Luxor touchups c. October 1993
by Edseamus
I remember when Luxor was brand new, and now I can see it on a VINTAGE VEGAS blog because I’m an old man.
I was part of the glass company that provided the glass for the Luxor.

My work station
I recently (November of 2016) purchased the Line 6 Helix to go along with my Variax. Although I was happy with my HD500, the Helix is light years ahead in sound and function. In my current work environment, I go through a minimum of 5 different tunings for electric. I also use 3 different tunings for acoustic (simulated by the Variax) which also combines with the magnetic pickups, all with the touch of a footswitch. For a guitar player, this negates the need for bringing along 3-5 guitars and a banjo. dobro ..... You get the picture. I thoroughly enjoy the ability to be able to make such changes at a moments notice, so as to not cause a lag in the continuity of the set/show. I encourage guitar players to at least look into it. The feel of the Helix is amp-like. The Variax approximates different guitars more than adequately. Cheers
Still liking the Pike Creek Bourbon
Added a new tool in the mix. James Tyler Variax. I’m loving this guitar. Being that I’m playing in a versatile country band, I have to change tunings, guitars, etc in an instant. This solves that problem. Using it in conjunction with the Line6 Pod HD500, everything is done with the touch of a foot button. I took it on a flydate recently, because my client needed electric 12 string, drop D Tele, Acoustic and Les Paul sounds. Nailed them. Called them up in an instant. Now I have to think more like a keyboard player. Programming sounds and tunings. Hooray technology. it definitely goes well with Pine Creek Bourbon.

Love seeing my friends handiwork on display.
Daphne got a makeover. Tele Bridge and Neck Pickups. Blend knob. Sounds wacky, but in a good way. #Strat #Tele #eixir strings #Line6 #country #rock

Beautiful
Test time over!
Test phase of strings is complete. They are other way back to the mfr. All in all, I’d have to say they stood up well to the rigors of the time. Average play time on the set was 30 hours per week! Yikes! at the end though they started to sound dull and feel a bit tired.
Great experience though. I hope to do it again for any other mfr out there.
My new favorite gin is The Botanist, if you were to ask.

He will be missed
Day 36. Test almost complete. Some fraying going on, but still playable. Tone is starting to suffer a bit. There is also some loss of vibrancy/playability going on. Still happy.
enjoying a nice Cabernet Sauvignon. Cheers

Um. okay. you could do that, I guess.

Great content concept.
String Test Week #5.
Full test rig. This is what I use on the gig. Super-Strat and Line6 Pod HD500. Run direct Stereo. Great sounds and highly versatile.
Now Back to Strings. No change. Still play great.
Boodles!
Mid 3rd week of trial. Strings are holding up to all the activity. No real tuning issues when using vibrato bar. Deep dives and rises, they still stay in tune. Some slight fraying of coating on the 4th string due to overt funkiness when playing the funky songs. Quite happy so far.
