Attempting to translate the booklets of the vocaloid Blu-ray/DVDs I own. I'm only N3 in Japanese so I hope I can at least convey the main ideas even if not [phrased] 100% correctly ^^;;
Scanning the books bundled with the discs is hard and I don't want to damage them so I'll try to avoid pictures, but if need be I'll look on the internet for them (or take lower quality pics with my phone...)
I'm uploading the contents of the discs (so concert footage, making of, songs without official uploads) over here on YouTube with English subs as much as I can (except for the songs,,soz)

Featuring illustration and visuals of Miku and co. that popular creators drew for "Magical Mirai". Also delivering congratulatory comments from famous artists ♪
KEI INTERVIEW
--How was drawing the illustrations for "Magical Mirai"?
KEI: At first I was planning to draw only Miku, but in order for it to be used at the arranged panel of the venue as well, I was given the opportunity to draw the rest of the characters too. I think it was my first time drawing KAITO and MEIKO properly for an official setting. That's rare, isn't it?
--How does it feel looking back on the 6 years since Hatsune Miku's introduction?
KEI: With 6 whole years having passed, middle school students have become uninversity students, huh? While I am happy she is influencing young creators, at the same time I feel the flow of time. By all means, I want her to keep going strong just like this until her 39th anniversary.
--What were some things you had trouble with or were particular about when deciding on Hatsune Miku's design?
KEI: I don't really recall having a hard time. First, the overall silhouette came together smoothly, and then the detailed parts, such as the arm covers and necktie, went through trial and error. In the very early stages, there was a verison without twintails, but once the person in charge had chosen, we decided right away on the twintails.
--Among what you have drawn up until now, is there any work that has made a lasting impression?
KEI: I find the "Snow Miku" 2012 illustrations memorable. I drew her with the impression of snapshots of "Snow Miku" during a sightseeing trip to Sapporo, which was a perfect fit, and well received by those around me. The Clock Tower and Streetcar were something familiar, so I was able to enjoy drawing them. What I personally liked, is the "mikucolor" preview published in the "Comptiq" magazine, I'd say. Since I hadn't really ever drawn Miku's back.
--What kind of existence is Hatsune Miku to you?
KEI: I often get asked "Isn't she your wife?", but she's more of a daughter. I want to keep watching over my daughter's growth.
--Is there anything you would like Hatsune Miku to attempt going forward?
KEI: I would like to see a high quality short anime. A song PV would be fine too, but, more than a story, I want to see a concept film. And then, like, a wrapped airplane or something? (lol)
--Lastly, pleae leave a message in celebration of "Magical Mirai" being held.
KEI: Congratulations on holding "Magical Mirai". Everyone, please be careful of heatstroke, and have fun. Perhaps I will be in the venue too (lol).

CHRIS INTERVIEW
--What is the idea behind the illustration you drew this time?
CHRIS: I tried my best to express the dazzling image of a magician and the fun atmoshepre, coming for the title "Magical Mirai". The impression of a treasure box at a circus, making you curious as to what could come out of it, is also included.
--Are there any works that have left a strong impression so far?
CHRIS: I'd say it's "Futari no Niji (Our Rainbow)", my first collaborative work with arata-san, who I met thanks to Miku, in winter of 2009. It was a PV using just one rough illustration, but a lot comment artists and listeners filled in the part I was missing on top of the illustration! The big rainbow the comment artists created was very lovely (Note: to view the comments on NND, scroll down to the footer on the home page and switch the language to Japanese). It was a great experience in many ways, and it stays with me as a good memory.
--What did you think of the "Magical Mirai" theme?
CHRIS: Seriousness, culture, future. Especially looking at the selection of the word "serious (magi)", I thought it was cool. Perhaps you could say that the ones who created this fun culture of VOCALOID up until now are none other than everyone who is "serious (magi)" about VOCALOID.......I really like how warm it felt being able to reconfirm that fact.
--What kind of existence is Hatsune Miku to you?
CHRIS: She's an existence like a "+". I believe her to be the "trigger" continuously connecting me and other people, and I'm always grateful.
--In what way do you with the VOCALO culture will flourish from now on?
CHRIS: Creators who will produce various genres of music, illustrations and videos, and even listeners who write 1-line comments. I want it to become a "fun culture", where communicating with many people who freely express their own worlds, becomes an opportunity to empathize with them, and those involved in that connection can keep moving forward. As someone who wants to create such a culture, myself, I think we should take it slow and not in a hurry.
--Please leave a message for Miku-san welcoming her 6th anniversary.
CHRIS: Miku-san, congratulations on your 6th anniversary. And "seriously" thank you a lot. I look forward to working with you in the future!
Congratulations on holding Magical Mirai! I am very pleased to have been given the opportunity to participate through an illustration. The Crypton family that spreads to the world surpassing national borders, I drew the 6 of them as a band that sings and plays instruments, having fun creating sound. Let's enjoy this day to our heart's content!
U35
For this illustration, I did some corrections as a pastime on something I had drawn for a different matter, so I am happy to be able to present it again in this way. How far will our archangel Miku-san fly......! (Ah, but I'm devoted to Rin-chan!!)
Osamu
Congratulations on holding Magical Mirai! I drew this illustration putting all of that "May each VOCALOID's personality, resound vividly through sound and culture!" feeling into it. May the venue be full of the colors of all the VOCALOIDs, especially Miku-chan!
Yumenouchi
Congratulations on holding Magical Mirai. As a VOCALOID fan, Hatsune-san and the others quickly expanding their field of activity are so dazzling! The theme of this illustration is "A reliable big sister"! I want to entrust various things to her.
Torigoe Takumi
Congratulations on Hatsune Miku's 6th anniversary and holding Magical Mirai!! It's alreay been 6 years since I fell under Miku-san's spell. All of them showing signs of growth year by year, are certainly magical. I'd be happy if I could add even a little bit of color to this new magical day. For this illustration, I went for something chic, with fluffy frills as an accent. A magic song with a magical wand-like carbon mic♪
Chisuke
Thank you for including me in the Magical Mirai pamphlet. This time I tried making something colorful with rainbow as the concept. I hope you enjoy this big event.
CHAN×CO
Congratulations on holding Magical Mirai. It's nice being able to see the various things about Miku-san that are being developed in all srots of areas, all at once! I drew an SF-style Miku-san packaged in blister pack, by using the picture on the jacket of "MikXperience e.p.", which is also being sold in the venue, as the base for the illustration, and adding a magical "Mirai" theme.

UTSUMI HIROSHI interview
SEGA CORPORATION
SEGA feat. HATSUNE MIKU Project
General Producer
PROFILE
The general producer of the Hatsune Miku game series "SEGA feat. HATSUNE MIKU Project". He was quick to notice Hatsune Miku's existence, and, starting with the game "Hatsune MIku -Project DIVA-" announced in July 2009, he is involved in the development of the Hatsune Miku game series. This time in "Magical Mirai 2013", playable demos for 3 types of new games are planned to be exhibited.
In charge of the concert that will be held in Magi Area is SEGA, who had handled "Miku no Hi Kanshasai". We asked Mr. Utsumi Hiroshi, the general producer of SEGA feat. HATSUNE MIKU Project, about the secrets of this performance and the new works planned to be announced.
We have been aiming for a live unlike any other, but I'm nervous to see what happens.
--Please tell us the selling points of the concert.
Utsumi: Since it's a stage with a record-high capacity of 10,000 people, I wasn't very enthusiastic about it at first (lol), but once it was decided, I made a conscious effort to manage it in a way that would satisfy everyone who attends. Ever since "Saigo no Miku no Hi Dai Kanshasai" on September 9th 2012, it's the first large-scale event in about 1 year and 6 months, but we have been preparing for a live unlike any other, so I am nervous to see if they will actually accept it. It woulld be great if it could serve as a guide for future big Hatsune Miku concerts.
--Can we expect new ventures?
Utsumi: We might have finally been able to do things we always said we wanted to, but never could. We thought of a method to approach how we could have their brains fill in the gaps to make Hatsune MIku and the others feel present, even for the audience who are far away from the stage and have a hard time seeing. The degree of satisfaction regarding that part should rise, so I hope you're looking forward to it.
--The setlist will be a surprise on the day of, right?
Utsumi: I wouldn't say it's a secret in particular, but we have actively incorporated songs announced within the past 1-2 years or so. A lot of songs will be performed that have yet to be featured in any official live until now, so I hope you will be surprised. Because we're prioritizing the U-18 audience in the concert of the noon performance, there are also aspects with young people in mind.
--There will be titles related to "SEGA feat. HATSUNE MIKU Project" exhibited in the Mirai Area, but what points should we focus on?
Utsumi: In "Hatsune Miku -Project DIVA- F 2nd", songs that were used in past games have been re-recorded by powering up the visual presentation and performance. As a result of being fixated on making the new parts enjoyable, we ended up creating such a big amount that it's almost exceeding the capacity. For "Hatsune Miku Porject Mirai 2", we seriously remade the system, such as introducing a new clothes changing system where, just like with "Nendoroids", you can put on only the body part of other costumes. It would not be an exaggeration to say we rebuilt it from scratch. With "Hatsune Miku Project DIVA Arcade Future Tone", we are thoroughly pursuing what should be done to make Hatsune Miku and the others look the cutest and most stylish, through expressions, hairstyles, clothing and such. You can play the demo of any of the titles, so I'd certainly like for you to try your hand at them.
--What kind of existence is Hatsune Miku to you?
Utsumi: I see her as a strange platform where the quirks, existence, and talents of various people can be expressed through good synergy. In a place of exchange, there are all sorts of discoveries, like "So this is how this person uses Miku" or "Hatsune Miku looks good even like this". Her presence is overwhelming, she is an existence that can be used in any way as a model, no matter how you use her, she looks like Hatsune Miku, and no matter what you maker sing, she sounds like Hatsune Miku. She feels like a mysterious phenomenon, created by talents brought together by one coincidence after another.
--What are you envisioning for the future?
Utsumi: I want to keep expanding our user base so that a wider group of people can play, from children to adults, and from hardcore to casual players. After that, increasing the number of platforms we offer would also be one of our goals. We are thinking of what we can do across all platforms, while preserving the fundamentals of game consoles, without limiting ourselves to any framework. I want to keep finding many new ways of approach, in order for a large number of users to play.
--Please leave a message for those attending.
Utsumi: Thank you for showing up despite the heat and being busy. I think we have prepared fun content that is worth the effort, so I would be delighted if you enjoyed it.
SEKIMOTO RYOJI interview
Crypton Future Media, Inc.
PROFILE
As part of Crypton's CGM (Consumer Generated Media) team, he is in charge of music as a whole, such as CD or concert productions. He even took on the role of support in the "Symphony Ihatov" in 2012, the historic collaboration between Mr. Tomita Isao and Hatsune Miku that became a topic for discussion.
The showy stage Hatsune MIku sings on. That success is built upon the effort of many people running around behind the stage. We asked Mr. Sekimoto Ryoji of Crypton, about supporting "Magical Mirai 2013" by working behind-the-scenes.
I'm hoping Hatsune Miku can become "a bridge that connects people".
--What part were you responsible for in "Magical Mirai 2013"?
Sekimoto: This time we co-organized with TOKYO MX, so, as the point of contact for our company, I was resposinble for the management of the entire event and the Magi Area. It was the first event with such a large scale, and I was somewhat uneasy, but those around were all professionals, so without any huge problems, we managed to make today's event happen.
--What are the highlights of "Magical Mirai 2013" and things to note about the concert in Magi Area?
Sekimoto: You'll understand if you take a tour around each area, but it is an event where you can experience Hatsune Miku's past, present, and future. I think it can be summed up just with that. About the concert, first comes the stage production, right? It's obvious that the stage structure itself is unlike anything before, so I want you to pay attention to the actions and costumes of the performerms, especially Hatsune Miku. Regarding the setlist, songs reflecting the past and future have been gathered, and so, since there are many songs not performed in any concert before, I think you will simply enjoy it. Furthermore, the front act has been directed by some wonderful people, so I hope you will enjoy that too.
--On August 31st, the concert will be screened in movie theaters all around the country, including overseas, correct?
Sekimoto: Regardless of domestically or abroad, there were a number of people who could come all the way to the venue for this event. We want those people to enjoy it, and since those who attend the venue will be able to watch it more calmly to an extent, I want to hear theirhonest opinions about the concert, and use them for next time. Therefore, I'd be glad if they also went to the theater!
--What kind of future do you think awaits the culture of Hatsune Miku from now on?
Sekimoto: I hope Hatsune Miku becomes a "bridge that connects people". As long as you are alive, a lot of times you're bound to feel negative emotions, right? In those times, it would be wonderful if fellow users who are involved with Hatsune Miku in various ways, cheer each other up, support, become a source of strength for oneself, and can make tomorrow even just a little more enjoyable, wouldn't it? Moreover, I think the act of creating things has become more accessible than before. I believe our role to be creating an environment where creators can create even more easily, and establishing a project that stirs up the daily motivation to create. We have no intention to change that so far, and in the future.
--What kind of existence is "Hatsune Miku" to you, Sekimoto-san?
Sekimoto: Hmm. That's a hard question, huh (lol)? It's just that, after being put in charge of the concert, and having seen her move right before my eyes, a feeling I had never experienced until now has sprouted in me. I have yet to find the answer as to what this feeling is exactly, it is certain she has surpassed the limits of being a mere software. Working with Hatsune Miku, it's important to have a broad perspective, or at least that's what I think, so let's not seek answers too much. Next question please!
--Thank you very much. Well then, please tell us about your plans for the future.
Sekimoto: Thankfully, the offers coming from various parts of the world are increasing day by day. I want to deliver that excitement, even just one day sooner, to the people who are waiting for it. Additionally, an English version of Hatsune Miku will be released at last, so I am also looking forward to meeting new creators.
--Lastly, please leave a message to all who attended.
Sekimoto: Thank you for visiting Japan! Thanks to the movement you all keep going every day, we were able to make Magical Mirai a reality. We are truly grateful. I'd be pleased if you all enjoyed what we have all put together to your heart's content.
SAIKAWA MITSUYUKI interview
Tokyo Metropolitan Television Broadcasting Corporation
Business Division
PROFILE
Enagaged in the prodcution of Hatsune MIku-related programs at the TV station TOKYO MX. Aside from the first Hatsune Miku concert to be broadcast live on TV, "Hatsune Miku Taiwan First Concert "MikuPa♪"", he has worked on a documentary that captures Hatsune Miku's current state, "Hatsune Miku no Katachi", drawing a lot of attention. He has been involved in numerous projects of Hatsune Miku lives so far, and is also known as an unsung hero.
Mr. Saikawa Mitsuyuki has kept delivering surprise and excitement to Hatsune Miku fans through the medium known as TV, with live broadcast and documentary programs. Also being the originator of "Magical Mirai 2013", he told us about his thoughts on this event.
Hatsune Miku's "current" state is "Magical Mirai 2013"
--What kinda of role were you responsible for in "Magical Mirai 2013"?
Saikawa: I am the person responsible for making the unreasonable request of "Let's do it!" to Crypton about this event. But I don't have some impressive role like bringin it all together or anything, I'm simply the instigator. In reality, those who suffered were those around me that worked hard without sleeping. My role was to be the one they pinned they blamed on, saying "it's that guy's fault" (lol).
--If you had to describe "Magical Mirai 2013" in one word?
Saikawa: I think it is the outcome of Hatsune Miku's "current" state. With Hatsune Miku so far, music events have been the easiest to put on, but even before, except for music, there has been a variety of Hatsune Miku, such as illustrations or videos by artists, and three-dimensional objects like figures, and each of those has its fans. Once, during the Hong Kong MikuPa, Itoh-san of Crypton had said something like "Hatsune Miku is a virtual singer, a movement that becomes a product, she is a variety of things, huh? So, there must be all sorts of fans, around the world, right? It'd be nice if we had the chance to gather all those various things, wouldn't it?", so I'm wondering if today might be the realization of that (lol). That's why, rather than me being the one who paved the way to "Magical Mirai 2013", I think it's probably an event that was born from the natural flow of things, because everyone had been wishing for it.
--What about it differs from a conventional event?
Saikawa: This time we set up a U-18 priority framework for the first time. In the concerts up to now, there weren't many middle school and high school students, but a certain percentage did come. Previously in MikuPa we did have a 1,000 yen off ticket for students, but this time with that goal in mind, we thought it would be better to organize a daytime concert so it would be easier for students to come. We narrowed down the number of people to just 3,900, lowered the price, and it might be a bit short, but after it ends it's better to go home while it's still bright outside (lol). "Magical Mirai 2013" is adapted to the circumstances of all kinds of fans.
--What are you anticipating for this event?
Saikawa: It's something I saw on Twitter but, there seem to be people bringing others along saying "I want to show it to my little sister", so I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of people will come to the noon performance. Fans will enjoy the concert, they will enjoy the Cal Area, they will enjoy the Mirai Area. And then, if by looking at other people who attended like "Ahh, fans like this exist", they can enjoy interacting with other fans, I'd be pleased.
--What kind of existence is Hatsune Miku to you?
Saikawa: Even now, I have no answer. I'm just thinking, isn't it fun because I don't know? When making the documentary there were various opinions, but because I was not familiar with her at the time, I learnt a lot by listening to the views of all kinds of people. There are people who see her as an existence that conveys the feelings of creators as is, and ther are people who only see her as a cute girl. At the end of "Hatsune Miku no Katachi", when we asked Itoh-san "Do you like Hatsune Miku?", I totally get how he feels when he said "I do like her. Although she is a difficult girl." (lol). Hatsune Miku may not have a physcial form, but she does have a presence. Unlike real artists, you cannot hold a conversation with her, but she really does feel present, you know?
--Please leave a message for all those who attended.
Saikawa: I am nothing but grateful for your coming. Thank you. The event would not have come to be without people gathering. It's thanks to everyone coming here like this today, that we were able to successfully present what we have created so far. I hope today's accomplishments can connect to next time. Although, whether we will keep going or not depends on all the fans, yeah? I believe that is the form [katachi] of Hatsune Miku, "Magical Mirai".
ITOH HIROYUKI interview
Crypton Future Media, Inc.
Representative Director
PROFILE
On July of 1995, he founded Cypton Future Media, Inc. in the city of Sapporo. He developed a business around sounds, such as ringtones and sound effects. The "Hatsune Miku" software, released in 2007 utilizing YAMAHA's vocal synthesizing techonology VOCALOID 2, stimulated the creativity of many creators, and has become the trigger that brought forth the current creative movement. On November of 2013, he was bestowed a Medal with Blue Ribbon, granted to those who have contributed to public welfare.
Hatsune Miku has left a strong impression in many people's memories, and has written a new page in her 6-year history. What has her creator seen and felt through her? Mr. Itoh Hiroyuki, the Representative Directrof of Crypton Future Media, told us his feelings after the "Magical Mirai 2013" event.
Hatsune Miku is an interface connecting creators and listeners. It's precisely because there was respect for creations, that the past 6 years have been possible.
--Please tell us your thoughts looking back on "Magical Mirai 2013".
Itoh: Now, being surrounded by the cold of winter like this, the heat of that summer, and the ethusiasm of the poeple that had gathered, are starting to feel nostalgic. When I think again about what that heated atmoshpere was, it is the enthusiasm all the fans that gathered have for Hatsune Miku, it is the enthusiasm for the creators who are creating Miku. Various kinds of excitement got mixed up, but they were all in that place. What we wanted to convey using that place is "Creating thins is fun, isn't it?". However, when thinking about whether the message we wanted to communicate was properly conveyed, I feel that there were areas where we are still inexperienced, and many things we could have done. Since there is a large repertory of things I want to do, I feel like I found unresolved problems [homework], such as how I could process the things I wasn't able to complete. I'm thinking I want to put on some kind of event again next year, but now I am in a state of being troubled by the amount of homework (lol).
--This event was labeled as being able to enjoy "all of Hatsune Miku", but thinking back on it, how do you feel?
Itoh: The internet has become the core of Hatsune Miku, or rather VOCALOID culture, but internet trends pass by extremely quickly, right? Even when it comes to trends in the real world, the English edition software "Hatsune Miku ENGLISH" was announced, the performance of "THE END" starring Hastune Miku was carried out in Paris, in the span of just 3 months there's been various happenings that make me feel almost nostalgic for "Magical Mirai". If there was someone named Hatsune Miku, I think she must have lived a very hectic life over these past 6 years.
--This time, it turned out to be a great event that can be described as the culmination of those 6 years, right?
Itoh: Frankly, I am wondering if this event was too big. Though, just because the scale has gotten bigger, I don't think Hatsune Miku has become distant, and I hope she doesn't lose that feeling of closeness and familiarity. What we presented in this event was Hatsune Miku how we see her, but that does not meant that is all of Hatsune Miku. Everyone has their own interpretation, and there are as many forms of Hatsune Miku as there are interpretations, so I hope you can value it in the future.
--I see.
Itoh: I, personally, would like to have Hatsune Miku remain as a blank paper as much as possible. Hatsune Miku is, so to speak, like a canvas for painting pictures. Only, it would be hard to create some work with a completely blank sheet, so at the very least we suggest settings, like age, voice and outward appearance. That is, kinda like adding the squares of a graph paper on a blank paper, I want it to be a situation where, what will be drawn on there and what colors will be used, is entrusted to the creators.
--Is there anything you want people who will watch the "Magi" live again in this package to feel?
Itoh: Behind every work you see, be it the music, the costumes, or the dances, there are "people who make things", but that is no longer a place just for those of the privileged class who have received elite education. That means it's possible for the song you made to be played at next year's Magical Mirai. The scene of Hatsune Miku is an open culture, and everyone has potential. There are also many free software, so it's a period where, as long as you have patience, anyone can create works and publish them. Therefore, if by watching the video of "Magical Mirai 2013" you become interested, I do want you to challenge yourself into creating some work.
--Through Hatsune Miku, the doors from amateur to pro have opened up, haven't they?
Itoh: There are a lot of active young people and overseas creators, right? I think being able to go past national borders and age, is one of the good things about content centered around the internet. Among music fans, I think the asuumption that works by amateurs are bound to be of poor quality still remains, but I believe in a few more years that situation will begin to change.
--Were you already anticipating the current popularity centered around video sites like NicoNico Duga at the time of Hatsune Miku's announcement?
Itoh: It's not like we predicted it or set anything up. As a platform for publishing content, it's as if the needs of creators and listeners perfectly aligned, so to say....... Ever since the relatively early days of NicoNico Douga, MEIKO videos would pop up every now and then. However in those days, completely original works were scarce. It was a chaotic world with a lot of copyright-infringing videos, like MADs. Then, after Hatsune Miku appearing in 2007, and videos being realeased one by one, the genre called VOCALOID grew as original content worth seeing. It was a good timing for both of them, don't you think?
--Hatsune Miku, even as a software, is continuing to evolve since her announcement in 2007, but what are your plans for the future?
Itoh: Like I said a moment ago, Hatsune Miku is like a blank canvas. We have to work hard in order to make that canvas evolve. We want to keep creating and providing solutions that expand the world of creation, and to keep evolving a certain platform, that is Hatsune Miku, in the future. More specifically, making her voice easier to sing, and making it easier to add accompaniment. In order for creations to go well, going forward, we want to keep developing on the direction to increase the things Hatsune Miku herself can do.
--Lastly, please leave a message for Hatsune Miku's fans.
Itoh: Using the fun place for creations knwon as the internet, the people who want to share their own thoughts, rapidly publish works, and the listeners enjoy them daily. In an environment like that, Hatsune Miku is becoming an interface connecting people who work hard on creating things with listeners. The reason Hatsune Miku rose in popularity this much might be due to her adorable appearance, but I think it is becausee all sorts of people are touched by this situation where a great number of creators are trying their best to express themselves using Hatsune Miku. Hatsune Miku cannot do anything without a creator in the first place, she is an existence dependant on others. For that reason, I want those who hold Hatsune Miku dear not to forget to also respect the creators. I believe it is thanks to the atmoshpere where people don't forget to pay respect to the fact these works were born, that these past 6 years have been possible. The feeling of holding Hatsune Miku dear, the respect you have for Hatsune Miku, that is to say the respect for the creators, please pay attention to being respectful even a little bit. On top of that, I'd be pleased if you enjoyed the works and joined events.
Oof this is a long one...Tried my best,,Omitted adding pics for the lives so as to not make the post even longer + if I couldn't find the ones I wanted online, I'd have to take pics from the booklet which is not as easy as I'd like,,,the concerts are available online tho
MAGICAL MIRAI 2013 INTRODUCTION
The internet is becoming an extremely human-like medium that can convey human emotions. Human emotions and social skills, such as being considerate of others, and respecting them, are being connected around the world via the internet at the speed of light, reaching people in other countries, and creating a situation where people connect with people, and works connect with works. Looking at just the physical state of things, that is something dull, where we simply transmit and send each other mechanical bit data, but what is happening within that is human activity itself, wanting to "move people", "try your best and take on a challenge".
Within that medium, Hatsune Miku functions as an icon, a symbolic existence representing the emotions every human carries, the essence of that which is human, such as the desire to "create something", "express oneself", or comments to the artists, like "I was deeply moved", "I want to show my appreciation".
Among the users, there is a common understanding of "Hatsune Miku", and all sorts of people work hard together to create something. Those creations, such as "drawings of Hatsune Miku", "sung by Hatsune Miku's voice", are being shared as a common icon, giving rise to people that come to love the works, and people who want to try creating their own works. This is precisely what makes Hatsune Miku symbolic, and it is the value we want to cherish.
Hatsune Miku "Magical Mirai 2013" is not an event the company merely holds one-sidedly, but it started from wanting to give the opportunity so that users can participate in the event, by making it interactive, and take home something that would let them join the creative movement.
At the venue there is not just the concert, but a large number of music and illustration workshops have been prepared, that everyone who came to this place can take part in. I hope you are able to see the seriousness (maji/magi) of "Magical Mirai 2013", as a new way of holding events that broadens the base of creators, with the potential to connect to the future.

place: Yokohama Arena
front act: UK Rampage/ M.S.S Project/ Haigou Meiko
On August 31st 2013, Miku takes a new step forward. To mark the start of this new chapter, the "Hatsune Miku Magical Mirai 2013" live, holds the largest scale performance to date. Taking on the "Serious (Maji/Magi)" stage with a new outfit. A vision of the "future (mirai) no one has seen before, born fomr the "culture (cul/cal)" of Miku cultivated within those 6 years, awaits!
BAND MEMBER comment
Supporting the largest-scale concert to date, are the impressive band members now participating for the first time! For the first-class stage musicians, what kind of existence is Hatsune Miku perceived as? We tried asking them about their enthusiasm for the performance, and their thoughts on Hatsune Miku.
EGUCHI RYO
Programing & Live arranged
Since 2000, as a member of Stereo Fabrication of Youth, he had been active in a band that records at home. In around 2006, he officially started an arrangement/sound producing business. Since 2012, he is currently in a band, as a member of la la larks.
I believe Hatsune Miku is the assembly of many people's feelings. No matter how hard the arrangement turns out, if it's her, I anticipate that she will push me foward with great strength through her songs. I'm very much looking forward to the songs born from DTM, echoing through the venue.
TAKAMA YUICHI
Bass
Ever since disbanding, he has been participating as a session musician/arranger, in recording and lives. This is his first participation since the Miku live in 2009 at STUDIO COAST, "Miku FES'09 (Natsu)". [Featured Artist] for Abe Mao, Ikimonogakari, Porno Graffitti, Takahashi Yuu, Kondo Akihisa, LiSA, supercell etc.
Her singing is flawless! Miku is always stable. Her rhythm and pitch don't falter, in other words, she performs very easily. I wonder what kind of evolution Hatsune Miku has undergone seeing her for the first time in several years......I'm looking forward to it. Anyhow, I'll do my utmost to make singing easy, and make a cool ensemble, full of live energy, resound.
PABLO
Guitar
Encountering the guitar at 12 years old, after many twists and turns, we arrive at the present. He does a wide variety of things.
A "vocalist" that boasts of immense popularity among teens. My niece is a big fan, so I'm very happy I'll be able to show her my cool side. However, since it's Miku-san, it's not like there's anything different than usual. I plan on doing my best with what I can do. I'll blow the venue away!
NOMA KOSUKE
Keyboard
In 2001 he formed the 3-piece piano band "Gagarin". After their disbandment, he also started a career as an arranger, and keyboardist. He is currently highly active in a variety of fields, such as providing music, arrangement, production, live support etc for all sorts of artists, like YUKI and Genki Rockets, Yuzu and NICO Touches the Walls.
Hatsune Miku......surprisingly feels very human......she might be easy to work with! But until I try on stage I won't know. Through this live, I've began wanting to get to know Hatsune Miku even more deeply (lol). At any rate, it's my first experience with a VOCALOID concert, so I'm excited to see what happens!
KIDO HIROSHI
Drums
After passing through an audition, at just 22 years old, he joined JUDE, led by Asai Kenichi of the former Blankey Jet City. After JUDE went on hiatus, in 2006 he formed unkie with TOKIE and Aoki Yutaka. Currently it is active as the main band. [Featured Artist] Fujifabric, Yoshii Kazuya, DREAMS COME TRUE, Motohiro Hata, Yaida Hitomi, Furukawa Miki, Fujimaki Ryouta (Remioromen), Ikimonogakari, the ARROWS, PUFFY, iLL etc.
Generally speaking, Hatsune Miku has an impressive aura of "Follow me". I think she's a cool person. Only, it's a pity she can't show up at the closing party.......United with someone like her and the band members, I want to put on a live that remains in history!!
IGARASHI KATSUNDO
Guitar
He has participated in live support and recording for many artists. [Live Support] Aragaki Yui, IMALU, SE7EN, JOKER, Takahashi Hitomi, Tsuji Shion, Tsuchiya Anna, Tsuruno Takeshi, Hirano Aya, Yazawa Yoko etc. [Recording] Katou Kazuki, kinki kid's, Kizuki Minami, Tsuruno Takeshi, JOKER, JAPAN BLOOD, SOURCE, Nakagawa Shouko, Hirano Aya, Yoshida Yamada etc.
It's my first experience with VOCALOID, so I'm looking forward to it. Hatsune Miku is already the same as a normal artist, or rather, I believe she is someone that expresses a new form of sound. Also, because she is always perfect, during rehearsals I rely on her more than anyone else. I want to make it a happy day along with the nice members!
UCHIMURA YUMI
Chorus
In 2004 she formed school food punishment, and was active as the vocalist. In 2009 they debuted on EPIC RECORDS JAPAN. In 2012, that same band broke up. Currently, she is active as the vocalist in la la larks, which she formed. Besides live activities, she actively collaborates with various artists.
Hatsune Miku, everyone's ideal existence, that lets us have many dreams. She accompanies me at practice no matter the time, so I'm very thankful. This concert is full of firsts for me, so I'm looking forwards to it. I will strive to do my best to make Hatsune Miku-san's songs sound even more wonderful.
MAGICAL MIRAI photo memories
A playback of the excitement of the 15,000 people that visited Yokohama Arena on August 30th 2013! Please take your time to enjoy the appearance of the electronic diva etched in the hearts of the audience with plenty of photos!

LIVE INTERVIEW Expolring the appeal of "MikuPa♪" through the band members' honest thoughts!
KOJI KINOSHITA - GUITAR
A field of spring onions spreading through the arena
--Your thoughts on the Kansai performance, please.
Preparations for that big an amount of songs, 39 of them, was difficult, but when the live started and I looked from upon the stage, I was deeply moved by the field of many spring onions spreading through the arena. Through Miku-san, a lot of people are connected, and I felt it becoming a great power.
--Please tell us your impression of Hatsune Miku.
I believe Hatsune Miku is a super singer who can sing any song well.
--Please tell us your favorite song from this live.
There are various songs so I couldn't decide, but I like "Albino" which turned out to be some cool guitar rock.
--When appearing with Hatsune Miku, was there anything you had to be careful of?
I tried not to treat her being a character as something special.
KOTA NAKAMURA - GUITAR
Miku-san is seriously an angel (lol)
--Please tell us what during the live has made a lasting impression the most?
Forming a large chorus with everyone in "Starduster" has left a strong impression.
--Has Hatsune Miku's existence changed before and after participating in the live?
I could sense the feelings of each producer of the songs being strongly expressed through Hatsune Miku. And, since those feelings reached the hearts of everyone who attended, I felt that she reeally is that popular. And now, before and after participating in the live, Miku-san is seriously an angel (lol)
--Is there anything you'd like to do with Hatsune Miku after this?
I want to expand my world even more and perform a world tour.
--How would you like people to watch this live footage?
It's the culmination of MikuPa, so I want them to enjoy this live created by uniting the songs one by one, Miku-san, the musicians and the staff.
MikuPa 2013 was a marathon
--Your thoughts on the Kansai performance, please.
On top of being the longest performance in my life up till now, I couldn't let my guard down even for a moment, so it was a live as if running a marathon (lol) After the end of the performance, I can't forget the sense of accomplishment when I returned backstage and the smiles of the members.
--Please tell us your impression of Hatsune Miku.
She's a true singer that makes you think "I wish there were singers like that"
--Please tell us your favorite song from this live.
I have fun performing all songs, but the audience's expectations for "Senbonzakura" are particularly high, so it's worth attempting, and because it's a song that gets them ovew=ewhelmingly hyped up, it's my favorite. However, the one I couldn't get out of my mind after the performance was "Himitsu Keisatsu". Miu!!! (lol) (T/N: As in the lyrics "omae wo mi(r)u")
--When appearing with Hatsune Miku, was there anything you had to be careful of?
In order to have them feel like she's breathings like a real person, I aimed to make them sense her breathings through the ending of guitar theme or solo performances, or the moment the vocals take over as the sound cuts off, I tried to breathe life into the character.
--Please tell us what during the live has made a lasting impression the most?
The moment the other half of the performance started, I'd say. With the lingering feeling of the first half and the halftime introduction, the audience got further hyped up. The restart came amid palpable anticipation for the second half. That moment was incredible.
TABOKUN - BASS
I want to keep raising Miku with everyone
--Has Hatsune Miku's existence changed before and after participating in the live?
Before getting involved with the live, I thought it was one-sided content created by someone to bring excitement. Being involved with the live, after I felt that she's an existence being raised by everyone pouring their love, she's become an irreplacable existence. The trigger for feeling like this was during the 2011 Sapporo performance, when I felt "Kinoppi-san's" affection as he was wiping the fingerprints left on the screen. "She is alive!!"
--Is there anything you'd like to do with Hatsune Miku after this?
I'd like to do a virtual trip. Kumano in Wakayama, Shiretoko in Hokkaido and so on, I want to create a concert by combining footage from sceneries of various places in Japan. And thus, I'd be happy to let the world know about Japan's good aspects such as entertainment or technology and sightseeing.
--How would you like people to watch this live footage?
The video, illumination, stage structure, performance, and the audience. Because it's a comprehensive entertainment created by all of those uniting as a team, even the people watching Mikupa for the first time should be able to enjoy it from the bottom of their hearts.
RYOICHI "KIKU" KIKUSHIMA - DRUMS
A live created by cutting-edge technology and users
--Your thoughts on the Kansai performance, please.
It has an overwhelming amount of songs, that is to say 39, compared to an ordinary live, and the intervals between the songs are short because of the fast-paced scenery changes, so it was something worth the challenge.
--Please tell us your impression of Hatsune Miku.
Wonderful made in JAPAN content, combining music created by the latest cutting-edge technology and users. Miku is the ultimate idol who has unwavering singing skills, can change her outfit in an instant, sing and dance.
--When appearing with Hatsune Miku, was there anything you had to be careful of?
I paid attention to the tone and timing.
--Please tell us your favorite song from this live.
"Migikata no Chou" is fun to perform, so it's my favorite from all the songs.
The glow of the chemical lights filling up the venue
--Please tell us what during the live has made a lasting impression the most?
The glow of the green chemical lights, which is Miku's character color, filling up the audience is etched into my memory.
--Is there anything you'd like to do with Hatsune Miku after this?
I want to attempt making beautiful harmonized music with Hatsune Miku and the other characters.
--How would you like people to watch this live footage?
The content is designed to be enyoyable for everyone from children to adults. I hope they enjoy watching it again and again.
Miku is Japan's cutting-edge diva
--Your thoughts on the Kansai performance, please.
It was a 3 hour performance iwth 39 songs spent along with many fans. Time passed in the blink of an eye, I think we put on an splendid live.
--Please tell us your impression of Hatsune Miku.
I believe she is a wonderful diva with lots of still hidden possibilities, a cutting-edge entertainmen that Japan takes pride in.
--Please tell us your favorite song from this live.
"Senbonzakura", "Albino", "Hatsune Miku no Gekishou", I can only narrow it down to those 3.
It's the band that makes or breaks Miku
--When appearing with Hatsune Miku, was there anything you had to be careful of?
It's our performace that will make or break Miku-chan's song. Anyhow I aimed to play correctly, but also in a way that felt human.
--Please tell us what during the live has made a lasting impression the most?
The impressive sense of unity of the venue. I'm always moved. I think you can't see unity so strong elsewhere. Also, the use offire during "Kocchi Muite Baby". It was so hot,I got worried it will spread to the side curtains (lol)
JUN IMAI - KEYBOARD
Miku grows with the audience
--Has Hatsune Miku's existence changed before and after participating in the live?
At the very start, when I heard about the live it wasn't a simple explanation of "It's a special live using CG". Once I actually participated, I got the sensation as if Miku was in the real world through the live and I came to feel that "Ah, this is no different than an ordinary live". The audience's reaction was also just like at a live artist performance, so I believe it's only because they were there, that this live came to be.
--Is there anything you'd like to do with Hatsune Miku after this?
Doing the staging together with the members would be fun, wouldn't it? For example, performing while standing back to back with the guitarist...is that possible? (lol)
--How would you like people to watch this live footage?
Above all, it's a video packed with the enthusiasm of the venue on that day. Please look, listen and enjoy every detail over and over!!
A live that requires a strict performance
--Your thoughts on the Kansai performance, please.
In the midst of things it was frantic, so I don't remember much to be honest. Later on when I listened to the live recording, I tholught over how great a live it was. I believe it is a live full of spirit like "With everyone united, you can put on a great live!"
--Please tell us your impression of Hatsune Miku.
I think she has greatly expanded the possibilities for the careers of musicians. Concerning the live, making or breaking Miku is completely up to the performers, so it demands a stricter performance than ever before, which is fun.
--When appearing with Hatsune Miku, was there anything you had to be careful of?
It's not like the song performance goes along with the atmosphere or tension of the place, but having said that, even if you play perfectly in sync with the click track, that can feel off. Especially for something like a piano ballad. Therefore, since it's about playing in a way that complements the song, so that it can be heard the best, I performed carefully.
--Please tell us your favorite song from this live.
"Time Machine", which simply a song to my liking, and I have fun playing it.
SACHIKO WAKAMORI - PERCUSSION
I nearly shed a tear feeling the power of the fans
--Please tell us what during the live has made a lasting impression the most?
I really felt the power of the fans. At the end of the performance, when we greeted them, I felt like crying a little (lol)
--Has Hatsune Miku's existence changed before and after participating in the live?
Since it's a program I was involved in, she's become a more familiar existence that I've come to be interested in. I'll be paying attention to the trends from now on (lol)
--Is there anything you'd like to do with Hatsune Miku after this?
I'm very interested in how the live perrformance changes from begging to end, so I'd like to try doing long tour.
--How would you like people to watch this live footage?
I think it really turned out like a live concert, thanks to the members' passionate performance, while still featuring Hatsune Miku. I hope they enjoy this sense of realism.
She had evolved within 1 year
--Your thoughts on the Kansai performance, please.
The number of songs and the size of the venue were incredible.
--Please tell us your impression of Hatsune Miku.
A singer that quickly evolves, within a year of not having seen each other.
--When appearing with Hatsune Miku, was there anything you had to be careful of?
"My partner is always perfect, but I won't lose!", or rather, I act in a way that makes us blend in well.
--Please tell us your favorite song from this live.
I like the POP aesthetic "Yellow" has.
HIRONORI NOMURA - STAGE DIRECTOR
Take me overseas too
--Please tell us what during the live has made a lasting impression the most?
I was really surprised by the crowd changing their penlight color to match the songs!
--Has Hatsune Miku's existence changed before and after participating in the live?
Even though I thought of her as existing inside a computer, the strange feeling of standing on the same stage is something I can't quite get used to. This sensation, I think it's something you can't understand if you don't join in the live, so those who have yet to participate, I'd like for them to join in a live and experience it by all means!
--Is there anything you'd like to do with Hatsune Miku after this?
I want them to take me along as a percussionist in the next overseas performance o(^_^)o
--How would you like people to watch this live footage?
If they brighten the room to create the ambience of a live venue, I believe they'll be able to recreate the atmosphere of that day. Also, enjoy the solo parts of each instrument!
It exists together with the audience
--What are your impressions after holding this live?
We have the impression that Miku-chan's live exists with the audience.
The audience, some of who are musicians, have accepted the use of CG and structure of the live, but up until this year we've been exploring, and this year we have become certain on our stance that "this is "MikuPa♪" should be like". I feel that the audience has started unerstanding how to enjoy it.
--I believe there are many highlights to this concert, but please tell us if there is something in particular that stood out.
In the lives up till now, in order to be looking at Miku-chan herself properly, we were aiming for simple art displays, but at the Kansai performance, we introduced a visually appealing and dynamic art set for the first time. This is a completely different concept than the making of any Hatsune Miku concert so far, but on the contrary it is also a concept based on what everyone in the audience was wishing for. I would also appreaciate if you pay attention to thte video collaboration that began witht the Sapporo performance.
--Your current mental state now that all performances have concluded, please.
Since it was the first time introducing footage and sets that give the appearance of a world, we managed to expand the world Miku-chan carries even more, so the sensation has grown, that we have come close to the world the songs imagine or the audience has in their minds. On the other hand, we are anticipating that the making of the performances hereafter will keep becoming more complex. I currently believe we have to proprly overcome that hurdle.
--Was there anything you were planning to do in advance or were particular about?
Expressing the details in scene changes or in-between songs, I tried to make "MikuPa♪" with the same feeling as a normal live. Treating her as 1 artist and using techniques to make her look even more beutiful, requires the exact same attention to detail as the making of a regular concert. Only just a little, there are special aspects to the how the lighting ought to be and directed (lol)
HIDEYUKI KINOSHITA - CG DIRECTOR/ CLOTHES DESIGN
To the artists who want to share a message
--Please tell us if there's any memorable impression from the reactiions of the audience.
If I had to bring up something that stayed in mt memory, it would probably be the audience's reaction to seeing "Tell Your World". I, myself, am contsantly working while sensing the audience's reactions during the performance, however the reaction reagrding this song, I felt it similar to the response at a song with the theme of world peace. I feel that they're not just grasping the lyrics and catchy melody, but are also sensing the message within the song. I am confident that the image the original artist conveys through this song is amplified as it reaches everyone. Aside from the cute, pop, surreal aspect, I think it has become the trigger to proceed to a new step of "message."
--Please tell us if there is anything you want to do next time.
I am thinking that I want to create a method of production that further makes the best use of the digital Miku-chan. Naturally the top priority would be building a system that expands the range of movement onstage, so that everyone, from the very front ot the very back, will be able to have the same view. I want to aim for a concert producton that cannot be seen at other concerts, but can only be materialzed with Miku. Furthermore, in contrast to that idea, I want to keep thinking of ways that make everyone strongly convinced Miku actually is at the concert venue, thgrough elements that exist in a typical concert, aside from movements and songs.
--In what way would you like people to watch this work as a video, different from a live concert?
You can only see Miku-chan from different angles in this video work, which you can't experience at a live venue. The detailed face expressions, and dynamic dance moves are highlighted from every angle. Moreover, I hope you enjoy the various parts of the stage I refused to compromise on. Of course, I want those who have yet only seen the video work to feel the overwhelming sense of excitment in the actual live venue.
Controling the movements onstage
--Your impressions on the Kansai performance, please.
I think the Kansai Miku fans had been looking forward to it, so we prepred it hoping to give the fans the best live and have them go home with a smile. If they were standing at the very back, Miku-san might have appeared a bit small, but I believe they enjoyed the lively atmosphere.
--What was Hatsune Miku's number one highlight in this performance?
"Himitsu Keisatsu" which utilized the motions from the game [Project Diva]. Miku-san moving aroung holding the mic in one hand, singing while putting a foot on the monitor is a must-see!
--Please tell us your favorite song from this live's songs.
I love all songs, but I especially like "letter song". The lyrics "To my future self of 10 years", the part where the still inexperienced yet somehow a bit mature "self" asks a question to the future "self", really strikes a chord in my heart.
While creating the movements
--Was there order in the CG production?
The producer said "Since this will be the first song, I want it to feel exciting" or "I want to end it gently with the encore song", so there was order regarding the flow of everything and for each song. It's obvious but, when you're both taking it seriously, there will be times when you clash. In order to smoothly resolve that, we had to go through repeated trial and error.
--Please tell us a song made an ipression thanks to its CG production.
In "Tell Your World", carrying out the production of the costume change during the exciting part right before the chorus impressed me. I did think it made sense for her to sing while still in her official clothing, but I believe, singing after changing to the costume from the song's [CD] packaging is even more meaningful.
KEI SUZUKI - BANDMASTER/MANIPULATOR
MikuPa 2013, and from now on
--Is there anything you'd like to challenge with Hatsune Miku after this?
As long as Hatsune miku exists, music producers exist, and users seeking for that exist, I want to continue putting on lives. Taking everyone along to the future world, will be my goal from now on.
After the first Kansai prformance
--Your impressions on the Kansai performance, please.
It's the first Kansai peerformance, and also the culmination of the Asia tour, so we were really fired up. We concentrated on the various productions and designs for all 39 songs, so I think it turned out having all sorts of content.
--Please tell us your favorite song from this live's songs.
It's "Hatsune Miku no Gekishou". The music, video, production, I believe it's a song that puts all of Miku's traits to good use.
As the band leader
--Please tell us if there were any difficulties with Miku and the band members synchronizing.
The feeling of reality will fade if the movemnts and voice, the performance is off by even 1/100th of a secons, so we paid attention to the synchronization of Miku and the band's performance.
--Out of the band members, who did you feel grew closer to Miku most?
The guitarist Kinoshita-san, I guess? Since he's the only member to be taking part in all of this since 2011.
MikuPa 2013, and from now on
--Please tell us what during this live has made a lasting impression the most?
The feeilng of freedom the moment the performance ended wiyhout incident, including the encore. We did a great number if things you could not experience in a normal live, but that air of tension or sense of duty weighed heavily on me. The sense of reliefe when the last performance ended successfully, and the smiles showing on everyone who visited, stay deeply in my heart.
--Please tell us if there's anything you want to do from the next live onwards.
I want to do lives whre I can connect and ineract with Hatsune Miku even more.
--In what sortof environment would you like people to watch this live footage?
Please watch it with a 5.1 sound system! If you don't have one, watch it together at a friend's house or something (lol) By feeling the atmosphere and sense of unity in the venue, you can have a simulated experience, so please enjoy it as if you have are together with the actual crowd. The Hong Kong, Taiwan performance and the 2013 Sapporo performance included in the special discs are good too! Especially in the Hong Kong-Taiwan performance, the crowd was singing energetically. Crossing the borders and becoming one through the live deeply moved me.
2013 KANSAI 2013.03.09 at WAKAYAMA BIG WHALE GOODS LIST
PV collection and commentary by Mienohito, including popular songs such as Senbonzakura and Paradi/Antichlorobenzene. All links are either official uplaods or from my channel (except ACUTE...the PV has no official upload and when I tried to post it, it got blocked everywhere but Japan...)
Regarding this, there was a relatively sudden request of production by Polypho-san.
My biggest worry with this video was probably the encoding of the file for Niconico Douga.....
The so-called "encode-killing"(?) issues were the highest they've ever been, so I tried various things, and in the end, I settled for the format that's currently posted....
Perhaps, in this DVD, I think the difference in image quality with the Niconico Douga version is most noticeable.
The production itself went smoothly, but this might be the only time I've panicked over the encoding (lol)
In that sense, I believe it is a video that really left an impression on me.
I first met cosMo-san at the 2009 Autumn M3, but we unexpectedly talked about collaborating, so I remember being really happy lol
If I remember correctly, I was asked before the release of his first album "Hatsune Miku no Shoushitsu", however I remember there were only 3-4 days for the production period (lol)
According to cosMo-san, it's a song that went through various changes on the way, but while thinking "I guess I'll try moving things just a bit", I had a fun time producing it.
This is a completely separate subject, but I've only ever seen a cosplay of cosMo-san's Miku once, and I was also impressed at how beautiful her skin was.
This is the 4th music video in collaboration with otetsu-san.
I believe it was produced with the intention of "making an eye-straining video" from the start....
The illustrator riria009-san is an editing-obsessed person, and I was asked to "Please play around with the illustartions in the video", but in this video I tried chopping off Luka's head, so deep down I was thinking "I wonder if she'll get mad at me for this?", however that was absolutely not the case (lol)
It's a video where I was allowed to do various things as I pleased, so in relation to that whenever I saw "my eyes hurt" type of comments, I'd grin.
This is the 2nd time I collaborated with Kurousa-san for a video.
There's a few anecdotes, but I was actually told "Please make this before the Summer Comiket" and somehow I made it in time, but what happened was that Kurousa-san of all people was too busy and forgot to post it (lol)
Because of that, in the end it was posted on that date, you know. (T/N: Comiket was on August 14-16 and ACUTE was posted on August 20th)
Another one is, I did various things like that, making blood spurt out of KAITO's mouth or Miku's neck, however it sadly got rejected by Kurousa-san....
That's why, the stuff that appear in the final version, have been expressed quite softly.
In the short PV that came after for the EXITTUNES compilation (T/N: I assume he's referring to this short PV for the Vocalocluster album by EXIT TUNES), I secretly did something I couldn't and I'm glad I didn't get caught....
The first time I collaborated with OwataP-san is this video.
At first the two of us were talking about how "The previous 2 [songs] from the series have like 3000 views, so it'd be nice if this reaches 5000 views.", but, putting it bluntly, I was honestly producing it while thinking "[it'll probably be] around 2000 views" (lol)
At that time, OwataP-san was the type to gain popularity only from joke songs, but to think it'd reach this point was completely unexpected.
In that sense, I believe it was a fresh collaboration.
Incidentally, my impression after seeing OwataP-san for the first time was "Ah, this person looks like someone you'd normally see at a golf course".
This is a video I collaborated with Owata-san on, on the 1 year anniversarry of Paradi.
When I listened to the song, I remember thinking "Ah, this is Owata-san's masterpiece."
It's the same with Paradi, I created the Benzene series with my own interpretation, without being told the answer, and only Owata-san himself knew the real answer.
In that sense, even if you interpret this video directly, you might come close to the right answer (because you're only given hints), but it might not be the completely correct answer....
Actually right after posting it, we went to play mahjong with Owata-san, completely ignoring the video's performance, so when we were told about it by others, we were both left speecheless. That was memorable.
07. heavenly blue Lyrics, Music: 164 Illustration: Torigoe Takumi
I've always loved the VOCALOID producer 164-san, and I've always been listening to him ever since "shiningray", so I can recall even now how happy I was when he reached out to me.
At that time, VOCALOID related SNS such as mixi or "Nyappon" were popular, and at mixi I created this community for collabs, and there we mainly held dicussions.
Putting together 164-san's, Torigoe Takumi-san's and my HN (handle names), it was something like "三越 Hiroshi" (lol) (T/N: Taking the artists' name into accoun that'd be Migoe, but apparently it's read as MItsukoshi,,,bonus reading I found was san'etsu aka the three former provinces of Echizen, Etchu and Echigo, which is kinda funny it's region-related just like Mienohito's name which literally means "Person from Mie (prefecture)" lol)
The topic name for that meeting was quite awful, it was "Pafupafu bar".
We also talked about things that were quite irrelevant.
Collabs with Kurousa-san generally go smoothly, but this is the video where my and the illustrator, Ittomaru-san's, opinions clashed the most with Kurousa-san's.
That part is a bit intersting, I quite often use Kurousa-san's character (the black rabbit), but in this video, I was playing around by sending it flying into the sky.
Ittomaru-san thought it was fun and approved of it, but Kurousa-san spoke about how "Won't it be better without this?", and ultimately it was because of Ittomaru-san's words "It's funny so let's go with it" that we ended up using it.
I wanted to make it feel subtly old-fashioned and tacky, but, even now, I don't know whether that was achieved or not. (lol)
YuuyuP is the person who created the song "Shiro no Kisetsu" that got me into liking VOCALOID, so I never imagined we'd make something together.
The reason we came to collaborate is a little unusual, we would often play the Time Attack in "Shiren the Wanderer" together (T/N: Shiren the Wanderer is a roguelike RPG and Time Attack Mode is unlocked after completing the Table Mountain, where you have to clear the dungeon again as quickly as possible and under a few conditions), and during a live broadcast on NIconico there was a comment like "Won't Yuuyu-san and Mieonohito-san ever do a collab or something?", and with that as the trigger, it started with a "Well, let's do it."
So we started discussing what to do about the illustration, but having famous people team up and releasing a video is so common, and personally I'd prefer people who aren't that well-known, so talking about how even if it's like a stepping stone for them it'd be nice, we searched through Niconico Seiga and ended up comissioning SoRaTo-san.
There might be some who are not aware, but YuuyuP-san's main occupation is as a pro gamer. (This is a joke)
There's this club event that started around 2009 in Shibuya called V_N (currently V_C), where VOCALOID producers DJ and such, and since around 2010 I've had the pleasure of VJ-ing there, so I received the offer from SuketchP, who I was getting along with, and this video came to be.
I was also introduced to iXima-san, and so I was quite highly motivated to prouduce it.
This is something that can be said for VOCALOID music as a whole, but there are so many songs with incredibly high sound pressure, it is very pleasant to listen to, so personally I really love this song.
It's the song following Xenon-P-san's "Hayabusa" etc in the Heavy Metal Heroes Series.
We actually have a lot of things in common with Xenon-P-san, there's that we "usually wear sunglasses, are the same age, can't drink alcohol etc...", and I still remember saying how "Aren't we actually siblings, huh?", when we first met.
I was prepared for it to be long, but when I listened to the song exceeding 7 minutes and 30 seconds, I was really surpised.
It's a song with a sense of transparency and grandeur, and yet it has momentum, so I believe it was the hardest video to create right after Paradichlorobenzene.....
That being the case, my attachment to it grew stronger, so when releasing this DVD, I was pushing really hard to include this song (lol)
I believe this is likely the song I studied the most, as I was producing.
12. Risky Game Lyrics, Music: KurousaP Illustration: Ittomaru
Since "ACUTE", Kuorusa-P didn't post for over a year, and I have a strong memory of being surprised when he suddenly contancted me on Skype.
It' s also the song for which I worked with Ittomaru-san for the first time, and also has string instruments, which is typical of Kurousa-san, so I got hyped up.
I myself like extravagant things, so as I was producing it I was consciously trying to make it simple.
I was working on it while streaming on Niconico Live, and Miku's skirt is transparent, so I zoomed in on that part as much as I could and I feel like I ws working on it while talking about how "The fact you can see everything under the skirt here is very erotic and cool, right?" (lol)
13. HALO Lyrics, Music: rerulili(ToushahiP) Logo Design: Diabolo
The fact the logo was the only material available was striking, but I believe this is the only video created with the approach of "just making it simple, without doing anything complicated".
I've always felt that "Using cheap techniques like AfterEffects, for example, to do something difficult and creating something visually stunning" is, in a sense, somethings anyone can do as long as they spend enough time, so it's not intersting, and what's really hard, in terms of skill, is using just basic and easy techniques to keep the viewers' attention for 4 minutes. I think that's far more challenging.
In that sense, regarding this video, this is just my personal opinion, but it is my favorite video....
At the time of releasing this DVD, when discussing how "You'd want at least one song to be a new song, right?", I neve thought I'd be making it alongside this person.
It was a surprisingly difficult to make video, and since the song has an incredible energy, I've been left with the impression that I was constantly overwhelmed by it (lol)
Personally, I liked "Luna" the most, and just like with Risky Game, I was staring intensely at the illustration.
I belive I made this video. Like I usually do.
This is a Japanese-style rock song by Polypho-san, posted after "Senbonzakura".
But, as a matter of fact, I received the song itself even before Senbonzakura.
Having the illustrations ready, it ended up being posted at that time, but this is interesting too, with all its quirks, isn't it?
At the time of recording, when it came to including a video from Polypho-san, I was very torubled about including this one or another song, "Taiyou to Tsuki no Rondo", so during a phone call with Polypho-san, I asked him something like "Which one should we include?", and we eventually decided on this song.
To tell you the truth, video-wise, when looking at the finished product, I personally like this more than Senbonzakura, but this stays just between us (lol)
16. Uta ni Katachi wa Nai Keredo Lyrics, Music: doriko Illustration: Ichiyou Moka
This time I made the video for a song by doriko-san released in 2008.
I've always loved this song, and I sing it quite often in karaoke....
When it came to creating a new work and wondering which already existing song to go with, it was also the song I suggested first.
I was thinking how I wanted some pretty illustrations, so I comissioned Ichiyou Moka-san.
I do like making videos for ballad songs too, so in that sense, I was really able to make the video as I wanted to, so I had a lot of fun during the production.
It's the song that completely changed my surrounding environment.
I've already shared some behind-the-scences stories about the production process for "Kurousa works" by Ascii-san [Asciii Media Works], so I'll talk about something else here.....
Right now it has 4 million views, and adding the views from youtube it's at nearly 10 million views, but during the production, I was making it while thinking "It probably won't do very well" (lol)
I've always liked fancy things, so I often get told things like "This hurts my eyes", but for this I went all out and made it without holding back, and I never expected it'd come this far.
That was also the case with the "Benzene" series, but in general when things take an unexpected turn, they almost always end up in a completely unplanned way.
This is one of the most interesting things about VOCALOID, and I think this collab video is where I felt it most strongly.
As for the "fun" part of this video, I conspired with Ittomaru-san to create a large amount of Kurousa-sans as we please and mess around (lol)
Originally there were more of them and they had movement, but Kurousa-san put a stop to it, so, reluctantly, we had to cut back on a lot of things.
This is the video I had the most fun making after all.

Born in 1983, he focuses on creating VOCALOID MVs, at the video sharing site "Niconico Douga".
Since the release of "the end" on January 2009, he continues being very active.
Starting with "Senbonzakura", which became his biggest hit and currently has over 4 million views, he has already produced over 40 videos with more than 100.000 views.
In 2012, he collaborated with Daisy×Daisy and Komuro Tetsuya among others, and is effectively the most popular video creator on the internet.
Same thing as last time, commentaries from artists of the songs/PVs, all linked with official uploads or unofficial ones from my channel. Excuse my laziness for not also linking the producers'/artists' social media...I'd recommend looking any additional info on vocaDB, eveything is there 99% of the time :') othwerwise ask and I'll try to help :')))
01 Gekido of Hatsune 04:35 - PonpokoP feat.Hatsune Miku
Video: PonpokoP BGM: Night of Nights MikuMikuDance: Higuchi M Model Production: Animasa
It's the sense of speed I felt when I first listened to Night of Nights. I tried to incorporate that image as best as I could. Even if you can't draw or program, with MikuMikuDance you can create 3D animations. Wow, what a time to live in. -PonpokoP
Since it's an extremely cheerful, lively and fun song, making the video was very enjoyable too. Let's all drink! Vegetable juice!! -Sunafuki Tabibito
03 Hachune Miku o Fuyashitemita. 02:33 - Otomania/Kumazou feat.Hatsune Miku
Arrangement: Otomania, Finnish folk song Video: Kumazou "Hachune Miku" Character Design: Tamago "Hachune Miku" 3DCG Modeling: Zusa
The Hachune model on the "三次元CG@七葉" bulletin board (T/N: that reads sanjigen, meaning 3D, and Nanoha(?), which apparantly used to be a forum where artists could share thier 3D models) was so cute, so I put her in Otomania-san's famous song and when I tried adding more, it turned out like this. To think it'd make it in a DVD......Hachune......what a terrifying girl! -Kumazou
At that time, around when Miku's character was mainly thought of as adorable, I was given the opportunity to draw incorporating my self-indulgent interpretation, in my own way. Make sure to check out the video created through trial and error withe everyone from supercell. -Miwa Shirou
Matching OwataP-san's music, I posed Hatsune-san with a beaming smile. It is percisely when you fall into adversity, if you can overcome it with a smile...I tried expressing those feelings. -y0641983
Have you ever experienced looking after someone who is unwell, but when they feel better you're treated as unwanted? Even if you didn't do it expecting something in return, it does make you feel sad, doesn't it? Cheerful yet painful, it's that kind of song. -OSTER project
Music and video are just like flames. Shining, just for an instant. And then going out.... However there are many songs that did not shine. To such voiceless songs, she keeps stoking the fire. -Ueno Yuujin
"Trasure youself and those dear to you, okay?, Good morning-ing." (T/N: as in the "ohayoohayo" part of the lyrics) I want to go search for you. What she saw at the end of the journey was-- I was aware of the contrast between the protagonist's simply pure character and the world after "the tender blue sky crumbled" (T/N: referring to the "yasashii aozora okkochite" lyrics), but what do you think..! |'ω'| I'll leave the interpretation of the end up to you ◎ I've put together everything I want to convey in the video,,♪ -sasakure.UK
Thinking about how the theme of this song is "the feeling of wishing for the happiness of someone you will never see again", I created it witht the objective of letting others "experience" that visually. -nyohoho
"Conveni" (T/N: konbini = convenience store), which led to me becoming involved with VOCALOID, is a memorable work. I dedicate this PV to everyone who loves cokesi-san and "Conveni". May the hearts of as many people as possible be warmed! -Yunomi
13 Hato 04:05 - Kazami Len/BrotherP feat.Hatsune Miku
Lyrics: Kazami Len Composition: Kazami Len Video: BrotherP
From the lyrics filled with hato (pigeons), I made a simple and high-tension song. I prepared the main riff and intertwined it with the melody. It was meant to be sung cheerfuly by a silly girl(/child), but it was sung cutely. I dedicate this to all hato ・鳩胸 fans. (T/N: that says hatomune which literally translates to pigeon chest/breast, it mostly seems to refer to "Pectus carinatum, deformity of the chest, protruding ribs and sternum" and according to some online dicitonaries, less commonly, "a woman with big breats"...but I'm honestly lost on what exactly is trying to be said here,,,sorry^^) -Hadano-P (Kazami Len)
Collection of PVs from the DVD with short comments from an artists of each. Most don't have official uploaads so I've linked my reuploads of them. The artist commentary is at the back of a poster so, uh, kinda hard to scan,,
01 Hajimete no Oto [3D PV] 02:19 - malo/puni-ko feat.Hatsune Miku
Lyrics: malo Composition: malo Video: puni-ko
This was a movie created impulsively after being impressed by the magnificence of the song. For this DVD release, adjustments have been made to all cuts. I hope you enjoy this high quality video, which is just a little different from NND. -puni-ko
It's lively but if you listen close it's heartbreaking, it's a video made after falling in love at first sight with cute Miku. It was percisely because of love that I was able to create it, despite starting off with no knoweledge on videos or anything. Please watch this video packed with various stuff, along with Miku's earnest singing voice! -Nishiki Koi
03 World is Mine 04:21 - supercell feat.Hatsune Miku
Lyrics: ryo Composition: ryo Video: redjuice
It's my first joint work with supercell. It's a kamishibai-like (T/N: kamishibai is a form of Japanese street theater and storytelling with pictures) PV with just 3 pictures, but it was viewed by a lot of people and was even made into a figure so it's a work I am very attached to. The collaborations with ryo are always a trigger that break my shell. The original song is getting a major label release. -redjuice
This video is a low cost one made with only my cell(/mobile) phone camera and free software, but I believe that, on the contrary, that roughness is one of the main causes that it was able to receive response. Stay away from the screen so you don't feel sick! -kisk_baker
05 melody.exe ver2.00 05:03 - Kio PV sound union feat.Hatsune Miku
Lyrics: mikuru396 Composition: mikuru396 Video: Ussy, kio
The highlight of this PV is everything. Music, video production, 3D models, there's s attention to detail in everything, and in addition, it's a work combining the different characteristics and genres of 3 people. I would be happy if the more evolved 'melody...' could forever remain in everyone's memories! (T/N: "melody..." is the title of the original, first version of the song by the way) -Kio PV sound union
This is something I created after thinking I had to make a PV for this the moment I listened to the Black★Rock Shooter song, the 2 weeks before its completion I kept facing my PC, but oddly enough without even getting tired, I just single-mindedly immersed myself in my work. The character in the PV is not Hatsune Miku, but I'm glad it was it was able to be included. -huke
07 Last Night, Good Night 06:28 - livetune feat.Hatsune Miku
Lyrics: kz Composition: kz Video: redjuice
It's a video created after I selfishly said "While we're at it let me make the PV", since I had the opportunity to have been responsible for the album cover illustration. I had wanted to create the PV for kz-san's song ever since I first listened to Packaged, so I was absolutely happy. Part of the picture halfway through (the song/PV) has been swapped with the NND version. It's a slightly higher image quality version. -redjuice
This time, "Dear", which Ι produced, slightly differing from the Remix Edition uploaded on Niconico Douga a few days ago, is a video where I was allowed to give shape to the interpretation of 19's Sound Factory-sama's original (song). Even based on the prior meetings, I think the Remix became a completely separate video of Dear. If even a little you can feel Miku who is slowly recovering, even after having lost a dear person, I would be happy. -Mienohito
For many seasons the feelings for one's lover who has left their side grow stronger, a song with that sort of image. Its key point is the 90's J-POP-like taste and the fast manner of singing unique to VOCALOID. -SHIKI
This work expresses the amazingness of human imagination through 3DCG and music, as long as that's pretty it's not worth worrying about. Please enjoy the cool and slightly grown-up Miku-san. -Tripshots
It's my first work in collaboration with doriko-san, so it holds a special place in my heart. If you can feel the warm air and the painful atmoshepere in the evening(/setting) sun, I'd be happy. -nezuki
This PV was created aiming for a Miku who sings and sprouts(?). The sunflowers were made with the image of the picture from the original "Smiley^2" video in mind. All together, let's fulfill Miku's ambition! Please enjoy version1.1. -Moch
More from the Corruption Garden blu-ray booklet, this time the short promos for Shade and VOCALOID (Luka mostly). Decided to include them separately from the artist Q&A so that the post doesn't get longer plus this is less interesting lmao. I feel like I might have messed up the order a bit in the end (like the V2 part may be before the one about bringing creators together) but I feel it doesn't really affect anything much,,,^^;;

The "force" that connects creators
Nowadays that a great number of video contents can be viewed on the web, music too has increasingly become something that is not just the sound of a voice, but has a video attached. Regarding connections through the internet, the opportunities for those who specialize in music production and those who specialize in video production to collaborate have increased.
Caz-san the producer of CORRUPTION GARDEN, and IKEDA-san who made the 3DCG PV, both apparently love Megurine Luka. Certainly, Megurine Luka became the force that connected these two talented creators.
Just like this, the Character Vocal Series, connecting many creators, has given birth to a new world that has surpassed the music&video genre.
What is VOCALOID 2?
The name of the technology that synthesizes vocals extremely realistically based on recorded human voices, researched and developed by Yamaha Corporation, is "VOCALOID 2". With this vocal syntesis engineyou can now accurately express fortissimo and crescendo, and even vibrato. By allowing to change the way of singing or type of voice to match the lyrics, and even naturally recreates taking breaths, you can reproduce an extremely realistic singing voice.
VOCALOID is a registered trademark by Yamaha Corporation.
These are from the booklet included in the Corruption Garden Blu-Ray/DVD. Corruption Garden is a song by Caz feat. Megurine Luka (doesn't have an official upload so that's my upload of the blu-ray content). The Blu-Ray/DVD promotes its 3DCG MV by IKEDA, as well as Luka/VOCALOID and Shade3D (the program used). The ads for these in the booklet I'll dedicate a separate post to. Sorry for the amount of notes on IKEDA's part....

Feet are nice (T/N: He says 足いいお足, wehre 足=feet, いい=good/nice, but お足 I can find basically meaning "money" so I'm not sure if he's trying to make a pun/joke or something...And i don't think it's the お- used as a prefix to sound polite because I believe for legs it becomes おみ足),,,Fishnets & garter are just so aqwsdefrgtyfu
What do you spend your days off doing? I create 3D I guess~ Ah, lately I've been addicted to pachinko. But I don't win...But I'm in an endless loop of this no-good life of doing it because it's fun
Ways to relieve stress? I do it! Ah, use Shade I mean
What do you want most now? Sense lol. Every day I imagine if I could create a unique world that anyone who saw would be able to tell is me,,, It's hard~
One day in the life of Mr. IKEDA
Sleep, work, make various stuff
Q&A ~question and answer~
----What made you start creating CG?
It started when my friend told me "If you're gonna do 3D isn't Shade easy?". Ever since then I stopped playing and started messing around with Shade every day.
----About how many days was the production period?
Around 4 months...? It took roughly that long and the characters, battleships and other various stuff I made in about 1 month, and while making them "Ah~ A story like this with this kind of scene would be interesting~ If I do that, I should also make this~ Ah, rain looks cool so I should create some rain...But if it's in the middle of the song it will be weird so I'll add it at the start..." I was doing things like that,,,The next 2-3 months, I feel I was coming up with stuff as I worked on the rendering of the animation and adjustments or the composition of the overall scene.
----Were there any troubles during the making? And if there's any countermeasures
Troubles, is it,,, Everything lol. The animation was hard,,,I worked hard on the keyframe animation of how I should make the hair move or the movement of the clothes...But since it's keyframe animation making them move realistically is extremely difficult, so to copy the movment you cheat by using camera shake (motion blur) while decreasing the difficult parts of the production as much as possible, but so that the quality doesnt drop,,,etc etc. And so that the footage transitions don't become monotone matching them to the song and quickly making them change smoothly, adding the scenes matching the high and low points of the song, having created something but not including it, you know. That's, well, everything, isn't it lol
----What were your thoughts when you first listened to the song by Caz-san you used this time?
I personally liked the part after StandbyReady starting from the rain. I got the feeling there is a story and suddenly an image appeared in my mind☆ At that moment without having images assembled, for some reason a vague scene came to mind. Maybe they were robots fighting with sword or maybe something else, it was something I didn't clearly grasp, but the moment I heard it I got the feeling of "I'm fighting!"
----Who are some artists you respect?
Christian Riese Lassen, Towel-san of RoboRevo, hinemaru-san of Tully, Pom-san and Aoki Kaoru-san (T/N: literally the only thing I can find about them is this interview because the link to their personal blog is dead...) too make nice pictures, don't they? They're the people who create exactly what I can't do, but I wanted to make soemthing like this! (T/N: kinda lost on this part but I want to believe he means the other artists make him go "hey I wanna do that too! But I can't,,," although i may be wrong,,sorry ;^;),,, Ah, I like Gackt-san!
----Please tell some tips and tricks and secret techniques to the people who want to start Shade in the future
In IKEDA production diary I'll inroduce you to feautes that are not very well known even to those currently using it (Shade), I'll introduce "They say this can't be done, but if you do it this way you can do it", so to those interested who are already using it and those who are about to start, I think it would be very useful if you could take a look at it. By the way, Shade is still at a stage where character animation is very difficult, I believe it's good for the people who think "It's cheap so I want to use it a bit", "I'm interested in 3D so I kinda want to test it out"☆ You can buy the Basic version for 10,000 yen☆
----A word for Mr. Caz
Rukarukarun!!!!!! (T/N: I assume he means Luka since they both seem to love her...)
----Is it Luka after all?
Well she does have a big chest and is sexy. But I'm actually also making Miku and Rin&Len☆ They are charming in their own way and the derivative Zatsune-san is cool too and Teto-chan was also made public on niconico seiga (T/N: Link unavailable to people overseas now, but it's basically a niconico site for sharing pictures/illustrations), but they are all lovely☆ If I had to say which,,,as expected it'd be Luka-sama with her chest and legs rftguuiop
----What are your aspirations for the future?
I want to create my own 30 minute original story full CG video using only Shade, clearly I have reckless ambitions lol
-----Lastly, a word for the fans please
Thank you for watching everyone☆ And to those who advertised the video, those that commented, thank you☆ I look at every comment lol I also look at old ones appearing in past logs☆ It's a video I started making after thinking it's a cool song, but a lot of peaople saw it, and a lot of people listened to Caz-san's song, which makes me happy too☆
I'm thinking I want to make a video as I like again with a song I find good again, so I'd be happy if you took a look at that when the time comes☆ I want to do Miku too, Len-kun is also cool, I want to make Rin-chan move and Teto-chan too,,, It'd be kinda amazing if they all performed lol There are too many things I want to do to keep up with, but someday I'll do it again so I'll be counting on you!
The 39s Interview
~Looking back on MIKUNOPOLIS in LA~
(I am still very much learning Japanese and am doing this as a way to practice, so it’s highly likely the translation is inaccurate in some parts…sorry,,I did try my best to get most stuff across tho. This interview is from the booklet included in the MIKUNOPOLIS concert DVD/Blu-ray)
Around when did the talks for the MIKUNOPOLIS performance start?
Tanaka: Around April. At first we didn’t know if it would happen or not, and after about a month passed, the rehearsal in Japan was decided. When thinking we’d put on a show after all, I got the feeling I was already in Los Angeles
Kuroda: It started in earnest around June, huh.
Orita: When going to the rehearsals, it finally felt like “we’re going to perform in LA”.
The NOKIA Theatre venue is like the Budokan in Japan, isn’t it?
Tanaka: At the time I didn’t know its greatness. I actually studied abroad in LA, and when I told my teacher from back then “The day after tomorrow, I’m performing in LA”, he replied “Seriously!?”. “So it’s that great…” I was surprised.
Kuroda: We were able to enjoy the day-of without stress, didn’t we?
Tanaka: Even though it was a performance with barely any preparation. We did a sound check at least.
Abe: We didn’t have time to practice at the actual place.
So that’s how you can get that quality.
Tanaka: It’s because everyone’s power to turn sound into music is wonderful.
Abe: With these members, there aren’t really any difficulties, are there?
Tanaka: We can talk with ease, it’s easy being with each other. I believe the band’s unity certainly got stronger.
With each live, did your unity with Hatsune Miku also get strong?
Kuroda: The love deepens, doesn’t it?
Abe: Seeing the live from a place other than ours (T/N: where they stand, the stage I assume) makes you think ”Huh?”. Though it’s only natural since she’s not a person.
For the structure of the band, the fact that sting instruments joined was big.
Orita: The strings were at the edge, so playing together felt good.
Abe: In order to perform at NOKIA Theatre, we added the string instruments. The venue is just big, and only 4 people would seem lonely. In fact, it was pretty good sound-wise, so I believe adding the string instruments was the right answer.
The 39s Member Introduction
(From the right of the picture)
Abe Jun (Keyboard)
Orita Shin (Drums)
Tanaka Shingo (Bass)
Kuroda Akitoshi (Guitar)
Is there a memorable performance?
Kuroda: “PoPiPo”. From the high-speed unison, the moment the A melody came in felt good. We were in unison with all the string instruments
Tanaka: Since Abe-san calmly says “In unison” or something (lol).
Abe: I thought maybe the one who has it the hardest is the bass after all. If it’s Shingo-chan, he can perform the best even in Japan. (T/N: Yeah pretty sure I’m off by a bit here,,)
Tanaka: For “PoPiPo”, I remember when everyone in the audience went “Wow”. “Everyone knows this, huh” I thought. We are wearing earphones on stage, so if it isn’t of a considerable volume, we can’t hear the cheering. It was the moment “PoPiPo” started when I could hear it.
Abe: For me it is “Project Diva desu.” at the very start, and the last song “Hajimete no Oto”. The shock(/impact) of the time we started playing at the opening, there’s something about it you can’t forget. There’s also something deeply moving about the formation at the end of the string instrument and piano, as well as only Hatsune Miku.
What was different about the audience in Japan and America?
Abe: The cheering, I felt it was somehow different compared to Japan. It was loud, I mean, they raised their hands with a “Whoa”.
Tanaka: The cosplayers also looked like the real thing.
Orita: There was, like, a girl cosplaying Luka, it was awesome.
Did you hear the impressions of the fans there?
Tanaka: When the performance ended, we boarded the return flight right away.
Orita: About 45 minutes after the performance was over, we were at the airport, if I’m not mistaken. Abe-san stayed behind, right?
Abe: After that, I went to San Diego, but since it was Independence Day, there was a festive mood. At the booths there, I found a mobile strap with negi (spring onion/leek) designs. I thought there’s no way, and when I picked it up there was a “Hatsune Miku” tag attached. At a stall in an area unrelated to Anime Expo, there were Miku merchandise being sold. Mixed in with other Japanese characters, Miku too has gained (social) recognition it seems.
That’s cool. Lastly, do you want to do a live in some different country?
Abe: I’d like to perform in various places on earth, you know? As Japan’s “weapon”. (?)
Kuroda: I want to get the feeling of “I want to return to Japan soon” (lol).
We look forward to your impressive appearance overseas again. Thank you.
