@1sttumblscouts
Hi, I am Alex and I am ACC diversity and inclusion for Durham county. This time last year, me and others had the privilege to organise and attend northern pride in Newcastle! We had a stall and we gave out information, glitter and sweets. It was amazing! I am so honoured to be a part of the LGBT+ community and scouting, and I am grateful that I have such a supportive county behind me and that I am able to enducate and help my fello scouters! ❤️🏳️🌈
Happy Pride month!!
Since most of us are still stuck at home, and there’s not much scouting going on right now, I’ve decided to start up my Queer Scouting project again.
This year with a little twist!
Do you have photos of you taking part in a Pride event with scouting or guiding? Have you visited the Rainbow Cafe at a camp? Do you have many queer friends within scouting?
This time I want to hear about your best memories. I want to see your most colourful, rainbow filled photos. I want to hear about how much fun you have had.

Most faces have been scribbled out digitally for privacy reasons, but mine. I am also keeping my troop name secret for my own privacy.

I went to pride in Amsterdam with scouting a while back, I can look for some photo's when I'm back home.
At the moment I do think I have more queer friends whitin scouting then non-queer friends. Whitin my own group it is thankfully fully accepted to be queer.
I haven't been to any Rainbow café, but I'm planning with some people to organize one in de future at a camp.
Happy Pride month!!

Oof, I haven't participated in any pride yet, so I don't have pictures and stories, but we did have more LGBT+ people in our explorer unit than we had cishets, which was interesting! Our NSO had a boat on the Amsterdam Gay Pride and has a pride badge, woggle and scarf :)
Brilliant! At my Explorer group we had almost every identity covered. We used to joke that we could be our own Pride Parade.
Happy Pride month!!

Whilst staying at home to help halt the spread of the virus, Phoenix Explorers have been keeping very busy with our online meetings!
So far, we have been having our weekly meetings on Zoom. During these video calls, we talk about what we have done over the past week, discuss potential expeditions we could go once the lock-down ends, and do easily accessible activities such as painting and bingo! In addition to this, we are set a weekly challenge to complete each week, and we share the results with the unit during the following week’s call. It’s helping us to develop new and interesting skills.

While we’re all safe at home and unable to meet, how is Scouting and Guiding still carrying on in your group?
Unfortunately both our cub leaders (me and Akela) are keyworkers, and are a little stressed out at the minute, so scouting for 25th Barugh is pretty much on pause. We are still checking in regularly, and sending out activities to do at home when we find them.
Hopefully it won’t be too long before we can get back to normal meetings, but until then, stay safe!
