These days, boy and girl groups kept debuting here and there. Each day, each month there are people who have given the opportunity to showcase their talent.
I have been a k-pop fan since 2006 and comparing today’s kpop to 2000′s, there is huge change in music, entertainments, dance steps and most importantly the concepts and performances.
2000′s Era --- where the korean music/pop boosted and made their way into different countries. This is will always be my favorite era, the songs that were produced back then were all catchy and you know when you listen to them you’ll just say “this is kpop” “this is what kpop all about”.
The groups were very dedicated and somehow enjoying the life as an idol. I’ve seen their hardships especially Super Junior, Girls’ Generation, Beast, KARA, SS501, etc. All of them kept the hurts and tiredness inside and whenever I am watching their reality show, performances, i can’t help to ask what has happened today?
Change is inevitable, i know. I just really want to share the things that I have noticed. The first things that I have noticed was the concepts,costumes and performances. I am not pertaining to all groups but there are few groups. It feels like they are selling their own body and to make sales and this isn’t kpop.
Kpop was known as lively, cheerful and synchronized group performances in 2000′s but looking at it now, yes the are some qualities that are present but this somehow isn’t the kpop that conquer the world.
It’s purely my opinion and heads up, i’m a fan 2010′s group but my heart will always be in 2000′s.
