Toilet Bound Hanako-kun seems to have all of the relationships revolving around the theme of “impossible” in a way.
Note: I’m writing “relationships” in the broad sense. Friendship, romantic, etc. Anyway you want to see it.

Teru & Nene: Started with these two, “impossible” because Teru has been in love with someone else for a long time & Nene is just in love with the idea of falling in love
Hanako & Nene: Dead boy & Soon to be dead girl. “Impossible” because Hanako accepts his death and desires Nene to live which will continue to separate them.
Kou & Mitsuba: Two that could have been friends during life. “Impossible” because their relationship grew after Mitsuba’s death
Kou & “Mitsuba”: “Impossible” because it involves the above & the idea a copy can replace and gain the life of the original
Sakura & Natsuhiko: Tsukasa can only grant the wishes of the dead, thus he’s tied to Sakura because either she is dead or someone dead wanted her alive again. Either way, Natsuhiko and Sakura are not the same. One is alive, the other dead.
Amane & Tsukasa: They’re related by blood and one had murdered the other. Along with the murdered one having sadistic and violent tendencies. That alone makes their relationship “impossible” to achieve happiness.
Akane & Aoi: A duo that never admitted their true feelings until the death of one of them. “Impossible” simply because that mutual feeling was only spoken after Aoi’s death, not during their life.
Teru & Akane & Aoi: Love triangle. “Impossible” because the strong feelings each person here has are only towards one other, not all. (This is the most normal of the ‘impossible’ here LOL)
The idea that none of the romances will work out just seem like the overall theme throughout this series.
