It's so tiring to see that shit in the comments on anything tangentially related to sex & sexuality. And even on entirely related matters. If a stranger is excited about something or praising someone in a public forum there's gonna be responses calling them "glazers" and "gooners" etc etc. Shame, y'know?
It not only punishes community and emotional vulnerability, it explicitly categorizes sex acts (largely those of submission & being penetrated treated as "feminine" & "gay") as demeaning & lesser. If not outright castigating those acts, and anyone who engages or is suspected of engaging in them, as immoral. "Degens" and "pervs".
This language is especially used against those of marginalized genders & sexualities that are deemed subversive. Trans ppl, transwomen especially being treated maliciously. Poly and nonmonogamous ppl. Aromantics and acespec ppl who have sex. The stigma is perpetuated so much harsher and more often against people of color. So much bigotry centers around racializing sexuality, loudly and violently. And let's not forget disabled, neurodivergent, and fat people.
Genuinely, if you use this language... analyze who you're talking about most often. And what you're implying about them.
Because the normalization of anti-sex rhetoric and behavior cannot be divorced from so many other injustices. Especially when sex education and sexual health resources are constantly targeted at an institutional level.
If you treat sex as shameful or wrong or sinful or weird, if you talk and think like this, it is much easier to become complicit in the passing of heinous legislation. To ignore it or outright advocate for it. And it disproportionately affects poor people, people in resource deserts, people with otherwise little to no access to this essential shit.
Because if you're fucking loaded it doesn't matter if abortion is illegal. It doesn't matter if birth control is restricted and expensive. If you're rich as hell it doesn't matter if public schools teach abstinence sex-ed or no sex-ed whatsoever. It doesn't fucking matter if fertility care is attacked. If you're wealthy, the restrictions don't apply. If you aren't, they sure as fuck do.
When you participate in the social stigmatization of sex and sexuality, you are reinforcing rampant injustices that harm more than the one guy you're "dunking" on. It sounds dramatic, but social shaming is an incredibly powerful tool for maintaining conformity.
Signed, your local sex-negative aspec o7 (that's a guy saluting)
