“But as bad as it was, I learned something about myself … That I could go through something like that, and survive.”
— Nicholas Sparks
“Don’t judge yourself by what others did to you.”
— C. Kennedy
your friends think about you, y'know? they smile and think about goofy shit you've said. they pray for you. they smell your perfume in a shop and think of you fondly. they tell anecdotes involving you to strangers and friends. they remember the way you hug or bite or high five and want to repeat it with you. they love you. i promise.
The abuse you endured was not on your terms.
But your healing can be.
Your healing is for you, no one else, and you get to decide what’s right for you when it comes to healing.
This is a tough pill to swallow and fuck is it true
Your needs are not too much. You’re allowed to communicate what you don’t like or what you would like more of, even if people already do a lot for you. You’re important and not annoying at all. Communication is so important and most people enjoy getting friendly feedback. Especially with your partner, it’s always an ongoing conversation about needs and wants. Be brave and talk about it.
“No matter the outcome of a battle, there is always a new one to fight. Learn to let go.”
— Prasad Narulkar
“Note to self: You’ve gotta do this for you. This is for you. This isn’t about anybody. Live for you. Honour you. Never lose sight of that.”
