As he had expected, he had lost contact with many of the people he had begun to hold dear. So it’s with some trepidation that Gundam walks into the Hanamura diner. All his familiar anxieties are beginning to resurface – in particular, his own social inadequacies. Perhaps the woman wouldn’t even want to see him after having abandoning her for so long. Still, he steels himself to accept whatever this encounter brings. If his visit is rejected, so be it.
“…Greetings.”
It was getting harder and harder each day to get up in the mornings. Harder and harder to get dressed. Harder and harder to eat breakfast, walk into the kitchen, spend the entire day all by herself in her failing restaurant.
It was so hard to do any of this anymore.
Teru wasn’t coming back. She didn’t know where he was, and she didn’t know why, but he was gone. And it hurt. And Souda and Gundam and Togami- she didn’t know where any of them were, but they were gone too.
She was alone.
[When the door opens, Momma doesn’t notice at first, too busy frying an egg. And then when she turns around-- she doesn’t believe it. Not at all.]
[Her voice comes out as a whisper.]
Gundam?
