In greek mythology, Clytie was in love with Apollo, who initially loved her back, but later left her for Leucothea. Clytie was so mad and determined to have him back, that told Leucothea's father about the affair and since Apollo defiled her, Orchamus put his daughter to death by burial alive in the sand. Clytie's actions only hardened Apollo's heart against her, so she decided to strip herself and sit naked staring at the sun, with neither food nor drink.
