Pearls scattered like gunfire on the wet cement. They bounced and rolled, luminous little ghosts vanishing into storm drains.

You stared down at them, unimpressed. “Aw, man. I just bought that. Now I can’t pretend I’m Daisy Buchanan anymore.”

The mugger growled, “Are you serious?”

The voice hit like thunder—deep, familiar, jagged with fury.

From the shadows above, a shape descended. Not just a shape—a myth.

Then you smiled, too brightly for this haunted city. “Hey. Wanna walk me home? If you’re not too busy glowering.”

Batman—Bruce—nodded, slowly, still pale.

You didn’t see the way his fingers curled slightly when he looked at your hand.

You didn’t see the way his eyes followed each broken pearl like a funeral procession.

But you noticed the silence.

“…Do I remind you of someone?” you asked softly, as you walked together out of the alley.

He didn’t answer.

Didn’t need to.

The rain kept falling. But he stayed by your side the whole way home.

Dick: “Bruce? You okay? You look like death warmed over.”

“Optimus, honey?” The wonderful voice of his lover called out to him. Closing the front door behind him, Optimus breathes a sigh of relief. Her soft voice calling out his name plays on repeat in his processor. “Is that you? Could you come and help me for a second?”

He had no idea how he got so lucky, to start a family with who he considers the most beautiful specimen in the known universe. Together, they both created three sparklings, all triplets and it was further proof that either Primus or another deity of life had seen the good that Optimus had done and blessed him with both her and sparklings. The day he found out that she was pregnant with them was the first time in his life that he experienced pure joy, the second time was when she gave birth to his little ones and officially became a sire.

With a soft smile, Optimus follows her voice to the playroom of the quaint house he calls home. He is thankful that mass displacement technology exists, allowing him to comfortably live in the house with his family. He observes from the doorway as his sparklings play with stuffed toys and little building blocks, making an absolute mess of the room. He clears his throat and leans against the doorway with folded servos, “I hope you young ones are going to help your mother with cleaning up.”

Three small heads perk up at the voice of their sire, all of them dropping their toys and bouncing over to him. He kneels down and gives his two sons a strong hug, pecking them both on the heads with kisses.

“Daddy!” The last born of the three calls out to him. Optimus chuckles softly as he opens his arms for her, embracing her close to his chassis. Now Optimus is not the one to pick favourites with his sparklings and loves them all equally, but his only daughter was the first one to hug him whenever he came home. She was also the one who took the most interest in his stories of when he was the great leader of the Autobots, constantly begging for her sire to re-tell them as a bedtime story, with the more graphic details left out. It makes the inner archivist within Optimus swell with pride that at least one of his sparklings has taken a liking to the history of his home planet.

“Hello, my sweetspark.” Optimus nuzzles his faceplate to her nose, enjoying the little giggles that erupted from her. He picks her up and places her on his hip, a servo supporting her under her bottom, “Did you have fun today?”

“Yeah! Look what I do!” His toddler babbles as she points to a large tower made out of the small plastic blocks. It wasn’t very impressive by Cybertronian standards of what sparklings can do, but it doesn’t matter to Optimus, he will gush over anything that his kids build or draw in order to expand their creativity.

“Did you build that?” Optimus smiles at her, “How clever of you, honey.”

She nods eagerly, a big grin on her face, “Mommy helped!”

“Did she?” He looks towards his wife who was kneeled on the floor, stomach swollen with the life of another sparkling. She was sorting out the seemingly endless pile of toys that was thrown about on the floor. Optimus can’t help but admire his wifes devotion to their children, playing with them even when heavily pregnant. The incredible and important job of being a mother is something that Optimus has learned and respected during his time on Earth, especially after witnessing it firsthand.

“I did, now could you help me get up off the floor?” She chuckles, a hand rubbing her pregnant stomach.

Optimus carefully steps over the toys to walk over to her. He offers his servo and she graciously took it, pulling her up off the floor. She huffs a little bit and tries to catch her breath, bent knees trying to brace the weight of her unborn child.

“Thank you, love.” She sighs, lightly tracing the servo that still held onto her hand, “You would think I’d learn from my previous pregnancy to not get on the floor.”

Optimus laughs softly, readjusting his daughter on his hip, “It is probably not the wisest decision.”

She laughs, reminiscing the memory of her stuck on the floor while she was pregnant with the triplets, and he can feel himself falling in love with her all over again. She is absolutely glowing, and Optimus can’t help but bask in her natural beauty. Leaning forward, he presses a chaste kiss to her lips, smiling through it as he hears their sparklings protest as most children do when they see their parent’s smooch, “Yucky, Daddy!”

 He pulls away from the kiss and brushes a servo across the tight skin of her stomach, feeling the little kicks of their soon-to-be newborn. Optimus doesn’t want to jinx anything yet, but he prays to Primus that it is another little girl.

She smiles and places her own hand on top of his, sharing the moment together. But Optimus does not notice that her smile faltered for a second.

“Optimus, you know that this can’t last forever.” His wife whispers quietly so that the sparkling he held can’t hear.

Optimus perks his helm up to look at her, confusion plastered on his face, his gentle caresses on her stomach halting for a moment, “What cannot last forever?”

She reaches a soft hand out to caress his faceplates, a small tear threatening to spill down her flushed cheeks. Despite being incredibly confused at his wife’s turn of behaviour, Optimus felt a need to comfort her and returns the gesture to wipe her own tears away.

“It’s not healthy for you… you need to wake up.”

Taking a step back, digits leave her face as he nearly trips on the carpet. The words that just left your lips made his spark sink to the floor. There was no way that Optimus was dreaming, he refused to believe, not when everything that has happened within the last few months felt so real and genuine. As quick as he felt his spark sink, the cosy home that surrounded his family began to crumble and disappear around him, falling into an endless cold void. The weight of his daughter on his hip was no longer there. The softness of his wife’s hand had disappeared. Optimus was left with nothing but the darkness of his empty mind. And at that point, Optimus felt his own optics lubricate and fall down into the void, the last echoes of his wife reaching his audial receptors.

“Optimus…”

“Optimus.”

“Optimus!”

Optics snap open, scanning the ceiling above him. In an instant, he sits up right on the berth below and vents heavily. He looks around carefully at his environment and realises that he is in his berthroom on the Autobot base, it feels lifeless.

“Hey, hey, take it easy.” A gentle yet firm voice reassures and pushes him back onto the berth, “I heard a distress signal from your internal instruments, is everything alright?”

Optimus recognises Ratchet, but the old bots words are drowned out by his processor running on overdrive. His wife, his sparklings, and his unborn little one are no-where to be found. Frantic optics flicker around every inch of the emptiness of his berthroom, hoping and wishing that they would be waiting just outside the room or hiding somewhere, playing that fun earth game called hide-and-seek that he enjoyed playing with his sparklings.

Ratchet notices the distant look in his friend’s optics and places a servo on his shoulder to try and ground him to the present, “Optimus, you’re fine, it seems as if you have just experienced a nightmare.”

His grip on the berth was hard. That was no nightmare. That was his life, a life that has now been taken away from him as a cruel punishment. All Optimus had ever wanted was right there in his grasp. He didn’t care about his friends, and he didn’t care about the Autobot cause anymore.

He just wants his family back.

“It was not.” Optimus whispers out, vocaliser stuttering. He knew Ratchet wouldn’t understand the monumental loss that he had just suffered, but Optimus could not deal with his old friend at this point in time. Just as Ratchet was about to question him, Optimus lets out a pained sob.

“Please…” He held his helm in his servos as lubricant began leaking from his optics once again, “Just leave me be.”

At most she was the easily forgotten other child of Egeria de Fontaine, the 'Mistress of Many Waters', as mostly everyone paid attention to Focalors, who was already showing great talent and grace despite her young age... nothing like her clumsy, crybaby little sister...

And that worked just fine for Furina!MC! Let her fade into the background, let her be forgotten! She can use it to her advantage when she got old enough to escape out the manor and live on her own!

She wouldn't need to deal with the nonsense and danger of the plot, especially all the 'death flags' potentially waiting for her, just waiting for her to fall into her supposedly destined 'villainess' role...

But until then, Furina!MC just has to sit, wait, and keep her head down until the time came... but too bad, this odd, distant behavior catches her 'sister' and 'mothers' attention.

Both Egeria and Focalors were so used to 'Furina' crying for attention at every chance. From constantly tugging on Egeria's skirts, timidly asking for a hug or kiss or anything, from following Focalors around like a lost duckling, her presence was always there, crying, sad, begging... but then it stops. 'Furina' stops following them around, stops tugging at their skirts, asking timidly for hugs or to play with her... she just stops.

In fact, it felt like she was avoiding them now. She spent more time in her room, in the garden, anywhere people weren't at.

Anywhere Egeria and Focalors weren't at.

The mother and daughter duo... they didn't like it. It felt wrong. It WAS wrong. Why was 'Furina' avoiding them? Why was she spending so much time alone? That wasn't healthy for someone her age to be alone so much-

It was like they forgot all about how THEY themselves had constantly left 'Furina' alone, forgotten, and scorned, but the moment she stopped vying for their attention, neither Egeria or Focalors could stand it.

This leads to Focalors starting to force herself into Furina!MC's room to 'play' with her every day... or hour, dragging all her dolls and dresses so they could dress up and everything. She would hold Furina!MC's hand, refusing to let go even when Furina!MC shakily asks for her to leave-

As for, Egeria, she takes Furina!MC on countless shopping sprees, buying her so many new dresses when was the last time she bought her poor little 'Furina' any new clothes, toys?! and plenty of toys! The mother showers her with affection, carrying her around in her arms, hugging her... and also like Focalors, she turns a deaf ear when her adorable little one asked for space- How had she never not noticed how precious and tiny her 'Furina' was?

And just like that, the two de Fontaine ladies were besotted to hell and back over 'Furina'. So small. So shy, adorable, and precious. So... fragile. No, no! This wouldn't do. 'Furina' was too fragile for this world! It would do no good for her to ever step foot back out the de Fontaine manor ever again!

Because what if she got hurt or killed?! Kidnapped even?! Humans in general could be vile creatures, and 'Furina' was a prime target for people like them!

And poor, poor Furina!MC... this wasn't how things were supposed to go! She was supposed to be forgotten! An after thought to her 'family'. But now? Now she was like a pretty little bird trapped in a birdcage.

A birdcage her own 'mother' and 'sister' created just for her...

What makes things worse... is that this all happen years before the plot of the novel... so, in saying that what do you think will happen when years later, when the plot finally come around, Focalors' original love interest(s) (Neuvillette, Wriothesely, someone else-) makes his first appearance and happens to catch sight of the de Fontaine's hidden jewel, hm?

Another Furina!MC au idea that I had the joy of talking to @platinumrosetail about.

This one being a crossover with Record of Ragnarok.

Pairings: Furina!MC x Hades/Qin/Buddha

Warnings: OCness, cringe, poly relationships (my girl deserves to have a few sexy husbands)

So basically, this would take place in a more angsty Furina!MC situation, where the trial was harsher and she, even though none of it was her fault, was not easily forgiven.

Down on her luck and scorned by everyone, both Neuvillette and Fontaine, she goes to leave... Only to step into a whole new world all together.

A world that faintly felt familiar...

Wait... That woman (Brunhilde) and the young girl (Goll) beside her looks like characters from an old manga she used to read in her last life... What was it called? Record... of Ragnarok?

Then Furina!MC nearly has a full-blown meltdown when she realizes where she is.

What do you mean she was in a manga series now?!

So apparently Brunhilde accidentally summoned her, and of course, asks her to participate in the tournament... Only for Furina!MC to break down into tears.

This leads to all the Valkyrie sisters trying to calm the goddess. One none of them ever seen before in Valhalla, only for Goll to finally calm her enough with a hug.

Side note, Furina!MChas no clue she's fully a goddess now. Basically, when Focalors died, all her power went to Furina!MC. It only truly woke up when she landed in the ROR verse.

This means she's confused as to why they want a 'human' like her to join.

Eventually it's decided due to how clearly stressed and obviously traumatized she was, Furina!MC wouldn't fight.

This leads to the Valkyrie sisters having to explain that yes, she was a goddess, and yes, they were confused as she was because she didn't act like any gods they knew.

With this news, Furina!MC realizes she still had control over the Hydro element. But she felt more stronger now! Was it truly true? Was she a full Goddess now?

The Valkyries try to learn more about the mysterious Goddess, But Furina!MC doesn't say much. Only enough for them to get a picture of her situation, and they grow protective over her.

Hell, she was younger than Goll who was like over 1000 years old! And this 'goddess' was barely 500!

With it decided that Furina!MC would stay out of the all the fighting, Brunhilde decided it was at least a good idea to introduce her to the Einherjars.

It was awkward, to say the least. Furina!MC hid timidly behind Brunhilde as she explains the current situation to the human fighters. Practically Furina!MC presence.

And when Adam hears that she was once human, one of HIS children that was snatched away and forced to be a puppet to some goddess, he was like 'My child-'

Lu Bu scared the hell out of her, but she was still polite, and Lu Bu even gives her a surprise but pleased look when she greeted him in smooth Liyuian, as it was Teyvat's version of Chinese.

Sasaki she had an easier time with. The older man easy presence helped calm her nerves.

Jack took one look at her with his Soul Eye and easily deduced her to be a pure bean and offers her some tea and snacks.

The other fighters easily took to her, despite her being a Goddess.

Leonidas also took one look at her and joined Adam on being her dad, cause this traumatized Goddess needed some protective fathers in her life.

Tesla had to rein in because he nearly overwhelmed her with questions about how she became a goddess and such, which nearly causes her breakdown into tears... again.

And then there was Qin Shi Huang. This man- the moment he was introduced, he flirts with her, getting all in her personal space, and Furina!MC retaliates with a blast of Hydro bubbles and maybe even slaps him with either her hand or her Oceanid fins.

Of course, the Emperor takes this as a challenge, ignoring Adam's and Leonidas looks of warnings as he starts strategizing how to make this pretty Goddess his new Emperess

Now... the Gods. Oh boy...

Hermes would definitely be the first to hear about her, maybe even catching a glimpse of her before Brunhilde hides her, and he tells the Greek Patreon, and it spirals from there.

It's also around this time Buddha makes himself known, and he even gets a chance to talk to the mysterious 'new' water Goddess that popped up.

Maybe he could tell she was like him. A human that became a God, but he could tell there was more to her story...

But he wouldn't push. It wasn't his place, and he just offers some suckers to her, and Furina!MC gives him an adorable look as she thanks him, smiling happily when she tastes her favorite flavor.

An angry Adam immediately chases him off after that. Lol.

But back to the Gods. Word has spread to all the other Pantheons and more wanted to know about this 'Goddess'.

Hermes only makes it worse when he uncovers that apparently, she was a WATER Goddess, meaning Poseidon's attention caught.

But of course, Furina!MC is absolutely terrified of him, knowing his character and shit. So, she tries to avoid him because she isn't 'prefect'. She's broken, too human, and just too shy...

So, she hides on the Einherjar's side, both the human fighters and Valkyrie sisters willingly hiding her.

At this point Ragnarok had been put on hold because Furina!MC's existence was causing such a stir with the Divine.

It gets to the point where just before the first fight, Zeus or another god demands answers from Brunhilde about the mysterious goddess that she's been hiding.

Cue Furina!MC squeaking and hiding behind one of the human fighters in the waiting rooms.

And then somehow, a god or whatever, gets her on camera, and she's shown to the whole Colosseum for the first time since the gods only caught glimpses of her.

With her unique 'Furina' looks, white and blue hair, teardrop eyes of blue, maybe her Oceanid fins were out as well, and dressed in an outfit Brunhilde gave to her, she painted a rather beautiful picture herself.

This quickly catches the attention of both Gods and human males... and not the nice kind of attention.

Then a pissed off Adam steps in front of her, blocking her from view as he ominously starts cracking his knuckles as he stared through the screen.

Angry father activated in response to him sensing perverts vying for his new daughter's attention.

But that doesn't stop the more arrogant of Gods as many start coming over to the human side of the Colosseum to see this new goddess.

Adam is ready to kill a bitch when he hears a God cat calling Furina!MC, the poor Goddess gives them a horrified look as she's pulled away to safety by Goll.

It only gets worse when Poseidon, Hades, and Zeus show up-

Furina!MC's soul actually nearly leaves her body when she hears Poseidon was looking for her, and flat out refused to leave her room while he or any other God was around.

At this point she's hiding permanently with the Valkyries, with Adam and Leonidas as her bodyguards cause all these men can't take no for an answer!

Hades, seeing how his brother was scaring this adorable goddess along with all the other gods who were quite frankly making fools of themselves, he decides that it would be best if HE was the one to talk to her, and on a more friendly setting.

It takes him time and effort to get Brunhilde, Adam, and even all the other human fighters (by the way the fighting still hasn't started yet due to Furina!MC.) to let him see her.

When he is finally able to talk to her, he has the pleasure of seeing Furina!MC glare at him wearily, her odd, but adorable familiars made of water floated around him, ready to strike if need be.

Oh, he couldn't wait to tell Poseidon about this-

At the very least he talks to her politely... and reluctantly, she explains her story, which he later repeats to his brothers, and it shocks them.

A human? She was originally human, but some goddess stole her soul and made Furina!MC her body double? What the hell?!

And now she's a goddess?! What is she, like Buddha?!

Hades would probably be a little pissed. Cause he deals with the dead and a soul was stolen just like that? How dare this Goddess Focalors mess with his domain-

Also, their reaction to what happened to Furina!MC after her 500-year stage play? What do you mean she was scorned?! This girl saved that nation and yet-

But now Zeus wants to find this 'Teyvat'... This Celestia and the Heavenly Principles... The Severn Archons, not counting Furina!MC... yes, he was very curious about this world...

Poseidon was of course put off by the news as he despises humans but Furina!MC had so much potential... And well, she was a full-bloodied Goddess now...

And Hades, well, he just wanted to know more about the traumatized Goddess...

With this in mind, Hades starts coming around to talk to her more.

It takes a several more visits for her to get comfortable around him, and even more to get passed her new 'family'. Especially papa Adam.

It would be like a fan trying to meet his favorite idol. lol.

Buddha and Qin are in on this as well... but out of the three of them, Buddha is winning.

He definitely gives them a smug look from behind Adam, sticking out his tongue as goes to talk to Furina!MC.

On another note, Furina!MC's existence causes such a stir that everyone seems to have forgotten about Ragnarok or the reason they were even supposed to fight in the first place.

Both Gods and humans feel like they’re forgetting something but think it’s not important since they forgot it plus, they have better things like betting on the romance drama before them.

Adam still wants to murder them all for looking at his 'daughter'.

Meanwhile Furina!MC just wants to hide in a hole. Why are these attractive men attacking her so! This wasn't how the plot of Record of Ragnarok was supposed to go!!!!

Extra Notes

Furina!MC ends up in a poly relationship with Hades, Qin, and Buddha because she couldn't choose, and the men decided to compromise.

They love her, protect her, and they can hate the hell out of one another as long as Furina!MC was happy.

Zeus thought this was hilarious but was pleased that his older brother finally had a wife. He wants nieces and nephews-

Poseidon took longer because of Furina!MC's fear, but eventually, they sat down and talked. He still had a firm, negative stance on humans as a whole, but he's softened up somewhat around her.

Might be because Furina!MC urged him to spar with Sasaki. A NONE LETAL spar, but it seemed to loosen him up, at least a little.

But on another note... babies.

Buddha definitely gets the first one, Hades second cause him and Qin fought but unlike canon, he beats Qin's ass, and Qin gets the third.

Both Buddha's and Hades would be boys, while Qin gets the luck of the draw, and his heir is a girl.

All three of these men would definitely try to out 'papa' the other.

All the while grandpa Adam is spoiling his newest grandkids with Eve, while Poseidon and Zeus is being uncles... or at least Zeus, Poseidon definitely scares the kiddies.

Though he does have a closer relationship with the youngest since she inherited more of Furina!MC's Oceanid side, so she goes on swims with her fish uncle.

Qin always pouts when his baby asks to go visit Unca Po (Uncle Poseidon).

Focalors lives au x Everyone forgets or abandons Furina!MC au x the merging of Teyvat and Earth x Mama Furina!MC x Diary of Secrets au. Where Wriothesley hates her for not doing anything with his adoptive parents. When she actually tried but neuvillette lets them go.

I could see him not taking it well when it is made public. He is mad he could have had a mom, he could have been safe with his adoptive siblings but no neuvillette though he knew better. He is going to kill that lizard and the water witch (focalors)

He goes to see furina!mc and has to witness her sweet nature and devotion to her daughter. She is very gentle. He tries to apologize but she just looks at him coldly and ignores him. She would have felt bad but she can’t help but feel glad that he is begging for her forgiveness. She ignores him and the others from Fontaine that are begging for her forgiveness after finding out she tried to stop all the crimes that happened and get people properly punished for their crimes. Navia is begging just for a talk but gets ignored.

They all get to witness furina!mc laughing with pierro and playing with her daughter. To hurt even more, kids from snezheyha are coming up to greet her like usual and calling her Mama furina or aunt furina.

Wriothesley whole world view literally crumbles in seconds the moment he learns the truth.

He's also lucky that several people held him back from attack Neuvillette AND Focalors, less he would've been chuck right back into the fortress... for attempted murder charges.

But it doesn't matter either way, Furina!MC wanted nothing to do with him. That bridge they could've had burned years ago. And besides, he was a grown man now. What was he thinking of trying to latch onto her now?

Make things more angsty is if he has to watch her walk away, leaving him behind... and get reminded he did the same exact thing years ago, when he took over as Duke of the Fortress and met Furina!MC again after so long.

The coldness of the conversation, Furina!MC trying to explain once again, as she's been trying to reach him for years, and again... he brushed her attempts off and walks past her.

And now here he was, in the same position as she walks away... and the curious eyes of her child peers over her mother's shoulder, further cementing a position he could've had a long time ago...

But he and others in Fontaine already made their grave, and Furina!MC is happy where she was, with her baby, with those children, and with that Jester...

The very sight of you caused alarm among the staff, even if they knew that you seemed to understand what you were doing. That's why scientists were interested to know how Plague Doctor would react to you.

Those who were present at your meeting still anxiously recalled how his gaze focused on you, after which only those who were close enough could hear him quietly say a single phrase.

Since then, he's been trying to spend as much time with you as possible. His abilities did not affect you in any way, so the fact that you stayed by his side did not harm anyone and this experiment continued. They doubted that Plague Doctor was sharing information with you for that very reason. Rather, he just liked talking to you and spending time with you.

They watched through the cameras as he gently hugged you around the waist. No one would dare to even get close to you, and he didn't feel the slightest discomfort around you. He stroked your hair, hugged you, and almost cooed to you. No one understood if he really fell in love with you or if the reason was something else, but you didn't seem to mind it. Even if they decided to abort the experiment, no one was sure that it would be possible to do it. Maybe you just wouldn't let others separate you.
