. You need a monthly subscription service to use it (after a few free tries), and they charge additional for several uses. They are stealing your art + making cash out of it
Which does show how DeviantArt never intended this tool to help artists, as much as to make money for themselves by ripping shit from their userbase. I was trying to see if it could recreate my stuff, just to see if I’m getting sourced, and that popped up.
EDIT:
I inserted the word “qinni” and it generated these. For context, Qinny was a popular and beloved artist on DeviantArt who passed away not too long ago. One of the main issues about the opt-out system is that deceased artists CANNOT opt out. This is what her usual style looks like:
Yeah, wherever Deviantart’s own AI is getting it’s art from, it’s definitely sourcing from people who could have never consented to it.
Please reblog for awareness, I haven’t seen people discuss what is their own AI tool actually for!
