explaining this piece:

Project Hail Mary uses red lines, to symbolize the antagonist, astrophage. This scene parallels the scene in which Ryland is tackled to the ground, and forced onto the mission, but this is different, in this scene, he cannot call for help (rocky will die in his atmosphere) nor can he move, due to the excessive centrifugal gravity (is that how you say it? they were spinning quickly and lots of gravity. ok? ok)

Venus is behind him, because Venus is connected to the Sun, which is connected to Earth, and Earth has humanity, that's who he's supposed to save. In this moment, he's thinking about humanity, that he will die and humanity will too.

Adrian is in front of him, because that's connected to Erid, Rocky's home planet, and Rocky had left his home, to save Eridians, so no longer does he worry about just 7 billion people, but however many Eridians there are.

The blood to the petrova line connects these two planets, and him, shows that he has a deep responsibility for both planets, but he doesn't know how. He's stuck.

"You are the stars," = you are the universe experiencing itself.
