imagine the most meanspirited, unlikeable, rude, bitter, self centered, negative person you can think of. not a rapist, not a murderer, not an abuser. just a charmless, tactless, dyed in the wool asshole you wouldn't want to spend two seconds with. now assume they get sick, not with the flu, but with a long term, serious illness that limits their ability to provide for themself. a society in which that person is left to die alone because nobody likes them on a personal level is a failed society.

Rereading Xaden's bonus chapters in Fourth Wing made me realized that he really needed Violet in his life OMG

The amount of temper he has vs the amount of times Violet's presence calms him during those times made you realize that he's truly walking the thin line between the edge of control and giving in to rage.

Whether you like it or not, he NEEDED a warmth of a person in Violet's form as his balance. Poor man needed a loving embrace from his painful past and how it shaped him as a person— and news flash: Violet is that and more! 🥹

It made me realized too that Violet loves men with temper and hard edges like GIRL, I love you, but what the hell? 😅 Smart people are indeed dangerous when they fall in love.

Violet really gave him peace in the ruthlessness he built around him—making him realize that he's not all the bad things he thinks of himself. Xaden, on the other hand, gave her the edge of confidence to roughen up her caring and altruistic heart for her to survive in this world beside him. Ugh.
