material layers are turning out to be janky enough that Oldskooler 2 should wait for version 4.20 (nice) but I’ll start working on the version 2s of things like illustrious in the meanwhile
planning for oldskooler 2 to include tools to "glitch" meshes in aesthetically familiar ways, but with artist-friendly controls and without risking your stability or framerate
few are worthy, to sit on the glitch throne
screenspace to UV space blending lets you do some hybrid 2d/3d effects that look reality breaking
screenspace dithering of the basecolor etc. for easy adventure game looks
fun with masked opacities
flicker effect has a square/sine parameter now so if you’re using it with translucency you can soften the transitions especially on inconsistent framerates. here it is slowed down
probably switching all vfx products to a content pack format
the old demo project format was massively difficulty to maintain, develop, and update, and resulted in a lot of tech support questions. really it was reimplementing editor functionality anyway since you’re going to be previewing your own work when tweaking your vfx settings. So from now on expect just condensed packs of new style material layers expecting to work in a heterogenous ecosystem, which is better for artists wanting to expand on my work anyway
also leaner updates means more actual content in them more often and more dev time to spend on actual game stuff now

building this into Oldskooler 2′s effects from the get go. imagine glitch effects applied with stencils easily to your character models! will have to come up with creative examples. this is also in the plans for illustrious etc.
finally back to work getting Oldskooler 2 ready for the public
