4x07: It's the Great Pumkin, Sam Winchester
Really enjoyed this one! It did have the most offensive one-off joke in a hot minute which sucked super bad, but the episode around the joke was solid. And it had lots of Cas in it 🥰
The amount of endorphines I get from Cas appearing on my screen is actually a bit embarassing
But seriously What was up with all the sexualizing the teenager in this one. I hated that real bad!!!!
I continue struggle to engage with Sam's storyline this season on the show's terms. Which is to say he used his powers again and this didn't exactly produce a gasp of shock or apprehension.
I was interested by Dean's reaction to seeing Sam use his powers again being heartbroken, but not apparently angry? Will have to wait and see the outfall since they haven't talked about it, but in context of this Dean saying that if given a second go he'd make the same choice no question definitely stood out in context of this.
I did feel for Sam's dissalusionment meeting the angels. The idea of some cosmic good is such a big thing to lose, all the more so given what their lives are like.
Also found Dean trying to help Sam find ways to still hold on to the hope he gets through faith genuinely sweet. I'm curious how much if at all he believed it himself—he's made a number of comments about heavenly purpose and whatnot in the last few episodes, but always in circumstances where he would have had reason to put on a front.
Just in general I don't really have a read on how Dean feels about the whole heavenly mission thing.
Cas, meanwhile!!! Of course I'm watching this with context of his whole character arc, but that bench scene must of hit like a hammer the first time around
Really really interesting and fun to watch Cas and Dean interact with others around, and also to watch an angel who isn't Cas interact with Dean. Will definitely circle back to that!!
