@insectsinthestars hey! a serigraph is the fancy term for silkscreening and screen printing. for all of these processes, generally, the artist uses a stencil or photo-stencil of some kind to put ink through fabric onto paper. "serigraph" itself is used for more fine artworks, to distinguish them from more commercial stuff :)
damn! thank you so much for sharing this information with me! I swear that both lithographs and screen prints have 749363826 billion names for what is essentially the same process. 💔
oh well, i love learning about them all nevertheless!
real!!! learning the names might be harder than doing the actual art
re: have i done printmaking - besides potato stamps, nope. i draw and paint but i haven't turned it into prints yet. maybe one day! my mam who runs the shop did a screen printing course years ago. she's the bridge to all that incomprehensible printing knowledge 🧚
holy moly! that’s so cool! is there anything you like to paint in particular?
I will say, at least in my own opinion, that painting can be a bit less fiddly then printmaking at times.
uhhhh trying to paint my characters i normally do in ink in acrylics instead. also landscapes with out of place creatures. but painting is still hard. probably less hard than printing though yeah
in ink i do characters and portraits a loooot. maybe i'll paint portraits soon, idk. i like linework too much to paint very often
