It’s very telling that people need “actively racist” to dump jj fully. You shouldn’t have to wait for her to drop the n word to realize her behavior is fucked up

Yeah, this angers me to no end. This fandom is much harder on homophobes than on racists and ignorant white players. When a player makes a homophobic comment they get punished harshly for it (totally valid), but when they refuse to support black teammates it’s waived away.

We excuse the fact that white players don’t care about the lives of black people, but we boo them for 5 years when they refuse to wear a rainbow jersey and don’t agree with gay marriage. Don’t get me wrong, i don’t give a fuck about Hinkle and i think she got everything she deserved, but why is the double standard okay?

Why do we say that white players need time to learn and grow (4! years after Pinoe kneeled and was punished for it) while we expect them all to be okay with rainbow jerseys from the get go? Basically we’re saying that opposing racism takes years to get behind but people should promote homosexuality from the moment they first encounter it.

Are we going to boo Kelley for not kneeling, doing nothing for BLM, playing victim and claiming she didn’t kneel because SHE was more comfortable standing? No, because being anti racist is optional while being pro gay is required in this fandom.

Wipe your rainbow covered glasses clean and realize that this double standard is part of the toxic system that needs to be abolished. Players can not be pro gay if they are not anti racist, black people are a big and important part of our community and it’s time they are recognized as such!
