Woot Woot! Vambraces are Done!

Fenris has made it to Pax!

The Vambraces are practically done! I've laced them with 2mm round leather. Unfortunately, the black is already starting to come off as it scrapes through the metal holes. I was hoping to put eyelets in but they were a touch too short to get through both the leather and metal and a smidgen too wide for the pre drilled holes.

More progress on the vambraces. Finished rolling the edges around the wrist, just don't look too close, they're not exactly straight. Added a line of hot glue at the back of eaxh feather as they were quite floppy. Glued the feathers to the leather backing with shoe glue. Sanded the metal plates, at 80 grit in the photos, then 120, 240 and finally 600 grit to make them shine.

Shaped the vambraces today. Also rolled the edges of the left wrist. Will roll the right tomorrow. Time for a nap

I quite like my not feathers

A dozen leather "feathers". Printed out 3 feather silhouettes. Traced and cut out 4 of each with 2 facing left and 2 facing right. Then added the details with a scratching awl.

Trace out the vambraces on leather. This will act as the hinge between the two metal plates, protect my bare arm and provide something for the rivets to grip to. Then cry when you realise that your right arm is wider than your left arm which you took the measurements off.

Have cut out the pieces for the breast plate and vambraces. All edges have been rounded and sanded - there will be no accidental cuts to me!

Started reworking Fenris' vambraces today. Patterned, traced and half the holes for the lacing and hinge cut out.

Finally getting round to adding the colour strip around the edges of Fenris’s coat/top. Because I’ve already constructed the coat and it’s leather, I’m painting it with leather paints.
