for my fellow solitaireheads
Every one in Palestine are griefing, suffering, starving, and any conditions that are perhaps used to be inimiginable are beyond our eyes. I wake up, and a few times crying when an image of innocent civilians shouting for their family, shouting for help under the rubbles, some are saved and some don't💔😭 Ya rabb, pls strengthen them there, and any places that are not getting enough attention💔 do what we can... Boycott, share articles/post, and others related to Palestine, read about history, donate, protest, and many more things. If u only do one thing that is a valid stepping stone still, and it is (inshaallah) a good way to begin into more steps✊🏻🇵🇸🕊️
A piece I made for @netamashii once upon a time
This is Rafah, The "safe" zone, where 1.5 million Palestinian fled to. You have to understand, what bombing Rafah means.
Please don't look away, while everybody is busy watching the super bowl, Israel commits one of its most deadly and openly genocidal attacks on Rafah. Please don't look away.
let's roll!
Reminds me of this lol
LESBIANS OF TUMBLR HEAR MY PLEA (question)
I need some help understanding something. Context: I am a an femme enby queer person. I present as gender conforming. I have always lived in major metropolitan queer hubs in the US.
My friend, an enby lesbian, got upset with me because they don't like that I used the term "women and femmes". I used it when I was talking about people I generally date in a casual conversation. Their reasoning was because when people use the term it excludes people like them. I do get that - my friend is not a woman and they are not femmine of center. The language was accurate in my case I haven't dated too many people like them. But then they said me using the term makes them think i dont feel people like them, masculine of center people/masculine presenting queer women or lesbians deserve protection and should be excluded from queer spaces. Which I was caught very off guard. They went on to explain when people use that phrase it excludes people like them from queer spaces that they want to go to/should be welcome at. That others like them would go to those events it they felt more welcome.
My thing is that events catering specifically to only some members of the community sometimes does not have be oppressive. If the phrase is a dog whistle that you don't believe certain people are women or lesbians or deserve protection from violence, fine. I told them I wont use it. But the concept of only having all inclusive spaces does not sit right with me. I know it sucks to feel left out. I have been learning about butchphobia and of course it is wrong. But if someone holds an exclusive space for a marginalized group of people, like femme lesbians or enby femmes, it should not be problematic if the focus isn't hurting/hating other groups or hoarding power. Or if most events in an area are exclusionary, which would be targeted discrimination.
A dance party or clothing swap or kink event or whatever aimed at leabians only would exclude me. I dont think it automatically means the event or organizers are biphobic or panphobic or w/e. It just is not for me. It isn't wrong to want to be around people like you at times. To be able to discuss shared experiences or even create shared experiences without people alligned with your identity. Not every space is for everyone and that is okay.
Maybe I didn't vocalize this well but my friend seemed to be upset I thought this way. Would love to hear your perspectives.
By binge rewatch of downton literally has me so mad because honestly fuck Edith and everything she has ever done. 100% the villan. Shes a horrible person Mr. Fellows tries very hard justify it to make us believe that Mary is a bully to her but EVERY TIME Mary just finishes a fight Edith started. And she never learns to stop poking the bear. You aren't a bullying victim if you hit first just because you lose.
(Spoilers below)
Like girl, let's not forget:
Exposed the whole Turkish diplomat dying thing because she was jealous Mary was getting more attention than her
Made out with a married man during the war
Was racist af when Jack Ross came to the house (basically was like "ewwww a negrooooo at downton" and even the doweger was like "chill tf out")
Used a poor family house her illegitimate kid and then yanked the toddler from a family that loved her and she probably bonded with, with absolutely no reguard to anything but her own feelings
Only got exposed by Mary after she sat there goading being like "your man abandoned you, you don't know her she's an evil cow who can't stand me being happy, im doing better than you ahahahaha". (Not saying it was right to expose Marigold to potential scandal but really lady if Mary is as evil as you think she is why be so damn nasty)
Generally moves around being judgey and mopey and unpleasant
Honestly am I the only one who notices this?
agree Edith is awful

The work these guys are doing is amazing. They're still tracking wastewater data too so you can still figure out transmission levels in your area and not just the hospitalization levels. Check them out!
New guy at work: “Oh, you were in the Army?”
Me: “Yeah.”
New guy: “Thank you for your service!”
Me: “It was bullshit. It’s all bullshit. You ever heard of Smedley Butler?”
“I spent thirty-three years and four months in active military service as a member of this country’s most agile military force, the Marine Corps. I served in all commissioned ranks from Second Lieutenant to Major-General. And during that period, I spent most of my time being a high class muscle-man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for the Bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. … I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 1902-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras right for the American fruit companies in 1903. In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested. Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents.”

note the reason you don't admit to buying in cash is because the salesperson makes commission off the amount of money you'd be expected to pay over the life of the loan, including the gargantuan interest amount, so they're incentivized to give you a much better price on the car knowing that the interest will more than make up the difference and help clinch the sale. if you say "I'm buying cash", no discount.
keep in mind that some purchase contracts are canny to this tactic and will make the discount only apply if you're financing, and the financing will renege on the discount if you pay off your loan within six months or some other fixed timeframe. read contracts carefully. you can still make out like a bandit if you time it carefully and never tell the salesperson what you're planning on doing
Fanfic writers really said "in any universe, in any scenario, despite any obstacle, these people would love each other" and I think that's very cool of us

On one hand I understand not teaching cursive in school anymore, because it actually is slower than regular handwriting and almost everything is typed on a keyboard now anyways.
On the other hand, so much of our (even recent!) history was written in cursive, and having a whole generation of kids who can't read letters written by their grandparents, momentos saved by their great-grandparents, or even photo albums from theur immediate family seems like a dangerously quick way to detach us from previous generations.
And on the third, related but slightly malformed hand, I feel bad that yet another form of small, everyday art that brings joy in the middle of mundane tasks, which celebrates personality and individual style and self-expression, is about to fade into obscurity because it wasn't efficient enough for today's world to put up with.
Like... if we continue to whittle away the small arts out of every day life, what's going to be left except stark, ruthless pragmatism?
Maybe writing a grocery list is less mundane when you get to feel elegant for a moment. Maybe you're a little more proud of what you write when you see it flow together like a painting
1. Children still can learn cursive...no one is stopping them. Teach your kids cursive. Offer trainings. Make youtube videos. Be the change.
2. I would also consider how it is even more of a struggle for people with learning disabilities to have go learn a whole other writing system that is high key harder to read.
3. Writing grocery lists in cursive? How do you do that on a phone?
4. Honestly there is nothing that kills a desire to learn quite like being forced to learn something completely unrelated to your life because some some old people think it's pretty. (I was forced to learn cursive. I am the old)
