 can i take a minute to talk about how newt explaining what he saw to pentecost post-drift is my favorite scene in the entire goddamn movie and one of my favorites of the entire series???? his drift with hermann is pretty superb too but it’s still pretty second to the one i’m about to go on about. 

this one is my favorite because of the ENERGY and how powerful charlie’s acting is. like the shaking, the rapid speech, just everything he put into this specific performance of the scene just makes you feel the anxiety and frayed nerves in your own system. i mean, yeah the information he’s relaying is pretty interesting and important but it’s the portrayal and delivery that kills me. like you can FEEL that he’s pretty scrambled and shaken up yet still in part himself when he takes that quick moment to start arguing with hermann before pentecost breaks them up. not to mention the face journey as he asks if they do actually have a fresh kaiju brain for him to perform another drift with. 

idk this was a dumb ramble but i just really love this scene and i love charlie a lot… like it’s a perfect example of his range and his ability to depict such situations, especially when compared to his other roles… this scene just hits me right down to my bones, ya know……..

No that was the score I got. I’ve taken IQ tests before in high school and was always around 140. It’s just logical intelligence, though. Not social, not artistic, not really even book smarts. It’s basically a score of how good you are at problem solving and isn’t really indicative of your overall intelligence. Honestly I consider myself in all other aspects to be of average intelligence. I have problems with social queues as well and problems retaining information.

A couple years ago an instructor at my college who taught basic programming courses for game design majors posted on his facebook that a bunch of his incoming freshmen didn’t know how to create a zip file. 

A lot of public schools dropped their computer literacy courses in the early 2000s because they just assumed kids would “learn it at home.” There’s a whole generation of kids who only know how to navigate a touchscreen phone/tablet. They’ve never used a laptop or desktop.
