I've been inactive for a while and some of my followers might be disappointed that my new post isn't a new fanart.
But this cannot go unnoticed. This concerns everyone who enjoys Japanese anime and culture, regardless of your nationality.
Boku no Hero Academia is a big, successful manga worldwide. And here the author used the victims of Japanese war crimes to name a mad scientist character who does inhuman experiments.
Coincident? Or worse, doesn't matter to you?
Then I think you are too naive.
Japan has never even acknowledged their war crimes during WW2. You think they'll apologize? No. In their mind, they're victims themselves for recieving the nukes in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They don't even care for all the inhuman, imperialistic crimes they did for decades before that.
And i think this incident concerning BNHA shows that Japan didn't, and does not, and will not take responsibility of their crimes.
They don't educate their citizens of their own history. They're just busy trying to hide their mistakes.
And this ignorance is inherited to the next generation, who draws and writes comics without any regard of what they should or shouldn't be doing, and it spreads worldwide.
I've seen foreign anime lovers saying they don't care about the history, they just want to enjoy the comics. You think you're indifferent, but you really are helping Japanese government escape their crimes. You're a bystander ignoring the victims.
So please spread this message as much as you can, make it go viral so that the author of BNHA change the name and formally apologize.
Ignoring the history doesn't make it not true.
This happened. Japanese military Unit 731's inhuman experiments on Maruta happened. People suffered. Other people's suffering can not be lightly used in the context of mass media.
Please, please don't ignore this.
