And I'm bawling AHHGAINš
š„µš„.
Jamie and Claire's last love scene. So tender and beautiful!
Claireās heart starts to glow blue right before the ghost scene ā as sheās calling him home to her via blue light, he calls her home to him via the stones. In doing so, he closes the time loop, and together they defy death itself. šš
There will never be a love story like theirs again. Never.
...And I finish with a whimper, T. S. Eliot
On a broken stone, blue light emanates from her chest, a sigh escapes, and the eyes open.
An ambiguous ending, open to many interpretations, but for me, they both come back to life.
The show may have ended here, and now it's the fans who weave theories and speak of endless loops. As a reader, I know the story continues, and with such an ambiguous and open ending, all possibilities can be considered, and that in a few years, there will be a conclusion, including book 10.
After an erratic season that left many storylines unresolved and going nowhere, taking screen time away from what we really wanted to see, the final episode was one of the best things we'd seen in a long time.
Eight seasons aired over twelve years that are now a part of my life. Through good times and not-so-good times, but all of them have meant a great deal, and where unexpected friendships and equally unexpected betrayals have brought us to where we are today.
An era has ended for a show that's already part of television history, even if people downplay it. It's a story that was already part of popular culture; the references and imitations existed long before it became famous. Perhaps not as much as expectedāwe all know that fandom, any fandom, places much more importance on its obsession than the average viewer. But it's there, and time will place this production where it deserves to be, not necessarily as a great classic, but certainly as a valuable reference point.
From now on, I'm not going to close the door, because there's still so much to enjoy, discuss, and cherish. Fandom doesn't end, it never does, and now, well, always, is the time for those great authors who I know are already sharpening their virtual pencils.
Fanfiction is a well-oiled machine, and I'm already reading wonderful stories.
However, I can't thank Starz, for their blatant manipulation and the way they've been exploiting this fandom, letting them do the work for free during promotions and only approaching them when it meant opening their wallets. They spaced out seasons to extend subscriptions as much as possible and favored the North American fandom at the expense of the rest of the world.
Even so, thank you, Jamie and Claire, for that eternal love story.
And thanks to Sam and Caitriona for bringing these characters to life. We couldn't have found better actors for the roles š„°
@cajon-desastre ššš well said! Totes agree! I will miss them, JC and SC ! I can always re-watch I know ! And thereās always the books! I have lots of memories too of them as JC and as SC but not to see them together in photos or videos from some venue or on set will leave a hole in my heart. I wish them the best always and pray for their safety and health. OMG! Iām crying more about this than I did for the show. I know what Sam meant when he and Caitriona were filming separately for S3 when he said it was like having a ādeath in the familyā. I know I will find solace. comfort and kindness in the many friends Iāve been privileged and lucky to meet here in our corner of the fandom. We have shared this journeyā¦some of you, with me from the very start. It wasnāt always a rosy path for us but our resilience and our enduring love for this couple have been the guiding force that kept us on the right course to its completion. To my heartās delight, at end of Ep 10, I chose to think that Jamie and Claire are alive at Fraserās Ridge and Iām looking forward to reading about them in Book 10 (hurry up Diana!) and hopefully they make a feature film or better, a season out of that material! Iāll still be here, posting my memories whenever I can and chatting with you guys! Talk soon, take care, be safe and ā¤ļøš to All!
If there any typos, I apologize. Mea culpa (small keyboard) or just wonky phone.
I have loved Outlander so much and especially the relationship between Claire and Jamie . The inspirational love story the beautiful words the swelling story. I have loved it all. I will miss it so much but I can always rewatch. I will miss seeing Sam and Cait together but you never know what may happen as time goes by. I am hoping for one day š¤š¤š¤š„°
I AM UNWELL
Diana Gabaldon referencing the Hasanlu Lovers is genuinely something I will never get over
We better get one more scene like this tonight or istg
While Iām bracing myself for a big disappointment tonight (and truly hoping Iām wrong), can we talk about what a marketing disaster the Paley panel has been?
Iām putting aside the photos we got, how they looked, and whatever mix of sadness/excitement/whatever-it-was people read into their expressions. I wasnāt there. Maybe the panel itself was great and they were relaxed and happy. Weāll find out when we watch it.
And thatās the problem.
What exactly was the point of holding this panel in the first place, if not to promote the finale that airs tonight?
Because so far, nobody official has promoted it at all. Not before, not during. Sam and Caitās socials are basically silent, and Starzās socials, which in a normal universe would be live streaming from the red carpet and shared stories from the event with clips, quotes, and behind the scenes info, apparently went to bed early and left fans to scavenge for crumbs across the internet.
Is it being streamed anywhere? Is it even happening? Is anyone going to tell the audience whatās going on?
Where is the promo?
If we canāt see it, donāt know where to watch it, and arenāt getting any official updates, then what was the point of scheduling it a day before the end?
Every time I think Starz has hit rock bottom, they somehow find a new low of incompetence.
Oh, please, just go away. If you had balls, you would have admitted that you fcked up the last season š But we already know you are coward, because you deactivated your Instagram š
Color me legit underwhelmed and fearing the worst, most stupid narrative choices being touted around like the Eighth Wonder of the World and fucking with our emotions and brains for cheap thrills and everybody cursing in their respective time zones once the finale airs.
Final Paley is too little too late. No wonder it isnāt sold out. Promo has been a trainwreck. No event in Scotland. Marketed mostly to USA. No joint comic con. No fun games with Josh, no Sam&Cait together apart from chaotic prem (& no panel!) Why?? Their chemistry is OL's best asset. S8 writing is hit and miss, feels like a trailer for a LJ Grey family spin off ā a Heated Rivalry type drama. Instead of ending Jamie & Claireās story in proper way. Shame on MBR for pulling a GoT on this fandom!
Dear Trainwreck Anon,
I couldn't agree more.

Am I the only one who thinks Claire and Jamie have an inside joke about honey⦠šÆ????
Guys, Sam thinks weāre toxic. ā¤ļø The fandom that funds his whisky business.
If thatās what he thinks of his fandom, how about heād stop monetising Jamie, and see how well he does without his fans.
Celebrities forget how they get to where they are. Without their fans they would be nothing!
The best comment on the post. š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£
