A collection of writing today is still called an anthology, which derives from two Greek words: anthos (flowers) and logy (to speak of).
An excerpt from Gardens: A Literary Companion.
This book is super interesting. It wasn’t until my recent visit to the Tulip Museum in Amsterdam that I realized how much people care about flowers. The fact that “Tulip Mania” was a thing is insane. Also in one of the essays from “Gardens”, there’s a man who almost dies to bring home a bunch of flowers and seeds and junk and thought it was totally worth it.
My “learned thing” for today was supposed to be where the word anthology came from, but I guess it’s actually the fact that flower nerds exist.
Speaking of flower nerds…
The quickest doodle of Poison Ivy.
(ps. it’s actually this girl who is poison…)
(pps. a lot of Bell Biv Devoe today.)
