Yāknow the lightning we can see striking in the Eye of Eden?
I have a theory about that.
We most often associate lightning with thunderstorms, because by large, thatās where itās most commonly found! Since Eden is generally referred to as āthe Storm,ā itās a common assumption that a thunderstorm is the cause of Edenās lightning strikes. However, all thunderstorms produce precipitation or rain at some point in their life cycle, of which there is none in the Eye of Eden.
While itās possible that the Storm in Eden is in itās cumulus stage, lightning in this stage is much less frequent than in rain-producing stages, and the lightning flashes in Eden occur quite often.

What could cause the lightning strikes in Eden if not a thunderstorm, then?
Volcanic lightning is lightning that forms in the plume of ash expelled from volcanoes. This is primarily due to the collision of the heavy dust particles forming static electricity, which eventually builds areas of positive and and discharges.

The Eye of Eden isnāt a volcano, thoughā thereās no known open chasm leading into the earthās surface there, and no floes of lava exist in the area. However, the action seen at the center of Eden is like no natural force that we know of.

Itās possible that whatever action is taking place in Eden around itās mysterious red diamond is managing to stir up enough dust, dirt, rocks, and debris that it has the same effect as a volcanic eruptionā creating a could of ash dense enough to generate lightning.
Interestingly, most, if not all, of the lightning we can see in Eden appears to be negatively charged. Often, the lightning will flicker several times in the same place, and has multiple ābranchesā leading off of itā both things that are characteristic of negative lightning strikes. Negative lightning is also generally the most common type of lightningā the storm in Eden seems to be following standard conventions for lightning strikes.

Though most research on positive and negative lightning has been done in thunderstorms, volcanic lightning has also been found to form and gain itās charge in a similar manner.
What can we conclude from this?
Contrary to popular belief, the āStormā in Eden is not a thunderstormā whatever is happening in Eden seems to be stirring up clouds of dust and ash with a force similar to that of a volcanic eruption, and is sustaining itself over time with enough energy to produce lightning strikes.
This knowledge about just how intense the storm in the Eye of Eden isā and whatās itās nature is likeā may help us form a better understanding of what happened in Eden to begin with.
