THEY CANCELING MY WOLFY BOI
if you don't do anything else today,
Please have a moment of silence for the people who were killed instead of freed when news of emancipation finally reached the furthest corners of the american south.
have another moment for the ledgers, catalogs, and records that were burned and the homes that were destroyed to hide the presence of very much alive and still enslaved people on dozens of plantations and homesteads across the south for decades after emancipation.
and have a third moment for those who were hunted and killed while fleeing the south to find safety across the border, overseas, in the north and to the west.
black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.
if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.
This is Juneteenth.
white people CAN interact with this post. share it, spread it.
the thing about media literacy is that understanding why the author chose to specify that the curtains are blue is the same skill set as understanding that the way the author characterizes all black characters as angry or all chinese characters as meek and silent is racist. it is the same skill set as being able to identify when a news source is biased or when someone is feeding you propaganda. the ability to ask "why did this person choose to present this premise in this specific way?" is a critical skill in a world full of misinformation. why are the curtains blue? maybe it's a characterization detail. maybe it's extraneous worldbuilding. why is this character written as being right all the time? maybe you're intended to disagree with them. maybe it doesn't matter. maybe you should still ask why.
the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
so I got into grad school today with my shitty 2.8 gpa and the moral of the story is reblog those good luck posts for the love of god

Hey so
the last time I reblogged this post right before I got a great job, in a permanent work-from-home position, with benefits, retirement, and a salary literally 3x what I was making before, doing something I really like.
So you know.
This might be the real one, y’all.
I could use some luck
Logged into twitter to look at something and I was instantly reminded why I deleted the app
This was kinda fun
I see a lot of LADs fans that want those sort of professional cosplay events you see happening in Asia to happen in western countries as well...but I wonder if both Infold and the fandom are ready to see the side of the fanbase they love to avoid and/or discriminate against?
And yes, I am talking about cis men and queer people/lgtbq+
You dont see any of us at the events in Asia because we would be heavily discriminated over there with little to no protection—but a lot of us over here in the West dont care about how other people see or view us, and its highly illegal to have exclusive public gatherings to begin with, at least here in the USA (lets hope that doesnt change anytime soon either 👀)
Is the fandom ready to see a Caleb cosplayer posing with a cis guy? Is the fandom ready to see a transmasc in a suit being ""flirted"" with by the LI cosplayers? And is Infold ready to deal with the backlash that'll come with cis men and queer people just trying to have fun and enjoy life they way they want to?
I dont think so :) which is why I believe that official cosplay events wont ever happen in the States or any western contry considered to be "progressive" enough, but I'd love to be proven wrong someday.
Support your local cosplayers! ❤️
EDIT: To add onto my point. I will provide an example:
We all remember the official wedding cosplay event that happened last year, around the time the summer update released with the wedding banner...
There was a female (I believe they identified as female anyway. Forgive me if I am wrong) cosplyer that showed up at the event dressed as Caleb. The cosplayer was extremely rude and disrespectful towards the official cosplayer, making him feel uncomfortable.
LADs fans took the official Caleb cosplayer being uncomfortable as a sign that he was discriminating against the person because they were wearing a suit...and yes, I believe it was only western fans spreading their queerphobic agenda across social media and not CN fans. Those fans were quite happy spreading that misinformation...
"The Caleb cosplayer reminding men that LADs is for [straight cis] women only," shit like that.
I won't provide a link because even just searching it up is triggering for me as a queer person, but I am sure that it is not hard to find at all on TikTok or Twitter if you're interested ♡
I think it’s kinda narrow thinking to assume that there are no queer people at these events in China. Just like in the West, queer people can change their appearance if need be, and not all queer people want to express themselves as flashy as some in the west do. I think that there are a lot of women in the fandom yes, but to assume that there are no men or queer people at these events in Asia teeters on thinking that is xenophobic, which I hope was not your intent.
And of course lgbtq+ themes won’t be outwardly displayed on events in China, because Infold has to follow the laws of the land or their game won’t be allowed on Chinese servers. Because that is the law. It doesn’t stop BL Chinese dramas from being made and it doesn’t stop the queer populations in China from existing, these are simply the laws that the media has to follow. In that sense it is not their fault nor is it Infold’s.
When the art is limited by laws on what they are able to do, it is up to the fans to pick the colors of the art that they want to see. There are tons of fans who create their own fan events and their own fanart with the LI’s interacting with male MCs, cis or trans.
And I implore any people who think the same way to please, please, please figure out what country these people who complain about stuff are from. The “West” is a large umbrella term that could mean the United States, Canada, Brazil, Nigeria, literally anywhere and yet you lump all of these countries together under this term. Some of these “Western” fans really could have been Thai or Malaysian or even Taiwanese and yet we would never know.
