If you havenât already noticed, my current hyperfixation is Jason Todd, but Iâm totally down to writing for other characters that I like
So for now, hereâs the master list that will *eventually* contain more than just Red Hood content đ

Hey ma
Cinnamonâs ask âșïžđ€
Not what you think
Back to the Future
Iâm always looking for inspiration, and I just love interacting with Tumblr peeps in general, so if you have a prompt idea or suggestion, my asks are open
Thanks for stopping by! Enjoyyyyyy đ«¶đ«¶đ«¶đ«¶
So I didnât expect Back to the Future to blow up the way that it did and I really want to make a good sequel for you all, so Iâm sorry for taking my time sending it out.
Iâm trying really hard to get my brain juices to not make something corny or underwhelming, but I really really really appreciate you all for supporting the story.
I saw that someone wanted to be tagged in it, and I most certainly will (as soon as I figure out how to) so if you also want to be tagged in it, maybe let me know in the comments or dms?
Ok, anyway, a thousand forehead kisses to everyone đ«¶đ«¶đ«¶đ«¶
I've seen a lot of ff writers apologize for their fic being "self-indulgent" which baffles me cause like is that not the entire concept of fanfiction?????
SAY IT WITH ME FOLKS, "FANFICTION IS SUPPOSED TO BE SELF-INDULGENT"
i donât know how to explain to normal people that iâm madly in love and feel an actual emotional bond with a fictional character without sounding like i should be locked in a psych ward.
so fucking humbling to be like âno I like that character a normal amountâ and then you can literally feel your heart rate spike at a mention of them like a dog that just heard the word âtreatâ
You meet you and Jasonâs son from the future. The catch? You arenât dating
So I was scrolling through my feed yesterday, as one does, and I came across this fic and pretty much spent my whole morning frantically putting this together. I thought the idea was so cute and although I donât know much about the game, the author did a great job with their fic so definitely give it a read if youâre interested!
4.5k words cw: cursing, mild violence, mentions of blood, attempted SA (nothing happens, I promise), annnnd I think thatâs it.
Love youuuu! Enjoyyyyy đ«¶đ«¶đ«¶đ«¶
You swore youâd take the night off. But it was just too boring in your apartment. And everyone else was on patrol, so you geared up and literally went looking for trouble.
âHelp! Please somebody!â A womanâs scream ripped through the air.
Perfect. A mugger would certainly cure your boredom.
âLet her goâ you say as you step into the alley. The woman sobbed, her dress was torn.
âPlease.. help meâ the alley was dim, but you could tell the man had a crazed look in his eyes.
âUnless you wanna be next, Iâd suggest moving alongâ you laughed.
âYeah, no. I donât think soâ you approached them and the man was gripping her by her shoulders. âHow about this. You let her go and have me instead?â
You watched as the man thought it over. He was dirty but not homeless dirty. And he was sweating profusely, like it wasnât a cold, Gotham winter night. So heâs probably high.
âFineâŠâ he lets the woman go, throwing her on the ground.
âGo, runâ you order and she doesn't need to be told twice. The man didnât wait for her to go to start unbuckling his belt.
âBend over, bitch..â he goes to grab your wrist, but you knee him in the gut and he doubles over.
âYou firstâ he coughs and sputters, gasping for air.
âYouâll pay for that!â He stands up and swings at you, but you easily evade it.
âNo. I donât think I willâ you taunt him. And admittedly, you shouldnât have been playing with your food. You shouldâve wrapped it up quickly like you always do and onto the next. But you were soooo bored and you didnât realize that he grabbed a jagged piece of glass from the ground. He lunges forward and sticks you with it.
âOw! Fuck!!â You cry out, jumping back. Your phone flies out of your pocket and not only does it smack the ground, but the perv stomps on it hard. This was bad, you felt the blood gushing out.
âLooks like I got you nowâ he reaches for you.
âWanna try that again?â A deep, almost familiar voice interjects. You both look up and the perv gets cracked across the face with what looks like a metal pipe.
You scramble back quickly, but the pain starts shooting even more up your side.
âFuck..â you hiss. The stranger turns to attend you.
âYou kiss your boyfriend with that mouth?â You let out a dry laugh.
âNo boyfriend. And donât plan on having one any time soon, buddy. So look somewhere else if you were hoping for a damsel in distressâ you lean back on the brick wall behind you. This could go south quick, for all you know you traded one scum bag for a bigger, clearly younger one.
He checks his watch. âWhat? The year is right⊠you should have a boyfriend by now..â
You raise a brow. âUh.. sorry?â You wince again as another wave of pain washes over your body. You had to get out of here and get some medical attention.
âOh fuck, that isnât until the end of the year. Fuck! He sent me to the wrong time! I have to spend a whole fucking year here??!!â The stranger yells out and you basically start planning your funeral. Clearly this guy is an escaped Arkham patient.
âUh⊠look, uh⊠chum. I see that youâreâŠ. In distress, but Iâm kinda bleeding out here, soâŠâ
âShit, sorry. Let me help youâ he kneels in front of you and you lean back further into the wall. Now that you could see him better, you saw that he had a helmet on and an aged leather jacket with some sort of black and red suit underneath. His helmet was black, but it resembled Jasonâs old helmet design.
âHow do I know youâre not gonna, I dunno, take advantage of me or something?â He makes a small gagging noise.
âGross. Trust me, you have nothing to worry aboutâ
âMaybe heâs gay?â You think to yourself.
âCan I check? My helmet can run an analysis on whatâs wrong and how to help youâ you furrow your brows. Thatâs a new one.
âFine⊠but I swear if you try anything Iâll cut you open, tooâ the stranger chuckles. If you didnât physically see the man in front of you, you wouldâve swore it was Jason who chuckled. Hell, maybe it was Jason in a new suit pretending to be someone else.
âYou.. donât happen to have an association with Red Hood by chanceâ you asked as you peeled back your shirt. His head was tilted down, looking at the wound, you guessed he was running the analysis.
âUh.. you could say thatâ
âIâm just spit balling here, but is it some sort of familial association?â He looks up after a few seconds.
âSomething like that. Youâre losing blood because of where you got knicked, but youâre fine, you just need stitchesâ you sag a little, relieved.
âYouâre sure I wonât bleed out? I never really imagined random Gotham alley would be where I diedâ
âTrust me. You wonât die. But youâre gonna have a pretty sick scar. And some explaining to do in the futureâ huh?
âUh..â
âDoes anyone know youâre out here?â
âAt the moment⊠noâ the stranger tilts his head at you, â⊠but I know a guy who can help! I just.. need my phone..â you feel for it and you remembered that the pervert smashed it to bits. âShit, itâs brokenâ you point at where it was smashed and the stranger goes over to pick it up.
âHoly ancient technologyâŠâ he examines it.
âThatâs the most recent model..â you huffed.
âRightâ he just tossed it and at this point you could care less.
âLook dude. You said Iâm gonna live, so thanks for the analysis. You can be on your way. And Iâd get out of Gotham if I were you, we donât need another vigilanteâ
âOh, Iâm not a vigilanteâ
âBut the helmet andâŠâ
âDonât worry about that. Maybe the bastard can fast forward me to end of the year so I can get this over withâŠâ he mutters to himself. You decided that it would take too much energy to decipher what the fuck this guy was saying. And if he did have any association with Jason, then it was all mad manâs ravings anyway.
âStep away from her. Now.â thereâs a click and you see a gun pointed at the stranger. It was Jason.
âRed?â You called out as you watched the stranger stand up slowly.
âYou good?â He asks, not lowering his gun.
âShe will be-â the stranger answered. He didnât seem worried about the gun at all.
âDid I fucking ask you?â The stranger chuckles again.
âNice to meet you too, old manâ you looked between the men and decided to get between the dick measuring contest before it got violent.
âIâm fine, Hood. Just need to get patched upâ you made an attempt to stand up. Both the stranger and Jason rushed to help you.
âI got youâ the stranger carefully holds one arm and Jason holds the other.
âYou can back the fuck upâ
âOr you could help me help her up instead of fucking arguing with me. Clearly Iâm trying to help herâ they get you up on your feet.
âHe beat the perp up and made sure I wasnât gonna die. Heâs coolâ you assured Jason but you knew that wasnât enough for him.
âYouâre not allowed to go anywhere until we figure out who you are and what youâre doing in Gotham. If you run, Iâll track you down and you wonât have her here to shield you from the ass beating Iâll give youâ you swat Jasonâs chest.
âHe means thank youâ you start to say when your assailant groans. You all look at him and Jason reaches for his gun.
âI got it, popsâ the stranger pulls a little coin like object out of his belt and tosses it on the man. It creates an electric net around him and he screams in pain when the stranger sends a strong voltage through his system.
âFancy tech you got there..â Jason comments.
âActually itâs some old gadgets we fixed up for this mission. Some of the other stuff wouldnât have made the trip. Actually, I think I have something thatâll help mo- I mean.. her outâ he looks in his belt and takes out a small roll of tape.
âTape?â
âNot just any tape. Can I?â You were sweating and tired, you didnât care as long as you got better.
âGo for itâ Jason watches carefully as the stranger rips a piece as long as your wound.
âCan you lift your shirt up again?â
âWhoa whoa..â Jason puts his arm in front of you, âwhat does it do?â
âItâs health tape⊠Itâll close the wound up and speed up the healing processâ he says it like it was obvious.
âSure. And Tim Drake is straight. How do I know youâre not gonna hurt her even more?â The stranger looks at you.
âAnd you said you didnât have a boyfriend?â You pushed Jasonâs arm down and lifted your shirt up to reveal the wound.
âI donât. Put the damn tape on, pleaseâ Jason reluctantly stepped aside and the stranger didnât even bother to wipe the blood away. He just smoothed the tape on and like magic, it absorbed into your skin. The wound closed and the blood in that area crusted over.
âWhoa..â Jason says quietly in awe.
âAmazing..â you tentatively touched where the wound was and sure enough it felt like it was normal. Except the stranger was right, you had a faint jagged scar. âWhere did you get this from? This could save so many livesâ
âTechnically itâs not out yet. But I donât think the timeline will get too messed up if I leave a roll with pops hereâ
âTimeline?â
âPops?â
âUh- well, it was nice meeting you both. Good luck⊠well I guess I donât need to wish you good luck since Iâm here..â you and Jason both look at him confused.
âWait, you said you were associated with Red Hood?â
âHe is?â
âOn the most.. fundamental level. Yknow?â
âIâve never seen you before in my life. Matter of fact, since sheâs good now where did you come from? And is that my helmet?â So you werenât imagining the helmet design.
âTechnically, no. Itâs just modeled after yoursâ you snorted.
âLooks like you have a fan, Hoodâ
âIt was actually your idea..â
âHow?â The stranger stiffens.
âUh. Not important. Anyway.. gotta runâ
âAh ah ah ah-â Jason lifts his gun up, âyouâre not going anywhere. Take the helmet offâ
âThatâs not a good ideaâ
âI said take the fucking helmet offâ
âNo, I meant with the gun. Guns kill people, you knowâ he didnât seem at all phased by the gun pointed at his chest.
âYeah..thatâs why Iâm pointing one at you. Take the fucking helmet off, now.â
âLook. Iâm like⊠really insecure about my face. So maybe I shouldnâtâ Jason points the gun up in the air and lets out a warning shot.
âIf I have to say it again, the next bullet will be inside of youâ you want to step between them.
âHood, thatâs not necessaryâ
âNo, no. Itâs ok. I can make this workâ the strangerâs helmet hisses slightly as he takes it off. Your eyes widen as youâre met with essentially a carbon copy of Jason. He takes his helmet off and gets in close. Now that you look back and forth at them, theyâre about the same height, too. The stranger might be a smidge taller, but it was hard to tell with his curls- which happen to be the same color as your hair. And his eyesâŠthey were the same as yours.
âThe fuck?â Jason is still examining his face. âWho are you?â
âIâm Jamison. But you can call me Jamieâ
âJamie?â He rocks back on his heels
âYepâ
âDo you have a last name.. Jamie?â
âSo funny story about that, I could just make one up, but considering I donât want to be stuck in the medieval times for an entire year, Iâm going to tell you but you have to promise not to freak outâ
âYouâre really testing my patience hereâ
âOk ok. Itâs Toddâ
âTodd?â
âYep. Jamison Peter Todd. Iâm your son⊠from the futureâ you and Jason were dumbfounded. I mean, he looks like Jason. But you and Jason werenât even a couple. Maybe, maybe you flirted a little, but you've never gone on a date, hooked up, kissed, nothing. Sure he was cute but he was just Jason⊠co-worker at worst, cordial friend at best.
âAlright, now youâre fucking with meâ Jason pushes the gun against Jamieâs chest. âWho the fuck are you, where the fuck did you come from, and why the fuck are you in Gothamâ
Jamie doesnât flinch. âJamie Todd. The future. To make sure you get together so I can get my sister back and keep the family togetherâ
What? Youâre back to your original line of thinking of this guy being an Arkham escapee. You made a face and looked and Jason and back at your âsonâ. âA kid with Jason? This Jason? Weâre not even a thingâŠâ
âRight. And me? Having a kid? No wayâ
âYou had two actually. Iâm the youngest and I have an older sister named Jessicaâ
âSist- ok, look. This was fun and all, but we need to get you checked out, seriously. Me and Jason would never get together and much less have kidsâ
âI mean. I wouldnât say we would never get togetherâŠâ Jason mutters. You look back at him.
âSeriously?â
âIâm not saying we are. But Iâm also not saying I would be opposedâ
âNice, dad. Real smooth. Clearly I got my flirting skills from momâ
âOh my god, you both need to get admitted into Arkham. Look, Iâm not your mom. And Jason isnât your dad. Are you sure you didnât hit your head or something? I think we can arrange a CT scan for you, right Jason?â He was weirdly quiet. You saw that he was studying Jamie. âHello?â
âHow can you prove youâre from the future?â
âWeâd have to ask Grandpa Bruce what would be safe enough so I donât endanger the timelineâ
You scoffed, âGrandpa Bruce? We cannot keep entertaining thisâ
âI think we should at least hear him out. Let Bruce and Alfred clear himâ
âThis is ridiculous!â
âLook, mom, how about I tell you something about your past that no one knows. Would that at least enough to get me âchecked outâ by Grandpa Bruce and Great Grandfather Alfred?â
âStop it with the names. ButâŠâ. You sighed, âfineâŠâ
He walked you a few feet away so Jason couldnât hear, âyou and dad always read books to us but your first love was always music. You used to take me and Jessie to local concerts when dad was out on missionsâ you gave him an incredulous look.
âAnyone could say thatâ
âCould anyone say that the first tattoo you got wasnât based on a book like you told dad that it was?â Your eyes widened. The aforementioned tattoo seemed to burn where it was on your body, like it knew it was being acknowledged. It was fresh though, no one knew what it was and that it was based on your favorite song from your favorite artist.
âSo I lie about my tattoo and I guess I have kids with Jason in the future?â You say, the words feeling foreign on your tongue. It wasnât that you were opposed to having a family, you just never thought youâd live long enough to have one. Or find the right person for that matter.
âAs I live and breathe. Dad seems to stay the same though. He gets really over protective of Jessie but you soften his edges a lotâ you bark out a laugh as you turn and nod at Jason and the party finally leaves that damn alley, perp dragged on the ground by Jamie.
âMe soften his edges? Be for realâ
âRight. Like my edges need softeningâŠâ
âIâm most surprised by you, mom. Youâre a bad assâ Jason rode his bike here, there was a nicer bike in front of it, presumably Jamieâs, and you travelled on foot, meaning you had to ride with one of them.
âLook, Iâll hear you out until we get you checked out by Bruce and Alfred, but stop calling me mom, itâs weirdâ
âWhatâs weird was him healing you with that magic tape thingy. Him calling you mom is cuteâ you shoot Jason a look, âin like..an endearing way!â
âWhatâs weird is how trusting you areâ you look at the bikes. âI can ride with Jamieâ
âFuck no. You ride with meâ Jasonâs demeanor changes quickly.
âHow else are we gonna make sure he makes it to the manor?â
âI know the wayâ
âNo sheâs right. Somehow Iâm more open minded about this than her, but I still want to keep an eye on youâ
âAnd what about the perp?â
âWe can just leave him here. Police are on their wayâ Jamie puts his helmet on and looks at his watch and you assume thereâs more information in his helmet.
âSo how are we gonna do this then?â
You pull into the manor first. Jamieâs bike was leagues faster than Jasonâs and you had a blast riding ahead. You giggle when you see them pull up, both barely fitting on.
âKeep your helmet on for nowâ Jason instructs and you all walk in. Jamie seemed comfortable, like he recognized the environment.
Since everyone was on patrol, Alfred was in the cave, monitoring the computer. A beeping sound got louder and started beeping faster as you approached him. He looks back.
âStay right where you are!â You all freeze. âMaster Bruce, I think you need to come back to manor, immediately. The anomaly is hereâ Anomaly?
âI figured I wouldnât be under the radar for longâŠâ Jamie sighs. âItâs ok, Great Grandfather. The weather is nice outside-â
You looked at him confused. It most certainly was not. But that seemed to have let Alfredâs guard down.
âYes. Only if youâre a touristâ he approaches and looks between your party. You look around.
âWait, what did I miss?â
âSpy speakâ Jason comments.
âGreat grandfather taught us so we knew how to identify each other. Oh man, so cool that I got to use itâ
âIâm sorry, sir, but did you say Great Grandfather?â Alfredâs face had its usually stoic affect, but you could hear his curiousness in his voice. Jamie takes his helmet off.
âYep. Iâm Jamie Todd, their sonâ he grabs you and Jason on either side of him and pulls you in a side hug. Youâre squished against him but pull away quickly.
âSo he says. Can you check him out, Alfred? He mustâve had some sort of head injury that makes him think heâs from the futureâ
âIf our intel is correct, then he might be telling the truth, Missâ he leads you to the computer and the beeping continues to grow and you see on the screen a small red dot going crazy right where the manor is.
âMaster Bruce has been alerted to an abnormally large surge of energy yesterday night and has been tracking the anomaly ever since. He discovered it must of been some sentient form considering how it moved but surely we wouldnât have expected it to show up at our front door like thisâ
You looked between the men. Maybe they were all crazy.
âThere is no way he came from the future! Can you just.. scan him. Please?â
âNo need. Look mom..â he goes up to the computer and maneuvers through it with ease, âsheesh you need some serious upgradesâŠâ he mutters. Then he grabs a vial and sticks it on his arm. Crimson liquid fills the vial.
âWhat are you doing?!â You gasp, but he continues.
âGive it a few minutes and-â the computer beeps. The screen displays a 100% paternity match with Jason. âThat was quickâŠâ
âOur technology isnât that outdatedâ Alfred says with an heir of smugness.
âSee? Heâs my father. And if we run your blood, itâll show that you areâŠâ
âYour motherâŠâ you mumble, looking at the results. Maybe you should do a test just to be sure, but something tells you that thereâs no point. He is your son.
You and Jasonâs sonâŠ
The door to the cave opens and you hear the steady hum of the bat car as it comes in. The door flies open and Bruce jumps out.
âWhat is-â the words died on his lips as he looks at the screen. âWhat am I looking at?â
âThe anomaly is your grandson from the future, Master Bruceâ Alfred states calmly. He certainly processed this quickly.
âGrandson?â Jamie steps closer to Bruce. Bruceâs eyes widen as he sees the resemblance between him and his second son.
âHey grampsâ Bruce looks at Jason and then back at Jamie.
âOk..â
âOk?â You interject. âHow is everyone just ok with this?â
âMy best friend is an alien and my coworkers are super humans. Nothing surprises me anymoreâ Jamie smiles and hugs Bruce, who was caught off guard at first but hugs him back.
âGrandpa, I know me being here is messing the timeline enough as it is, but what are my limits for what I can and canât share?â
âUhâŠâ Bruce takes his cowl off and walks towards the computer, âno preventable future events like deaths. As much as we want to save people, we canât disrupt fixed moments in timeâ
âDeath is a fixed moment in time?â You ask curiously.
âEveryone dies. It's the one thing thatâs certainâ Jason speaks up.
âEverything else is free game?â
âPretty muchâ
âI can work with that-â he turns to you and Jason. âMom, when the time comes, youâre going to have to give dad an ultimatum. Dad, when the time comes and mom gives you the ultimatum, you have to choose momâ you both stand there awkwardly.
âI donât understand Jamie..why would I be giving Jason an ultimatum? And why is that important?â
âI canât answer the first one, but I can say that itâs important because if you donât have Jessie, then none of our other cousins and friends will be born. You both literally start the next generation of the familyâ
The air is thick with tension. Jason rubs his temples.
âThatâs, uh⊠a lot of pressure to put on two people, donât you think?â
âI know it doesnât seem likely right now because youâre not together, but trust me. Ideally I wouldâve been transported to when you were already together, but believe it or not, but time travel isnât still isnât an exact science, even in the futureâ
âOk. Sure. But why did you of all people come? You said you wanted to get your sister back?â You decided that you might as well go along with it since everyone else was.
âHonestly? Because youâre the reasonable one and I was always able to get through to you. Something about reminding you of my father and our wicked good looks and irresistible charmâ you rolled your eyes, but youâd be lying if you didnât feel your resolve faltering a little bit. Maybe it was cause it really was your kid and some hidden part inside of you was responding to that. âAnd Jessie wouldâve come if she wasnât actively being erased from space and timeâ
You watched your sonâs (still canât believe youâre saying that by the way) face fall.
âWhat do you mean?â Bruce asks. Youâd forgotten that he and Alfred were still here. Bruceâs eyes looked a little red, like maybe heâd shed a tear or two when you werenât looking.
âI mean something caused you to break up and now Jessie is starting to disappear. If we donât get you back together, we all probably willâ he grabs your shoulder, âmom, I donât want Jessie to die. I donât want to die. You have to help usâ you stated wide eyed at him as he hugs you and as hesitant as you are, you can tell that heâs still just a kid, so you hug him back.
âOk, ok. Itâs ok⊠weâre going to help youâŠâ you rub his back and look at Jason who puts his hands up like he doesnât know what to do. The bat computer starts beeping loudly, like it did when it was tracking Jamie.
âWhat could that be?â Everyone rushes as Bruce takes a seat.
âSame energy signatures as yesterday. Jamie, is someone tracking you?â
âYeah. The Titan tower is monitoring me. Thatâs where I left fromâ
âLooks like theyâre trying to make contactâ a bright light fills the bat cave and you all turn around. A portal opens and you see an unfamiliar face.
âJamie. We got the time wrong but whatever you did worked. Jessie is rematerializingâ Jamie goes to the portal and looks inside. You arch your neck to see a pretty young woman sitting on a table in the background with Jasonâs curls and eyes, but your facial structure. âYou can come back nowâ
Jamie looks back at the group. âIf it counts for anything, we grew up really happy. We kept being heroes because we wanted to be like youâ your breath hitched and he stepped into the portal. The light brightens again, making the cave dim when it dissipates.
âI guess thatâs it thenâŠâ you say quietly
âI guess soâ Jason responds. You havenât the faintest idea where to go from here.
âHonestly, Iâm just relieved that you two are alive in the futureâ Bruce comments then swings around to face the computer in his chair.
âAgreedâ Alfred turns on his heel to attend to something else in the manor.
âSo thatâs it? Everyone just goes back to normal?â You look around. Itâs suddenly quiet, minus the beeps and clacks of the computer.
âPretty muchâ Bruce says without looking back.
âFor what itâs worth, Iâd actually planned on..maybe us doing like an outing of some sort. Like- as friends⊠you know? Before all of thisâ Jason hadnât really moved from his spot.
âThat was painful..â Bruce mumbles. And you want to dig yourself in a hole and stay there.
âLook.. Jason. Clearly we end up having a kid together, which is cool and all, so donât try to force it. Ok? Otherwise he wonât come back at all because he would have disappeared as well too, got it?â
âYep.. yeah. Got itâŠâ
You just shake your head and head for the elevator.
âHe was right about one thing thoughâ you called back as you hit the button and it dings. Jason doesnât bother to follow you.
Jason Todd, who calls you 'ma' and 'sweetheart' like they're your actual names.
Jason Todd, who may or may not fantasize about keeping you in bed forever, with an arm wrapped around your waist and the other settled on your warm chest.
Jason Todd, who loves, loves, loves to place his head on your chest, much like a kitten in need of the sunlight's warmth.
Jason Todd, who thinks you're too good for him but would, without a hint of hesitation, kill and die for you. "Trauma?" Who's that? As long as it's for you, there're no odds he can't face.
Jason Todd, who likes to kiss you all over because everything about you is just so precious to him: your tummy, your forehead, your nose, the tip of your fingers, your thighsâ you name it.
Jason Todd, who instantly becomes a professional chef the moment you ask him to cook for you. He doesn't even need that, actually: if he sees that you need it, then you're getting the greatest meal you've ever tried.
Jason Todd, who would rather you stay out of his dangerous life. However, if you are already involved, then he will go to whatever lengths necessary to keep you safe.
Jason Todd, who puts your well-being above everything else.
Jason Todd, who adores watching you. Just seeing you be, doing whatever it is you're doing, makes him a lovesick fool. You could be brushing your teeth with a zombie-like face after only two hours of sleep, and he will still come behind you, take you into his arms, and murmur how much you mean to him.
Jason Todd, who holds you after a nightmare, whispering reassuring words against your temple, rocking you back and forth. Don't want to get touched? That's fine, too: he's making you a hot beverage and making sure to stay awake until you feel well enough to go back to sleep.
Jason Todd, who spots you in a crowd like you're the only one there.
Jason Todd, who is immediately soothed by the sound of your voice.
Jason Todd, who makes sure to tell you at least once a day that he loves you.
Jason Todd, who, even during fights, still gets worried about you. He will not take long to knock on your door or send you a message and express regret, shame, or, at the very least, a willingness to talk things out in the future.
Jason Todd, who hates, with a burning passion, people who cheat on their partners. Like, he doesn't get it: how could you betray someone else's trust to the degree that it may take years of therapy for them to heal? Whenever he gets a little mad thinking about it, he asks for you and leaves a few kisses on your neck, swearing never to do something like that to you, because he's "an asshole, but that much of an asshole".
Jason Todd, who is half-convinced that you'll leave him eventually and has decided not to beg for you to stay and let you go, regardless of how much it makes him want to break down.
Jason Todd, who sometimes gets home and needs a big hug where you'll hold him for longer than usual. Please, don't ask. Or ask, but he'll take a sec to get to the root of the issue. Anyway, just hug him, please.
Jason Todd, who fantasizes about a peaceful world where you and he can live at ease.
Jason found something in your stuff that made him mad. Now you gotta try and explain yourself.
A/n: heyyyyy đ Iâm sorry itâs been a while. Iâm not a huge fan of the misunderstanding trope, but I had a stroke of inspiration and wrote this in a sort of fugue state in the middle of the night, so Iâm hoping it both makes sense and takes me out of my little writing rut.
cw: cursing, mentions of dicks and sex but no smut (I canât write smut for the life of me lol). Also, I usually write for feminine readers and I try to keep their physical descriptions as vague as possible so everyone can enjoy, but I did have to make the reader wear a small for the purpose of the story, so Iâm sorry đ
I really appreciate you all, thank you for the support. Enjoyyyy đ«¶đ«¶đ«¶đ«¶
Itâs no secret that Jasonâs been through a lot in his life.
At this point, everyone and their mom knew his backstory- all the shit heâs had to deal with when he was younger, in the League, when he was a crime lord, with his family, yadda yadda yadda.
A tale as old as fucking time.
What really sucks, at least he thinks so, is that despite it all he still fucking cares.
He canât help it.
Itâs why he keeps coming back to this life. The call to make the world a slightly better place was just too strong.
And he hates how big his heart is. He can shut that shit down if he has to, but he hates to admit that he canât do it for as long as people might think he does.
He blames the books.
He just had to be a fan of romance. Austen, Shakespeare, Brontë, Tolstoy, Lawrence⊠you name it. He liked other genres, but he was a sucker for happy endings.
Especially considering how he never seems to get one.
So when you took a chance on him, as inexperienced as he was outside of one or two girls and his beloved books, it seemed like maybe he had a shot at that happy ending he was hoping for.
At least until a few hours ago.
Heâs long since turned his phone off. You and his siblings had been blowing it up since heâd gone rogue and he just needed a few hours to work his shit out in his head.
âRed Hood. Turn your fucking phone onâ Babsâ voice crackles through the comm in his helmet. He cursed under his breath, he forgot to turn the damn thing off.
âFuck off, Barb. Iâm not in the moodâ
âYouâre the one that ruined my evening as far as Iâm concerned. Iâm doing my part by telling you to stop being so melodramatic and call your girlfriend backâ he didnât respond and she announced her exit with a loud click. He just rolled his eyes and kept driving his bike to God knows where.
He found himself at one of his old safe houses from when he was a crime boss. It was one of the nicer spots, it actually had a comfortable bed and a decent shower, perfect for sulking like heâd planned on doing.
His stomach growled when he stepped out of his shower. He wrapped a towel around his toned waist and hummed softly to himself as he trudged into the kitchen, hoping he had something edible in there. After scarfing down some stale ramen, he finally decided to cut his phone on.
<20 missed calls>
<20 voicemails>
<40 texts>
And that was just from you. His other friends and family also left calls and texts. He felt a little bad because they didnât really need to get dragged in your mess, but they also knew that his natural inclination is to disappear when faced with adversity.
<fine. call me when youâre ready. iâm ready to talk when you are>
He huffed at your last text, half tempted to turn his phone off for the rest of the night. But he groaned and leaned back on the couch.
âFuck it-â he pressed the call button and felt his anxiety crest as he heard it ring. He put it on speaker when it connected.
âJay?â
âYeahâŠâ
âShould I bother asking where you are?â
âNot reallyâ
âAre you at least safe?â He looked around the small living room. It was comfortable and warm. He pulled some sweatpants on before calling you and had a blanket- your blanket- draped across his lap. You would be pleased that he wasnât out on some rooftop beating the shit out of a thug who chose the wrong night to be up to no good.
WaitâŠwhy hadnât he done what he usually did to work shit out? Ugh, yet another way youâve infiltrated his life. He stretched his legs and crossed them over one another on the coffee table in front of him.
âYeahâ
âAre you going to say anything other than one word? Cause Iâd rather us not talk at all if thatâs the caseâ
âYeahâ he knew what he was doing and you sighed. âNot sure why youâre the one annoyed considering youâre the one in the holeâ
âIâm not- you know whatâŠ.â Your patience was wearing thin. You wanted to defend yourself, but he was making it increasingly difficult to do so. âAre you willing to actually listen now?â
He puts his head back on the couch again.
âSure, yeah, whateverâ heâs putting his walls up. Just for protection, and it was making him numb.
âTheyâre mine. It doesnât belong to a guyâ
He huffs out a laugh. âGotta try better than that. Iâm not stupidâ
âOf course not. But-â
âLook. Iâm sorry-â he can feel himself getting choked up, â-Iâm sorry I wasnât enough for you. And I hope the fucker makes you happy.â He wanted to barf. 90% sure it was the old ramen, but telling you to be happy with someone else might also have something to do with it.
âJason, you donât mean that-â
âNo, I think I doâ
âJeez, why are you all so fucking dramatic? Youâre not breaking up with meâ
âPretty sure I amâ
âNo. Youâre notâ
âI could end the call right now. Make it officialâ
âOr you couldâve not called at all and yet here you areâ he was quiet. Maybe he was curious if youâd be crying or begging for him to stay. Instead, you just sound worried and annoyed.
âAnnoyed she got caughtâ the ugly little voice in Jasonâs head thinks. He shifted in his spot.
âJason⊠I need you to give me the benefit of a doubt here. If I was cheating on you, why would I have the guyâs laundry at our apartment?â He felt his anger rising.
âBecause you had him over while I was gone. You couldâve snuck him in while I was on patrol. Or when I was away on a mission. This shit happens to regular people, why wouldnât it happen to us? To me?â
You try your hardest to suppress your sighs. You knew him well enough to know that he wonât hang up until he had a sufficient answer to complete the narrative in his head, but you also knew that he dealt with things by shutting the world out, so you didnât want to push your luck.
âSo thatâs the story youâre going with? I donât get enough from you so I look somewhere else and recklessly bring it to our apartment? The apartment of an active vigilante? Who was raised by the greatest detective in the world?â
Jason ran a hand through his hair. It was frizzy because he didnât have that stuff you put in his hair after a shower. Heâd have to remember to get some for the safe house. âItâs a working theoryâ
âAm I not innocent until proven guilty?â
He lets out a bitter laugh. âI mean the evidence was pretty fucking clearâ
âOr you jumped to conclusions before letting me explain myself! I just barely walked through the door before you threw the underwear at me and bolted. I swear this whole family loves their fucking theatricsâ he didnât bother to respond to your comment.
âI know what I saw-â his voice raised a little as he relived the memory, â-a fucking pair of boxer briefs in my girlfriendâs laundry. And I know they werenât mine.â He felt sick to his stomach again. The blanket on his lap felt like it was physically burning him so he threw it off.
âJason Peter did you even bother to look at them?â
âOf course I fucking did. They were black and, fucking, I donât know⊠fucking small. Full offense to this new guy youâre with, but that shit wouldnât even make it past my thighs. Must have a tiny assâŠand dick. Both. Tiny ass and dickâŠâ
âNice. Real mature-â
âYouâre gonna tell me Iâm wrong? And donât you dare defend another manâs dick because I promise that is not an argument you would winâ
âJesus, there is no other man! There was no dick hole in the boxers, Jason! Itâs girl boxers. They make those now! Itâs why it was small because I wear a fucking small!â
Oh⊠well he hadnât considered that.
âI wear them to sleep. You wouldâve noticed if youâd been home at a decent time. Or at all some nights. But I donât care about that because thatâs your life and itâs what you chose, but I will not stand here and be accused of being unfaithful while youâre out saving the world. You got me fucked up if you think thatâs the kind of person that I am. So if after this you still want to break up, then fine. But youâll do it with the full knowledge that you overreacted and caused a whole scene because you didnât bother to ask me first!â you raised your voice at the end and he winced.
Maybe he had overreacted just a little bit.
To be fair, he just saw the underwear as he was folding your clothes and saw red. Then immediately after youâd walked in and he was on ten so he just left.
So there may be the slightest chance that he didnât fully inspect themâŠ
âHello?â
âI- I donât know what to sayâŠâ
âTell me this, do you still want to break up?â
Of course he didnât. The idea of you being with another person made him want to commit unspeakable acts of violence. He was ready to go on a rampage and then lock himself in for days to cry and grieve. You know.. like any normal person would do.
âNoâ he responded quietly. He grabbed your blanket again, suddenly feeling a little cold.
âOk. Well, how about you take a few days off then come back homeâ
âIâm in the dog house, huh?â
âYeah, kinda⊠Iâm hurt that you think Iâd do that..â
âIn my defense, I was mostly mad at the thought of another man being in our space. You know how sacred that is to meâ
âI know, but this is my integrity weâre talking about. You know Iâm a better person than that and least you shouldâve stuck around for a few seconds longer so I couldâve showed you that they were mineâ
A pang of guilt ran through him. He put the phone down on the couch next to him and folded his arms. ââM sorryâŠâ
âIâm sorry, tooâŠâ you both were silent for a moment. âIâll see you in a few days. Donât go on patrol or do anything stupid, just stay wherever you areâ the corner of his mouth lifted slightly.
âNo promisesâ you rolled your eyes.
âIâm gonna go. Iâll tell everyone we talked, okay?â
âYeah..sureâ
âOk.. love you..â
âLove you too..â he says quietly as you hang up.
He felt like an idiot. And like an actual asshole for running out without an explanation. Now he wanted to go back and pull you into his arms like he originally planned on doing before you got home.
âFuuuuuck, Jayâ he said to himself. He got up and pulled your blanket over his shoulders. He shuffled to the room and faceplanted on the bed, bouncing slightly from his weight.
He mightâve been there for a few hours, a few days, he doesnât know. He figured it would be a good time to go back home when he ran out of stale ramen cups, even though he could stand to shed some fat by starving himself. Youâd been âfattening him upâ heâd affectionately joke when his normally shredded physique got a little soft around the edges from your home cooked meals.
His stomach grumbled when he walked in your apartment. He smelled the food as soon as he opened the door. Hopefully you made enough for the both of you.
âBabe?â He probably hadnât earned the right to call you nicknames yet, but he couldnât help it. You hadnât responded.
He toed his boots off and wandered into the kitchen. You had your headphones on and were attending the food on the stove. He internally shook his head. This is the shit he kept telling you not to do cause just anyone could walk in and do something to you if you werenât vigilant.
âMa. Hey..â he waved his hand slightly to get your attention and you quickly took the headphones off and lowered the heat on the stove.
âYouâre backâŠâ
âYeahâ you put a hand on your hip.
âNot gonna kiss your old lady hello?â
âDid I earn the right to?â
âYou gonna accuse me of cheating on you again?â
âNot unless I have plausible causeâ you rolled your eyes and attended the food once more. This time you moved the pan off the heat and turned the stove off.
âBeing with you is a full-time job of its own. I donât paid enough for this shit.â He knew you were over it because you were joking with him. So he wraps his arms around your shoulders and rests his chin on top of your head.
âI donât have much, but I can pay you with love⊠and good sex.â You sighed.
âYouâre hopelessâ
âIâm sorry, maâŠâ
âI know.â He closed his eyes. The scent of food, combined with holding you in his arms in your apartment made him feel safe and happy. He held you for a few more seconds before you tapped his forearms.
âLetâs eat and then Iâll show you those damn boxers so you can see that they donât belong to someone elseâ
âI dunno. I was gone for a while. You couldâve went out and found some lady boxers to replace the ones I foundâ
âYou know what. Youâre right. I went out and found some lady boxers. And I told the guy Iâm cheating on you with that weâll have to go to his place instead if we wanted to continue our affairâ he reaches over you to dip his finger in your pot and taste whatever you made, delicious. Then he stepped back and got some dishes from the top shelf for you to serve the food.
âHa ha. Very funnyâ
âYou started itâ you were plating the food. âAnd you say you say you pay me with love and sex, but lord knows I havenât been getting any as much lately, so Iâve had to take matters into my own hands.â He takes the plates out of your hands and walks it over to your small dining table.
âSo I was right?â
âOn the money. About the stepping out and his dick and ass size,â You grab some utensils and follow him out of the kitchen. âHeâs not as good as you are, but Iâve been making it work..â
He sets the food down and then grabs you by the waist, pulling you in and kissing you deeply.
âSorry to hear that,â he mumbles quietly while putting his forehead on yours.
âYou gotta trust me, babe..â you say quietly and he looks down.
âI know⊠I do..â
âIâm not going to hide secrets from you. Your life has been hard enough, let this be simple and easy..â you put a hand over his heart and he swears you could feel it racing.
âOkay..â
âOkay⊠letâs eat. I gotta dick appointment in like an hourâ you joke before stepping back and sitting down. He takes a deep breath, everything feels like itâs back to normal again.
He loved and trusted you. The underwear was legit and he felt like an idiot, and apologized a billion times for jumping to conclusions.
Maybe he still had a shot at a happy ending like heâd always hoped for. You were patient and kind with him, even when he fucks up. You grounded him and made him feel safe and appreciated.
But that night he still made sure to fuck your brains out and checked that all the windows and front door were locked juuuust in case.
