FINALLY A POST ON HALSEY’S BIRTH CHART, REJOICE
I’ve mentioned wanting to dissect Halsey’s chart a few times so here it is. I also wanted to use her chart as an example for some predictive techiniques (mainly annual profections so using whole sign system is a must) because she shared her birth time from a birth certificate so we know it’s going to be accurate. I’m going to discuss both her professional and private life (I’ll be mentioning her disorders and pregnancy struggles in the second to last paragraph so skip that if it’s upsetting to you).
Firstly I wanted to say she has one of those charts where you look at it and go “yeah, makes sense” - she has some beautiful stuff going on, the fact that she got recognized and gained fame was innevitable. There’s also a few indicators of annoying obstacles and I’m going to tackle this as well.
Okay the first thing that stands out is, of course, her 1st house stellium. She has both benefics in an applying aspects conjoined, along with Mercury and Pluto here. This is BIG personality. She’s just a lot. Venus gives her charm and beauty (plus, she’s a Libra Sun!), Jupiter gives her an approach that’s bigger-than-life and jovial, Mercury is a lot of scattered energy. It’s funny, I remember someone on twitter thought she’s a Gemini rising and she was outraged by that lol, I was thinking, “don’t be surprised, you have Mercury on your ascendant”. I’m using whole sign here but it’s interesting when people have planets in the same sign their rising but “behind” to the ascendant (so in the 12th using quadrant or equal houses) - a lot of the time these people don’t realize and notice that energy in themselves. But she is very expressive and she has lots of nervous energy, sometimes to the point where it seems as if she had trouble keeping up with her own thooughts when she speaks. And she speaks A LOT. Her live shows is literally her talking for 1/3 of the time, which I love. Look-wise she seems very mercurial as well - she has small and balanced (that’s Venus there working) features and she’s constantly playing with her image; different hairstyles and makeup. She’s also a Scorpio rising, who needs that reinvention from time to time - different persona for each album cycle? You got this.
There may be a few hiccups here and there in the way she’s carring herself or sometimes her making not so best decisions and I think it may be due to having a few planets in their detriment (Venus, Mars, Sun). I think it’s important to point out that her chart ruler, Mars is actually in its fall in Cancer. 9th house, where it sits, is, among other things, associated with religion and spiritual matters. With Mars occupying it, it makes sense that while she grew up in a Christian environment and even was a youth pastor (and Moon can tell us that she was really invested in it), she now claims she doesn’t believe in God. Mars in the 9th rebels against religion but, in her case, especially as the ascendant ruler, uses religious archetypes and symbolism in her art. She certainly believes in something but it’s far from God.
Having a 1st house stellium consisting of mostly friendly planets pretty much grants recognition but it can get tricky. Halsey has her 7th house ruler, Venus in her 1st - this pretty much means she’s finding her identity and measuring her worth based on her relationships. I remember her talking about not knowing who she is and what she likes after breaking up with one of her partners - because she just did things in accordance to him. Libras are known for needing to belong to someone and almost mirroring their significant other. It doesn’t help that her Sun is unaspected - it doesn’t have a foothold or any outlet to express itself or find its own identity. It doesn’t have anything to grasp and hold on to, especially when in the 12th house, where it feels like it doesn’t belong anywhere (this configuration can also point to her mental disorders as well).
On the brighter side, having 2nd house ruler, Jupiter in the 1st house is a blessing. The Venus conjunction helps a ton. She’s making money simply by being, haha. This is turning your name into a brand, which she already started doing even with her makeup line.
Okay but where do we find her talents? I like to look at the 3rd house because I’ve noticed it’s where the seeds of the creativity lie (it’s the house of your thinking and communication after all). Many songwriters (and that’s what she essentially is) have strong 3rd house activity. Hers is in Capricorn with Neptune and Uranus. Makes a lot of sense. I always say Neptune in the 3rd is flowery speech, add Uranus to the mix and it’s even better. She’s hands down one of the best lyricist in pop music right now imho. I know she also writes poetry (and released a poetry book last year! During her 3rd house profection year). 3rd house ruler, Saturn is in the 5th so that’s a great outlet for her creativity. She may be hard on herself, she may have the inner need to prove herself. But at the end of the day that hard work really pays off. And her 5th house ruler, Jupiter is in the 1st with Venus so she knows how to present it and she has a clear artistic vision that she’s very attached to. MC in the creative, spotlight-loving Leo is a perfect addition to the career as a singer and entertainer. Funnily enough, when Jupiter transited her MC, she released her EP; when both Venus and Mars transited her MC, she released her 1st studio record. Keep an eye out for those MC transits, folks.
A few other interesting things I’ve noticed: Halsey’s Moon is in the 9th (foreign things) - her mother is from an Italian descent. Also something I wrote about once, her descendant ruler, Venus is conjunct Jupiter - which also points to having a foreign spouse. I suggested that it looks like her new boyfriend (who is Turkish) is about to stay for longer.
Now onto the less nicer things. I guess most people who are familiar with Halsey, know that she suffers from endometriosis and she used to be unable to have kids. She has stated on many occasions that she really wants to have children (she also released a songs about this called “More”). I’m in no way an expert on medical astrology but there’s a few VERY obvious indicators that tells us about her both wanting kids but having trouble carrying a pregnancy. First we have that Moon in Cancer in the 9th - cancerian types really do need to have someone to take care of, such family people. 9th house can be linked with once in a lifetime wish fullfillment - having a baby is probably that wish. I think it’s interesting that her 5th house ruler, Jupiter, is in her 1st - this, again, can mean she’s strongly tied to the idea of having children. Now why she had troubles: unfortunately she has that Saturn in the 5th - this is known for having issues with getting pregnant or delays in that matter. Her Moon is making an applying aspect to out-of-sect malefic, Mars, which is in its fall BUT it also rules her 6th house of illness. I think the fact that she has so much Scorpio energy is not helpful in that instance - scorpionic health issues are tied to reproductive system. The mitigating factor may be the fact that a) Moon is indeed in its own sign b) 5th house and its ruler are in a water sign - so she was able to conceive (water signs are very fertile and so is Jupiter) but had issues carrying the pregnancy. Saturn making an applyng trine to Mercury might help as well. I think Mercury in the context of health can point to good medical research and problem-solving. Now onto a couple of profections. Halsey was pretty candid about having a miscarriage just before one of her promotional shows in 2015. It was in august so she was still in her 9th house profection year - remember it’s where that Mars/Moon configuration sits in. She did get pregnant but lost it just a few days after her Mars return AND on her Moon return (I know, my jaw dropped when I saw this).
But at last, happy news, fast forward to her current 3rd house profection year - ruled by Saturn in the 5th and she announces she’s pregnant, yay! (My jaw dropped again). And she announced her pregnancy on her Moon return (I kno, I kno, let’s cry together). Remember, especially with Saturn in the day chart, it may bring hardships but eventually it’ll work on more of a productive level. She also has Neptune and Uranus (science and potential medication) in the 3rd opposing her Moon so maybe this configuration actually helped her a bit. Looks like she’s going to have a baby when Jupiter will visit Pisces (her 5th house) for a few weeks. Would be cool if it was a Cancer girl (unless she’ll have it on her Mars return during Gemini season, that’d be jokes).
