grind and get grinded. indulge and eat chocolates and cheese, but eat healthy and cook. sit around and be lazy bums, but enjoy yoga, runs, and being active! We like fancy things and work our butts for it, or even better, get them half price. It's a balanced life we live if you ask me! Summer Essentials: A GREAT Pair of Sunnies. 

It’s Friday, my bags are packed for a weekend trip. What about you? I’m finding that these mini get aways and day trips are giving me a positive way of life. Be the change and stay inspired! I’m packing very minimal for this trip, simple things to wear and easy to just throw on. It’s summer, simple is better! I think that to get me through this Summer is going to be a great pair of sunglasses that can dress your outfit up or dress it down.

Rain or shine, I’m wearing my new Q/A x Shay Mitchell Sunglasses. If you follow us on Instagram, we posted at the beginning of Summer about these beautiful sunglasses that we just had to have and well.. I finally got my hands on them.

Quay is great. They have so many beautiful pairs it’s hard to choose, but no matter what you decide on you’re getting a great pair! Most running around $45, it’s such a great deal and such a great piece to add to the wardrobe! This specific pair is a collaboration between QUAY and Shay Mitchell, square shaped and all black everything-- just for $60!

Funky little home we have :) We have been meaning to rearrange and today seemed like a good day to do that. I wish I had taken before photos, but it was a mess! We used to not utilize all the floor space we have. All furniture pushed to the outer edge of the apartment and open floor plan, but I'm really happy with this island we now have in our kitchen and desk moved towards the hallway and having that there gives more space to turn the corner into the hallway. The walls. I love the walls. Or should I say the wall, singular. We have a yellowish colored accent wall. There's a theme of mermaids and mini vanity mirrors. It [wall] portrays culture, spirit, and heart. A representation of who we are, where we're from, what we love. It's pretty cool. Found some photos that are very worthy of the refrigerator! Gems. My bike is also now out of the way as well! Huge relief. We also have a nook/coat closet. In New York you get creative! Created a divider with a curtain because we have a couch bed in there. It's used as our reading room! We have to spice up that corner and make it more homey! Perhaps that will be my next before and after task. Yay. Honestly, this is a good start to my long weekend. So many friends are visiting and it's gotta be amazing for them! What is everyone's plan for the long weekend? Any fun summer trips in the works? Share it with us! There's something in the air and its not just the pollen🐝 There is something about this time of year that is making people in this great city smile. Perhaps it's the sun, perhaps it's love, perhaps it's just happiness. I say this in hopes of not cursing us with more snow, but winter is officially over! New York is known for this strange Springtime weather. It's this weird low 60s- high 70s weather that no one really knows how to dress for. I regularly see people in my neighborhood and on the subway in a strange variety of clothing. Some are still bundled in their snorkel jackets- I just shake my head in confusion and hope that they got an extra early start that morning. Then there are also those who are dressed for MTV spring break in Cancun. My best advice to dress for this confusing time while still being able to enjoy the sun on your skin is layers. I know so basic and so played, but there's truth to what I'm saying. Dress like you would for the high of the day, but make sure to bring a light sweater or jean jacket especially if you know you're going to be out and about past sundown. I made this epic mistake about a week ago. I had enjoyed the first hot day out in the park getting my vitamin D on and then left for work half sun drunk and expecting it to still be warm when I got out at 9pm. WRONG. Froze all the way home and got stares from all the suits on the train. So moral of the story: LAYER! Mother's Day weekend is upon us and so is some great weather! Hit the beach with mom or go to the vineyards or maybe even hit an outdoor brunch. Be nice to your mothers on this day and always! She did after all give you life🌱be grateful💐 Happy Friday! Mwaa💋

I enjoy home cooked meals. They are hard to come by as you get older and realize grandma's cooking was so much better! Half the battle living in New York City is grocery shopping and getting what you need (and don't really need) in one trip, 1/4 time, and the last 1/4 is energy. That's where Ritual comes in. A meal delivery service that brings you just the right amount of ingredients for 1 meal with the directions and nutritional facts. Ingredients labeled, because we all know I don't know the difference between parsley and basil (that is no joke), and directions included! I think the coolest part about this versus a meals to go kind of service is that you get the fresh ingredients and still get to chop and mix and season to create your home cooked meal! Pictured above is the ingredients and finished meal. I got home late and didn't want to eat super late so what I did was meal prep it for lunch the next day. Granted I didn't have it freshly made, but it was still tasty and I feel better about eating that than ordering take out for lunch. I will say this-- the directions I got and what I thought I ordered was lemon herb chicken, but received porkchop. Not a huge deal, but for others it may have been. In a nutshell, if I could afford to do a service like this regularly I would! I'm happy I tried it and have the option. It's great for the times I am cutting weight for competition and need healthier options than what's around the corner or pressed for time. I can spend more time training rather than grocery shopping. They offer a number of menus for the different diet types, too! I obviously ordered from the omnivore menu, but they also offer pescatarian, vegetarian, and paleo! Oh! And before I forget Ritual's brand is aesthetically beautiful, another reason I am drawn to it. Looking forward to seeing what other things they do to build their brand. Seems like they have a wonderful team of creative heads. Hope this post brings you some insight on how city living doesn't need to be hard and that healthy options are always around! I won't lie, healthy often means more $$ but like I always say, "you're worth the investment!" Xo, Fayebear

2closetsarebetterthan1 wishes all of you babes a very happy Earth Day! One thing that I feel is made pretty clear by the name of our blog is that we're into reusing and repurposing. There are quite a few pieces in both my closet and Faye's that have been given by a friend, swapped for another piece or acquired from a consignment or thrift store. I love a great thrift store find! It feels like you've stuck gold💰 but I also love the feeling of seeing something you don't wear anymore find a good home amongst my friends. This week or this month or whenever you find the time you all should clean out your closets and set up clothing swaps with your friends. Whatever doesn't get picked up- donate or take to a store like Crossroads or Buffalo Exchange. It will feel good. Trust me. It's been a slow, but ongoing process for me.

Other things that you can do to celebrate earth day are participate in a ride sharing programs like zipcar or take an uber. These are two companies that I feel passionately about. I use uber all the time and I've been a zipcar member for over 5 years. The picture above is from the zipcar I rented today! Additionally Uber is doing a week long promotion in honor of of earth day. They are offering $5 uberpool rides in Manhattan. Take advantage if you're in the city this week!

Now here's a little update from the weekend! Fayebear rocked Boston and took home the gold in her BJJ tourney! So proud of her and all of her hard work. I ran a half this weekend. I have been fighting some chest congestion for the last week. That being said I didn't have my best performance but still ran it in under two hours which was my goal.

Happy Monday beautiful people! I hope that you've all had fulfilling and relaxing weekends! I know that Faye & I did- even though we didn't spend it together. Faye participated in a BJJ tournament over the weekend at City College. She battled it out in a higher weight class than she usually competes in because she felt strong and didn't want to lose that as a result of cutting weight. She fought with lots of heart on Saturday, but ended up losing by 2 points. Sunday she received the silver medal in the no Gi competition. She was robbed in the no Gi final, but needless to say I am so proud and it was a huge weekend for her. This coming weekend she'll take on a tournament in Beantown. I unfortunately/fortunately had to work Friday and Saturday evenings, so I jammed my whole weekend's worth of activities in on Sunday. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed a little bit of New York's springtime weather on Saturday. I picked up my race bib at NYRR headquarters on the Upper East Side and enjoyed a nice stroll to the Nike store on 57th street, as well as another great walk with the handsome BF to the New York Public Library. The answer to the question on your minds is...YES! I did feed my sneaker/shopping addiction and gave into the new Air Max 1 Ultra City collection. Nike came out with this gorgeous collection of floral printed Air Max 1's for International Women's Day. They were released in other countries on that day, but finally released in the U.S. on Saturday April 11th. I ended up with the Milan edition, but trust me I was so torn between all of the cities. Each print was a beautiful tribute to the city it represented. Enough about my sneaker addiction. Sunday was indeed a fun day! Woke up around 7:30am for NYRR's Run 4 the Parks 4 miler that was presented by the Nike Run Club. The weather was perfect for racing and ended up shaving 30 seconds off of my 4 mile race time. I'll take it for now, but I have a definite need to be faster. A need for speed if you will. Afterwards I had breakfast with my handsome BF and then got ready for a birthday brunch. Brunch was fantastic and so was the cannoli cake. I unfortunately didn't get any pictures of either, but there is a mirror selfie of my outfit! I wore my favorite jeans by Level 99. I've had them for years and they still fit incredibly well, they truly hug every curve in all of the right ways. I wore the Madewell Finch mules that I wore in the last post, this great black T from forever 21(looks like a basic black T but has some awesome detail on the sleeves that dresses it up), my Gucci aviators and my green velvet Gucci blazer (that was the ultimate find at Michael's Consignment on the UES). It was great catching up with my friends, but had to keep it moving for part 3 of this glorious Sunday Funday. I play in a women's soccer league on Sundays. Normally our games are in the morning or mid afternoon, but once every season we play a 9pm game at Pier 40 on the West Side of the City. It's a tough game for many reasons, but this time it was a struggle because I had already had a full day before the game. I came out and surprised myself with a strong game. I may have had a little extra incentive since the handsome BF was there, but I have also been feeling a lot stronger lately. We ended up tying 3-3. I had a goal off a very well placed corner kick and an assist. I'm not too disappointed with the tie. We'll come out on top next time. Go Monkeys! So here I am on Monday afternoon still smiling from my jam packed weekend and ready to face whatever this week has to throw at me. I hope you beautiful people have a lovely and productive week! Greetings from BK! Happy Easter Sunday, ya’ll. Exploring the hood and found a brunch spot nearby called Fonda Cubano! (right next door to Trans Am). One of those let’s be lazy mornings turned out to be pretty productive. After all, Easter should be with good company in good spirits! We went for a stroll towards Ridgewood and had some fun along the way!

Yesterday, we both added something new to our closets Nathalie bought these long sought after Madewell Finch Open Toe Mules. I, however, was not looking to buy anything but came across this Madewell Olive Green Biker Jacket on sale with an additional 30% off. It’s a good transition jacket from winter to spring. Nathalie, the jedi of shopping was so proud. . 

The wind was blowing today and kind of chilly, but when the sun shined on you, it’s definitely something you know you’ve missed so much. Pictured above, we rock our Sunday best with our new buys (happy Easter to us). Madewell overalls, forever 21 striped tee, black biker jacket, and new Madewell mules topped with Gucci aviators. The perfect balance of both worlds of casual and making a powerful statement. 

I’m not sure why, but I walked around feeling like Tom Cruise from Top Gun today. Shiny tights from LNA and ankle tan fringe boots with my comfortable cozy oversized turtle neck sweater. To be honest, the inspiration of this outfit came from Kendal Jenner, her stay classy comfortable look pre-fashion week go-to ‘fit. That might be a look to aim for more often!

Bushwick, Fonda Cubano was fantastic. Only open for 1 month so far, but it definitely got busy as the morning went on. The food was superb, service was great, and the owner was present and so personable. We welcome them into the neighborhood and hope that you go out and try them! They are working on their liquor licenses, so sorry folks it’s a virgin brunch, but brunch is great no matter what! The food is worth it.
