I thought it'd be interesting to split up these visions along lines of how they're portrayed. Who does Cass imagine supporting her vs. who does she imagine as a confirmation of her self-loathing? Who does she imagine as being kind and who does she imagine as cruel? Discounting direct flashbacks and recounting because they don't really say much in that regard.

Every time I think about Mia's father I want to throw up and/or kill him. She was nine, blue skies above, SHE WAS NINE! She was nine and I KNOW she was strong and beautiful and talented and brilliant and brave just like she would be at seventeen, and she was so LITTLE and she just lost her mother! And the worst thing is that it's realistic. It happens! In real life! David Cain was crazy but I have no reason to fear that someone would kidnap my youngest sister and raise her as a living weapon. But my sister (another sister) is nine, and her favorite book is Anne of Green Gables and she fights with her friends and makes up with them every week and she still has a baby cheeks, and it could happen to her. IT COULD HAPPEN TO HER! And she was his daughter! His daughter, who he gave life to, and he didn't care about her! When she ran away, he didn't look for her. He knew exactly how dangerous the streets could be, he worked on those streets, and he didn't do anything to look for her, the daughter who was only eleven - I HATE HIM so much it's such a realistic kind of evil it makes me sick.
