being a sports fan will have you saying shit like 'oh boy i hope my favorite millionaire's business negotiations go well today!'

england have been stockpiling their excuses for days now hoping they can use them to bolster their little underdog story with how much they've overcome. me personally i hope their penises explode
no offense to the english but i just found out england has only ever won the world cup once.. wtf do you mean “it’s coming home” she doesn’t even know you omg
one of england or argentina guaranteed in the final seriously we need to liquidate fifa
yeah the human condition is to feel extreme positive emotion when seeing athletes win the thing they've worked their entire lives for even if it's not your team. how can you not be moved by the raw facial expressions and how all of them don't know what to do with all the emotions in their bodies..

linda noskova wimbledon champ…. this is five years in the making for me….
i would care more about the world cup if there were less players on the pitch and the pitch was smaller and made of ice adn the players wore skates on their feet and the goal net was way smaller and they all had stiicks and if the ball was a puck and also they could fist fight
I have so much love and respect for women who are honest about their own loneliness but also find the good in it like when audrey hepburn said “I have to be alone very often. I’d be quite happy if I spent from Saturday night until Monday morning alone in my apartment. That’s how I refuel” and when charlotte bronte said “I care for myself. The more solitary, the more friendless, the more unsustained I am, the more I will respect myself” and when jenny slate said “I think I’ve come to terms with the fact that there will always be a ribbon of loneliness running through who I am. But that’s why I want to do comedy, and why I want to connect with people. You can use that ribbon to be a part of a finer tapestry, or you can choke yourself out with it! Your choice!” and when mary oliver said “whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh & exciting - over & over announcing your place in the family of things”
without fail every technological advancement collects women and children as its first victims. it’s inevitable and cyclical and it makes me crazy like are we gonna do anything about it ever
i have yet to hear of any use for meta glasses that isn’t harassing women in the streets and posting it for other men to join like it’s the digital version of a woman being mobbed on the street by a group of creepy men with a desire to violate them and humiliate them
Tennis by Christopher Dunkley, 1998
dual sins: not knowing puck and being annoying about it
The first two rows are all Dundons. Tom's wife, Veruschka Dundon, gets second billing. Then come their five kids: Caden Dundon, Dax Dundon, Drew Dundon, Blake Dundon, and of course, who could forget Tagan Dundon? That's more Dundons than an episode of Law & Order.
There are rules about who gets to be on the Cup. Ownership proposes the engraving, but it must be approved by the Hockey Hall of Fame and the NHL. There is a maximum of 55 names per team, and players must play 45 games to automatically qualify; teams can petition to include players with fewer. Nicolas Deslauriers, who came over in a late-season trade and played seven games, made the cut. Joel Nystrom, who played 38 games for the Canes while splitting his time in the AHL, did not. Possibly Nystrom's space was needed for Tagan Dundon.
That there's any approval process at all is thanks to Edmonton Oilers owner Peter Pocklington, who after winning the title in 1984 had his father Basil's name engraved on the Cup, despite Basil having nothing to do with the team. NHL executives forced the HHOF to institute a damnatio memoriae on Basil Pocklington, covering up his name with a bunch of Xs.
On the dynasty-era Red Wings Cups, there are three rows of Ilitches, but all of Mike Ilitch's seven kids did co-own and work for the organization in one capacity or other. The various Dundon spawn do not work for the Hurricanes, possibly because, among other reasons, one of them is 7 years old.
Panthers owner Vincent Viola put his wife and three sons on the Cup in 2024 and 2025, but at least all four are listed as alternate governors of the team. The Dundon clan are not co-owners or governors, again, probably because they are children.
