Man of Steel (Superman)

A new render of my old time favorite Superman character I created over a year ago.

I could not find a body in my library that would work for me, so I dialed my own.

I used the products below to help me get as photo-real as I could.

Phenotype 011 Horde

I recently converted to DIM most of my SA models and installed them. This is my attempt, so far, to use one of them with Iray.

I added skin/mouth/gum gloss and veins. I used a combination of the bump and normal maps for that. For detail such as veins I used the bump maps and for smaller skin details a normal map created from the diffuse texture. Check out the veins in areas like the thighs.

Teen Kara Zor-El (Supergirl)

My version of 16-year-old Kara Zor-El, a.k.a. Supergirl.

I kit-bashed this character together from many sources, including using parts of the Genesis 3 Superhero Bundle. This was my third try at a teen Supergirl character, third time’s a charm. This is part of a series of teen Superheroes I started but have not finished. Only teen Supergirl (using Genesis 3 Female) and teen Spiderman (using Genesis 2 Male) are finished.

Lack of Realism in Nude PBR Renders

Physically Based Rendering (PBR) is the latest rage in the Poser & DAZ Studio universe ever since the Reality for DAZ Studio plug-in was introduce by Pret-a-3D. I, myself, enjoy the challenge of getting a render as close to reality as possible.

Naturally, attempting PBR renders using the naked human body is very popular. One of the problems that I see with many who attempt those types of renders is that they seem to pose their figures (whether leaning against a wall or sitting) without taking into account what those actions do to the human body. In real life the parts of the body that are pressed against an object tend to deform, or squish, due to the pressure exerted by the body’s weight.

There is an easier way and that is to use a product designed to solve such issues. Like i13 SQUISH Soft Body Effect Morphs for the Genesis 3 Female(s). You can find these products for Victoria 4 all the way to Victoria 7 (the Genesis 3 base figure, the latest as of this post).
