The raven haired princess kept close to the wall next to her, trying to keep herself grounded between the dangerous thoughts that he was human… or that he saw her. The remains of the stars glittered from her fingertips, sparking soft light onto the cold brickwork. Noticing the gentle glow, she slowly moved one hand in the air and tried to stem back the energy flowing through her; as if it was desperate to jump out. The look of amber fear turned up to the strange Doctor, the hue dying down to a dark gold. A sign that the effects were still there but she was battling through.
“Yes… Such horrible thoughts.” She managed to whisper out, pulling her hand back to try and keep herself together. She did at least feel some understanding with this strange man. He knew that what they were thinking was wrong and the poison in their mind was struggling to take hold. Maybe she was thinking of it wrong. If two of them were close, they could either snap themselves out of it or be strong enough to withstand the brunt of each other’s outburst - something she didn’t want to happen no matter what. “Luma.” The starlit girl spoke up, letting out a nervous breath. “I’m Luma.”
“Luma? Hello, Luma, that’s a lovely name. Now, I know things are really bad here right now; there’s something in the water that’s altering our minds. Am I safe in assuming then, you’re not human? Oh - well, yes, that...the lighty bits, yes, I see that you’re not human, or not a normal human. I’m not human either; we’re in this together, eh?” The Doctor spoke a bit more slowly for this young lady; he could tell that she was frightened, and opted for sensitivity in this case. The light sparking from her fingertips, the fear and uncertainty - who knew what that power was capable of, and while he was deeply curious, there was no chance for him to discover why. He could see her struggling with - something? Her power? Her negative emotions? Both things he could relate to. Gently, he reached out and cupped her jaw with both hands, trying to draw her focus to him. His touch was soft, careful, his hands steady. “Yes. They are horrible thoughts. They’re forcing us to abandon all the things that make us good and kind and considerate. It’s alright to be afraid, but you’re not alone, Luma. I promise you, you’re strong than you know. Take a deep breath, and try to focus on the good. What was a good thing you did before you were trapped here? Come on, I’ll tell you one of mine if you tell me one of yours.”
