It was gym day again! Today we went in the morning and I forgot how much I preferred going earlier rather than later, I am much more focused and more energetic than I am once I've already had a full day of ~stuff. After the gym had some stuff to do and now I'm home I've got a tasty raspberry blueberry and strawberry smoothie! As always selfies are down below, hope you all have fabulous days!
Today was my first day back at the gym in over a year, I managed to convince my mum to join the gym too. Truth be told she's having some of her own health issues and she knows herself that she needs desperately to lose some weight.
I didn't do the workout that I wanted to do because of having company, but mum hasn't ever really been to a gym before and she's scared to be in pain tomorrow, so we went a bit easy, but I still feel like it was a successful trip
After doing about 1hr of exercise and a quick trip into town afterwards I found that on my way home I got a massive leg cramp and I had to stretch when I got home (as assisted by the cats, as you'll see in my pictures below) but I guess that fibro life

At the gym (when it re-opens because COVID is a bitch and the UK is in a lockdown)
I may have been gone for a while, I don't even know how long it was, but I'm back again and I'm now on an NHS "healthier you" prescribed diet thing so I thought it might be a good time to revive my Tumblr, for a little bit of inspiration and motivation (and accountability)
Since I was last here my weight went up to my all time high at 110kg and I've managed to wrangle it down to somewhere around 98kg which is where I am right now but, as the original original post on this blog will attest to, I'm not really satisfied with being this size and I ideally want to be around 60kg (56kg I think is right in the middle of my ideal weight according to the NHS) but for now 60kg is a good place for me to aim towards and I'll work on those last 4kg when I get there

When I joined the gym I was offered a free PT session and I was like hell yeah why not. My god it was the hardest workout I've ever done. And it turned that the trainer is someone I've known for a very long time (since I was 11 or 12) and I think that helped with my confidence

I'm definitely looked forward to going back to the gym and continuing my PT when I can afford to pay for it, because shits expensive and I had some time off sick last month.

So yes, I'll admit, I fell off of the band wagon, and as for my last known weight I'm somewhere around 103kg.
However, I'm not a quitter (not permanently anyway) and I've rejoined a gym and I've got a free PT session today to help me get back into the swing of things. My health is still shitty but I'm sick of feeling bad about my weight (and tbh I don't want to buy more clothes), so I'm gonna do something about it!
Starting next week I'm gonna begin the C25K again, as I enjoyed it last time and I'm determined to get further than I did last time (which was week 4 run 2)

Cause: Not enough light; too much nitrogen
Cure: Give plant more light; reduce fertilizer frequency

Cause: Too much light
Cure: Move plant away from light source, or shade plant with blinds or sheer curtain

Symptom: Mushy stems; lower leaves curl and wilt
Cause: Too much water
Cure: Water only when soil is dry to touch; make sure drain hole is not clogged

Symptom: Leaf tips are brown and leaves wilt
Cause: Not enough water
Cure: Soak pot for 20 minutes in water and let drain; water when soil is dry to touch

Cause: lack of humidity
Cure: Mist leaves, or place pot on tray of moist pebbles

Cure: Move plant to cooler spot in house; be sure plant is not close to heat vent or on top of TV

180312 // Mental hygiene. Here are some tips to keep your mind cleand and positive that helped me a lot.
One thing about chronic illnesses that people really don’t seem to understand is that rest doesn’t make it better, at best it can slow down how bad you feel at that time or help it feel a bit more bearable but it’ll get worse if it wants to whether you’re resting or not
Sometimes you’ll be forced to rest because you can’t do anything else, but that doesn’t mean resting makes it better. When you’re chronically ill, you don’t get better, and rest definitely doesn’t leave you feeling refreshed and full of energy
If your whole body hurts and it’s painful to move then you have to rest but it’s horrible doing that the whole time, I know you’re supposed to rest when you’re sick but actually a lot of spoonies I’ve talked to hate it and would love to be able to be more active but we can’t - the last thing we want to do is spend more time at home in bed on our own
Resting doesn’t make anything better for me, it just helps to stop it being worse - everything can still hurt if I don’t do anything and I’d be happier if I could go out, even if that would hurt much more
Pain
So I mentioned before that I'd update all yalls on how I'm managing my various pains throughout the day, I just needed a couple weeks to make sure
So, for my general pain the doctors have gotten me taking Amitriptyline, which is more for sleep but has the added bonus of helping with long term pain. I would say it is helpful to me but there's no such thing as a miracle cure so I still get pains, but it does help me sleep. I do however get some weird side effects, for like a week I had no appetite and I didn't even feel thirsty which was a bit of a concern for me, but that seems to have passed, so other than that I get normal side effects, dry mouth and some really odd dreams but nothing I can't handle.
For the rest of my pain that appears randomly out of nowhere I've been using tiger balm and actually, it seems to be working pretty well for me. Maybe it's a placebo and the action of touching the sore area is what makes it work but for real, I don't even care. I've always been medication adverse and I find painkillers don't work particularly well for me and I just end up burdened with some bitch of a side effect (aspirin crazies are fun) so I'm just glad it's how it is.
I've also begun to take megnesium supplements along with my vit D so hopefully that might help too but I would need more time to make a judgment on that one!
