A big part of me really hopes we get more Candela Obscura (either the show or official material) from Critical Role/Darrington Press soon. The vibes are still utterly immaculate and I frankly think it's been left mostly abandoned in terms of anything big coming out about it. No expansion books, no second wave of the actual play (which isn't necessarily needed but man I want it, I keep thinking about the potential circles), nothing. Which isn't to say there isn't people out there keeping it alive but in terms of anything from Critical Role itself? Radio silence.

I saw Mother Mary in theaters today and my eyes were blessed. The freakish toxic yuri of my dreams. What if we haunted each other across oceans, across years. What if I knew you by the taste in my mouth when you draw near. What if I showed up at your doorstep wet and bedraggled from the rain. "I didn't know where else to go." What if I fingered your chest pussy in order to drag out the ghost of our love.

just the way Mother Mary looked at Sam when she said she hasn't listened to her music since their divorce falling out like... silently wanting to scream because she wrote those songs for you Sam every single one of those songs was for you. calling out to you, seeking you and you never listened a single one? not one word? the devastation that the root of her entire life's work was for nothing like... believing that if she just wrote the right song, toiled tirelessly then she could get her back. make amends. reach her finally but no song would ever fix it because she wasn't listening... god when that realization hits her it's just... GODDDD this movie just gets me.

Ok some thoughts on Mother Mary:

- this will absolutely not be a movie for everyone, some people will absolutely find it insufferable. I think those people are wrong but I know they exist and I guess they can have opinions or whatever

- it’s not horror, it’s not drama, it’s not a musical, it’s not a love story, it’s not a ghost story, it’s somehow all of those things nonetheless

- there’s gore but it’s not gorey. There’s no sex but there is essentially sex. The gore and the sex are related

- it’s mostly Mary and Sam just talking for 2 hours

- if scientists had gone into a lab and created a movie perfectly engineered to delight me specifically, it would be this movie, I easily rated it 5 stars on letterboxd
