Please help Rawan, Yemna, and their family! They are still far from their goal of kr319,315 SEK (~$30,000) to evacuate from Gaza; they have currently raised kr97,184 SEK / kr319,315. However, with your help we can change that - every dollar counts no matter how little!!! Together, we can all help the Abudaya family!!

help safaa and abed's family 🖤
follow @safaabed8 and @abedalazeiz verified by 90-ghost note: safaa + her family has had to make multiple accounts- they have all either been suppressed/terminated (this is also why the verification/reblogs from ibtisams/heba-20 no longer have working links)
dear moots/lovely lurkers,
i am not sure how to start this- what iteration of words will move a kind stranger to action or convince another that this passage is worth the five minutes it'll take to read it
would you be inclined to learn just how a body shuts down after being malnourished for so long? or what lengths families must go to in order to survive? perhaps a retelling of the rising temperatures-- how everything from the contaminated water they drink to the dirty pillows they lay on is hot will be enough
do you need me to lay it out so plainly that your stomachs churn and your eyes well up with tears? are you waiting to feel that pang inside your chest- the one that screams "enough is enough." do you look at safaa's beautiful family and think they deserve more?
would you still feel that way even if i told you nothing at all?
---
safaa's family has managed to raise just short of 50% of their goal (€24,809 / €50,000)- campaigns require a sustained, collective effort for them to be successful. more importantly, the onus is on the rest of us to uplift stories the world will do anything to suppress. please don't leave them unheard-- donate if you can, share so others may help as well

Luisa Capetillo
Today in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we take a look at Luisa Capetillo (1879-1922), one of the most famous activists to come out of Puerto Rico. Capetillo was a labor leader, a feminist, and a writer.
[Capetillo]
Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico and homeschooled, Capetillo found work as a reader. The American Tobacco Company had control over much of the island's tobacco fields and hired people to read novels to workers. Capetillo read in a tobacco factory, where she began to be involved with labor unions.
In 1904, Capetillo began to write Mi Opinión (My Opinion), essays that were published in radical and union newspapers. She encouraged women to fight for social equality. She touched on the unique experience of Latina women almost a decade before Crenshaw invented the term 'intersectionality'. She wrote in support of labor unions, anarcism, and against organized religion.
Capetillo helped organize and write for a farm workers' strike in 1905 and worked as a reporter for the American Federation of Labor. She traveled the island, educating women, and started her own newspaper (La mujer) which centered on women's issues. She was one of the first Puerto Rican suffragists and campaigned for women's suffrage in union politics. She organized workers and joined in strikes, and helped pass a minimum-wage law in Puerto Rico.
Capetillo went to jail twice for the crime of wearing pants as a woman.

I feel like being a terf who’s pro capitalist is worse than a terf who’s a commie cuz like if u think trans women are a bigger contributor to misogyny than capitalism then ur genuinely just hateful and stupid. Commie TERFs are hateful and stupid but it makes more sense
