5 Facts You Need to Know About High Functioning Anxiety
High functioning anxiety is not actually a recognised diagnosis, however many people suffering with anxiety will connect with the term. It refers to people who have anxiety, but outwardly seem to have everything together, in other words they function ‘normally’. Someone who suffers with high functioning anxiety will appear to be a very successful individual. Leave him alone he is perfect!
Mania isn’t just “a state of elevated mood”.
It’s wanting to share little facts about yourself with strangers.
It’s needing less and less sleep, but wanting rest, because you want your mind to slow down.
It’s deciding to do short, large projects that you aren’t sure you can do but you’ll be damned if you don’t because you have such high standards for yourself.
It’s seeing how much you can do, just to see where your limits are.
It’s looking at food and going “eh, no thank you” when you haven’t eaten a meal in two days.
It’s obsessive, repetitive thoughts that won’t stop and overlap each other and you don’t know which one to listen to.
It’s panic attacks as soon as you wake up because the thoughts won’t stop.
It’s anxiety that takes over your body and confuses you because didn’t you feel good a minute ago?
It’s taking on so much that you collapse under the weight.
It’s not just “elevated mood”.
It’s opening the door to your own personal hell.
“Trauma is a wound. Complex trauma is thousands of wounds inflicted on already existing ones. You’re not weak. You’re made out of wounds. You deserve to retreat. You deserve to rest. Just existing with so many wounds is exhausting and a torture.”

Ravenclaw: Why would they be friends with me?
Ravenclaw: I don’t even want to be friends with me.
Ravenclaw: Problem is, I’m stuck with me.
Slytherin: … Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw’s doing it again!

When the first semester starts, Ravenclaws don’t worry too much about all the work they have to do. But once the second semester starts, they freak out because they’re now behind schedule.
Ravenclaw: It’s a snow day. So there will be no reason for me to get out of bed today.
Gryffindor: Well I just made some coffee.
