Or, you know, were different people?

I find it hilarious that Voyager established in the pilot that Janeway was engaged and then... never really mentioned it until years later when they made contact with Earth again and found out he'd moved on.
Like, Janeway never mentions her fiance, we end up knowing nothing about him. You think it's going to be a major part of her characterisation and motivation but... nope! Janeway don't have time to think about him, Janeway got nebulas to explore!
++THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The Mutant bears his heresy on the outside, the Traitor hides it in his Soul.++
Traitor Guard squad aligned with the Red Corsairs.
Petitioning GW to release a Tyranid Battleforce that's just Ripper Swarms.
They're just funny lil' guys!
I really feel we dodged a bullet not getting the Star Trek / Doctor Who crossover that Russel T. Davies and Akiva Goldsman were apparently hoping to organize.
Like, I just don't see how it would even work. At best, it'd be the most painful fanwank ever put to film. At worst, it'd be opening the door to more and more poorly thought out events that would just diminish both series.
The man who had once been a Commissar looked around at the motley soldiers assembling around him. Traitors, mercenaries, beastmen, mutants, even xenos.
There was a time when he would have killed them all and not cared if he lived or died afterwards.
A time when he still believed in honor, in duty. When he still believed that the Emperor protects.
It had been a long time since he'd believed in anything. He'd seen what lurks out there in the darkness. He knew that whatever sat upon the throne on distant Terra, it could offer no protection. He knew what became of the dead.
Nothing mattered now except survival. Nothing mattered except avoiding that eternal night. He'd betrayed his uniform, betrayed his comrades, all just to buy a little more life, a little more time. He'd sacrificed all those who had followed him, slaughtered all those who had opposed him. Their faces haunted him in his dreams. The ones he'd lead to their death, the ones he betrayed and sold out to the renegades that now followed him.
Still, those accusing faces were a better sight than what he had seen in the darkness.
“Comm'sar.” A familiar voice broke him out of his reveries. “Time t' fight soon.”
The Ogryn. The last one of his men still with him. Too stupid to realise what they had become, still too honest, too loyal. The last one who still believed he had a plan, that there was some greater purpose to any of it than despair. The last one that still believed there was any nobility to the universe.
He almost flinched, seeing the trusting look in the abhuman's face.
He hoped the time would never come when he'd have to sacrifice the Ogryn too, even as he knew it was only a matter of time.
I love that Spider-Noir's explanation for superpowers is that they're all the result of experiments in splicing human and animal DNA. And Spider-Man has so many animal-themed villains, you think that'd work perfectly.
But they decided instead to use Sandman, Tombstone and Electro as the villains.
Anyway, it's a great series, you should watch it.
I remember when I was younger, anytime I watched a movie where the characters have to kill a scary monster/alien, I always thought the act of killing it was intended to be part of the horror. Like there’s this amazing creature that we’ve never seen before, and maybe under different circumstances we could’ve coexisted with it, but it’s trying to attack you and you have to defend yourself, but by destroying it you also destroy the ability to ever understand it and that’s sad and is supposed to make you feel conflicted.
It was not until well into my adulthood that I realized most people do not have complicated feelings about movies where people have to kill a scary alien monster, nor is that necessarily meant to be part of the narrative (unless it very obviously is). They just want the scary thing to die because it’s scary. I don’t have a real conclusion to this I just started thinking about it for some reason.
My mother always hated Aliens because she didn't like that the queen alien was presented as the bad guy when she was just protecting her own eggs.
I'm sure the Backrooms movie is great anyway, but if you really want to feel unnerved by it, try seeing it in an empty cinema...
Yeah, I didn't sleep well afterwards.
Red Corsair Combat Patrol ready to raid and ruin!
So I just discovered that when someone lists their pronouns as 'She/They', it usually means they're fine with either.
Not, as I had somehow assumed, that they use the former as their object pronoun and the latter as their subject pronoun.
That does make a lot more sense.
Oops, think something went wrong when I assembled my Chaos lord!
One of my favorite details in Alien is that when Ripley goes looking for Jones the cat, not only is he curled up in the pilots chair, but she knows to look there first, implying that that's one of his regular spots to sleep.
Combat Patrol Magazine has finally arrived in Australia, so I figured it was time to start seriously collecting 40K and subscribe.
Presenting Knight-Captain Timur of the Mantis Warriors, and a Tyranid Prime of the Yama Swarm.
The Mantis Warriors are one of my favorite minor chapters - their background as one of the 'renegade' chapters from the Badab War, now seeking redemption, gives them a bit more depth than the usual loyalists. And, as a long-time goblin player, I feel you can't go wrong painting things green!
For the Tyranids, I wanted to create my own little swarm, but after finding a color scheme I liked I discovered I had accidentally recreated Hive Fleet Behemoth's colors. But that's alright, and gives them a little background - it means they're a splinter swarm that survived the defeat of Behemoth, a reminder of one of the greatest threats in recent Imperial history.
Guys, look at my cats. Just look at them.
Oh boy, it's my favorite day of the year, Unfunny People Lie To You Day!
Hey, if you're not watching Deadloch season two, why are you not watching Deadloch season two?
And if it's because you didn't watch Deadloch season one, you should go watch Deadloch season one!
