Yea it's a sport, the selling point is the drama. Do you really want the social media admin for F1 to coddle George when he's in a title fight like actually. Cause let's be honest if the results had been flipped you would not find this as egregious
ofc you’re right, as a george fan i’m going to be more defensive of my driver and i only had this strong as a reaction because he’s my favorite driver, but regardless of the driver an activity like this is still disrespectful. i understand that f1 is entertainment, but that doesn’t mean the people broadcasting the drivers shouldn’t treat them with basic respect, especially since all 22 of the drivers are pursuing their dreams and passion of racing. just because it’s entertainment for US doesn’t negate the fact that the drivers literally dedicate their early life in pursuit of the dream of being the world champion. i don’t expect george to be coddled, media is a necessary part of f1, but there are always lines to be drawn and i’ve seen racers and interviewers and admins clearly respect those lines but this is just not at all respectful
