You Have To Mean It

I'm nearly a week into the first list of phrases to inspire positive change, and though words are certainly important, they mean nothing if you don't mean it. Common sense, right?

The times that I've genuinely meant what I've said, people have been very receptive; there's a kindness in their eyes. But when I've said it because I feel like I'm trying to give this blog some content, it goes unnoticed. 

This list of about being human, and it's easy to do if you just care.

My First List: 3-Word Phrases to Inspire Positive Change in Your Team

I recently read a post on inc.com about how certain phrases have been effectively used by leaders to inspire positive change. What intrigued me about this post is that I feel as though it's far more applicable than the article gives it credit for.

My hypothesis is that the word "teams" can be used beyond office or business settings. What about friend groups, public events, or just trying to inch your way through a crowd? By treating people as important beings, a simple 3-word phrase can go a long way ... or can it?

Over the next 30 days, I am going to apply the following phrases to my life as much as fittingly possible:

I love you.

I thank you.

You are terrific.

I am sorry.

I trust you.

I promise you. [and keep it!]

God bless you.

I can help.

I understand you.

You are talented.

I believe you.

You will succeed.

You inspire me.

It's no problem.

I forgive you.

You're the best!

Apparently, these statements have the power to change someone's world. Not a bad way to spend 30 days, eh?

All about the 30 Day List

Part of my morning routine is opening up my twitter app and scrolling through the news for the day. Without fail, my feed is filled with "how to" or "do this" lists to improve productivity, confidence, and overall health. 

And though I am aware this is due to the content I choose to consume, I can't help but wonder how much my life would really change if I were to abide by the guidelines in any given list for 30 days at a time. So, I'm going to find out. 

Every 30 days, I'll choose a new list and follow it religiously. I'll chronicle my experience and prove it to be true or false within the confines of my personal lifestyle.
