Something about the bastardization of the story time and time again proves that nobody in power really cares about the people who would resonate with King’s Carrie White. A girl so ugly and repulsive she’s been removed from her own story. The societal need for women and girls to be constantly perceived as attractive is what fuels a fair amount of her torment in the book, but that person isn’t even allowed to exist on the screen. We cannot empathize with her; it isn’t allowed. It’s fascinating to me.
where is any higher quality version of this image
can't find anything other than this which has maybe 5 extra pixels
now dance fucker dance man he never had a chance
I think one of Gideon's funniest moments is when she learns that Pal and Dulcie have a Thing and she's so distraught about it because she feels like a complete homewrecker. Like she just made one of her first ever friends, this weird little man whom she diagnosed as Bitchless upon first sight, and then she learns he actually does have A Single Bitch but it's the woman she's been flirting with nonstop since she got there. So naturally her reaction is to start mourning for him because literally, how was her new bestie The Most Bitchless Man Alive ever supposed to compete with her
I have seen everyone’s posts about which Dropout comedians would be good on Taskmaster and have now also seen enough Dropout shows to have arrived at the Most Correct Take
obviously, OBVIOUSLY, the Dropout comedian who would be most compelling on Taskmaster is Grant Anthony O’Brien
do I think he would be best at or even particularly unusual in how he completed the tasks? I do not
do I want to see what happens to Greg Davies when he has to spend 5 days with a horny bisexual libertine who is—and this is important—two inches taller than him?
good god, yes
I want it so much
op you're so right about this. the height gag is compelling (one forgets just how tall Grant is sometimes) and Grant's comedy persona is just anxious enough that I think it would make for really excellent "I panicked" timed task moments
but the thing I would be most excited to see is the lateral thinking. it would reach echelons previously undiscovered. we're talking about a man who, when the concept of being a bachelor contestant was sprung on him, took his boss aside and successfully argued for a polyamory endgame. show me a guy who got to bring two hotties on an all expense paid vacation instead of one and I'll show you a man who would be pure tasking gold
Some Camilla-moments I found on my Nona-reread that made me want to eat glass…
do any of you even enjoy reading or watching fiction at all? if i wanted the plot with virtually nothing else i would read the wikipedia page
meanwhile I, Redwallpilled since childhood,
nona the ninth is a fucking roller coaster from start to finish. it's the third book in a series and it starts with three returning characters who were barely in book 2 and everyone else is new. It follows a gravity falls arc in tone, ie it starts as a slightly weird slice of life story and by the end they're fighting ancient eldritch abominations from actual hell, and not a moment in that transition feels out of place or jarring. our first impression of the main character is the list of people she wants at her birthday party and the first five names on the list are dogs. our last impression of her is some of the most heartbreaking dialogue ever written.
I quote this and laugh to myself very, very often.
I can't believe it took me this long to post these I finished this like nine months ago
An idea I had for Blood of Eden propaganda/recruitment posters featuring some of our favorite guys - combo of digital-print cyberpunk graphic design style with oldschool Saturday Morning Post covers like you'd see Leyendecker paintings on
I was gonna post these ahead of tabling at a small con and selling prints of them but ended up not tabling because turns out grad school is hard
maybe next year... figured tumblr would like though
N....noner....
i think we need copyright reform. currently most works are protected by copyright for the life of the author plus 70 years. here are my two proposals.
18 years. this is enough time for the work to grow to adulthood and begin to care for itself
life of the author + zero years. i like this one because it encourages you to kill people
the locked tomb is so relatable
