honestly frodo’s journey is so wild
like, imagine your uncle goes missing after his birthday party, and his old stoner friend from out of town tells you the souvenir he brought back from a vegas trip 80 years ago is actually satan’s mood ring and now zombie assassins are coming to burn down your town unless you and your lawn guy meet up with medieval hozier in a dark gastropub…

“Three hours ago this man was in a battle. Two hours ago we operated on him. He’s got a 50-50 chance. We win some, we lose some. That’s what it’s all about. No promises. No guaranteed survival. No saints in surgical garb. Our willingness, our experience, our technique are not enough. Guns, bombs, and anti-personnel mines have more power to take life than we have to preserve it. Not a very happy ending for a movie. But then no war is a movie.”
Kids are awesome! In moderation.
I’m so excited to have finally finished this comic. I’ve been working on this idea for a while, and expanded it from a shorter comic. Here is the original, and a longer description of why I don’t want kids and why that’s totally okay. Thanks for reading!
P.S. You can also find it in my Etsy shop!
P.P.S.: I created a Patreon page where you can help support my comics and art! Any contribution means a lot and enables me to focus more on my work! Thank you! www.patreon.com/prettyprettyugly
butterflies or moths? vegetables or herbs? sunflowers or wildflowers? crystals or river stones? beetles or bees? rains drops or dew drops? grasses or mosses? cold breeze or warm breeze? farm animals or wild life? ✨🌿
look I don’t want to tell anyone what to do but if you go down that path you will wake up a thousand years later and all your great-grandchildren will be dead
But I get a thousand year nap out of it?
That’s not the intended use Sir
But I get a thousand year nap out of it???
I really wanna try embroidery!!

hozier's already written songs about the earth (work song), air (shrike) and fire (arsonist's lullaby), so now all that's left for him to master all 4 elements is to sing a sea shanty (water)
so now that we have like eight years left to live before climate change becomes irreversible, does anyone wanna get married and run away to a cottage in the middle of nowhere and become entirely self sufficient? that’s starting to sound like a good plan
bard is a combat class which is true bc I’ve never met anyone in marching band that didn’t want to throw down
playing tuba in marching band means you can power walk 2 miles backwards on your toes in 16 minutes whithout bending your knees while carrying a 35lb blunt metal object with your arms held at right angles and blasting every extra gulp of oxygen you can spare without asphyxiating to make sounds loud enough to deafen the dead in an an act of pure unchristian violence, your bard is the party member who will teach you how to kill god by example
Places where reality is a bit altered:
• any target • churches in texas • abandoned 7/11’s • your bedroom at 5 am • hospitals at midnight • warehouses that smell like dust • lighthouses with lights that don’t work anymore • empty parking lots • ponds and lakes in suburban neighborhoods • rooftops in the early morning • inside a dark cabinet
playgrounds at night
rest stops on highways
deep in the mountains
early in the morning wherever it’s just snowed
trails by the highway just out of earshot of traffic
schools during breaks
those little beaches right next to ferry docks
bowling alleys
unfamiliar mcdonalds on long roadtrips
your friends living room once everybody but you is asleep
laundromats at midnight
what the fuck
galeries in art museums that are empty except for you
the lighting section of home depot
stairwells
•hospital waiting rooms •airports from midnight to 7am • bathrooms in small concert venues
I just got the weirdest feeling I swear
OK LISTEN THERE ARE REASONS FOR THIS!!!
A lot of these places are called liminal spaces - which means they are throughways from one space to the next. Places like rest stops, stairwells, trains, parking lots, waiting rooms, airports feel weird when you’re in them because their existence is not about themselves, but the things before and after them. They have no definitive place outside of their relationship to the spaces you are coming from and going to. Reality feels altered here because we’re not really supposed to be in them for a long time for think about them as their own entities, and when we do they seem odd and out of place.
The other spaces feel weird because our brains are hard-wired for context - we like things to belong to a certain place and time and when we experience those things outside of the context our brains have developed for them, our brains are like NOPE SHIT THIS ISN’T RIGHT GET OUT ABORT ABORT. Schools not in session, empty museums, being awake when other people are asleep - all these things and spaces feel weird because our brain is like “I already have a context for this space and this is not it so it must be dangerous.” Our rational understanding can sometimes override that immediate “danger” impulse but we’re still left with a feeling of wariness and unease.
Listen I am very passionate about liminal spaces they are fascinating stuff or perhaps I am merely a nerd.
This is why I work third shift.
In some Irish mythos these are also called “thin places” – places where one world seems to meet another. You also get these places in your life sometimes, often in transitional periods (after a move or just before a divorce or change from school to the working world or even just when construction has changed your automated-don’t-even-think-about-it driving path home). It can also happen in other times, like after a tragedy – basically any time you become hyper aware, almost able to step outside your own life. Both the literal and the figurative thin places can be some of the best settings to seek out and write about because they are uncomfortable and make you think in ways you and the reader normally don’t or even, perhaps, can’t. It’s a reason we cling to death and love and betrayal as settings for our stories, but as you can see, there are infinite liminal spaces to choose from in order to jolt a character into a new or different awareness.

me, crouching infront of a pond full of toads: i hope each and every one of you knows that i would die for you
In July every year we have an event called “ Secret Gardens ” Last year we visited some of the best decorated backyards in the neighborhood and this guy had turned the complete backyard into a pond and gardens. The backyard was about 150 feet wide by 50 feet deep and a pond covered 85% of his lot. This 3 level pond was just beautiful and equipped with a filter hidden behind some bushes. The deep end about 4 feet was at the base of the falls, so I guess he left the fish there for the winter. At least this guy had no lawn to cut !
